What kind of a Celt would I be if I did not start the day by wishing everyone a Happy St. Patrick's Day.  Hope it is a fun day for all of you. I'm just going to get right to it and put up some music here. To me,that's the best part of the day's festivities. I will even throw in a couple of local artists to let you see what I'll be hearing tonight in downtown Tulsa.

I had to start off with them. I've seen them live 4 times now. They are a wonderful group that celebrates Irish music in many forms. They can rock out or be very traditional.

First heard of them when I lived in St. Louis. At the time I didn't quite understand what the term "Celtic Punk" really meant. They enlightened me! Saw them open for Motorhead. Amazing!

Solas means "light" in Gaelic. Still kind of new to listening to them myself.

What a great group of musicians. They seem to be having fun playing this song!

Larkin is the big draw on St. Patrick's Day. Wherever you find them playing is usually packed. Arnie's Bar sets up a big stage covered by a huge tent. So lots of folks can get in there and enjoy all the Celtic goodness Tulsa has to offer.

Another fine group from Tulsa. Seen them perform many times. Very traditional and a lot of fun. Tulsans absolutely love them. No St. Patrick's Day is complete without their music. I hope you enjoyed the music today. Have a safe and fun time out there,my friends.   Slainte!!!

Huh, I had never thought that the "celt" in your user name stood for "celtic!" Long live the irish!

It's the name I use pretty much everywhere online and XBOX Live. Comes from a combo of my last name and my Celtic origins. My family is Scottish and Cherokee mix. Some people think I used the name because I'm a smartass. Could be,but it's my name, too!

Today we all are! Our nation owes so much to the Irish. My wife is of Irish descent. Let's all go out and have a pint[or 4!] to celebrate Ireland.

My drink of choice today is Bushmills Irish Honey. It's very smooth and tasty stuff. I'd tried other whiskey brands that infused honey into the mix. Jack Daniels Honey is fantastic, but this is even better. Here's to all of you fine people!

It's a fine thing to know of and be proud of your ancestry. We can be proud to be Americans yet still know where our family began. I only learned my heritage about 8 years ago. Name like Smart was hard to trace. But I met a Scotsman who gave me some clues that led to answers.

Happy St Patrick's Day!  Great music to celebrate by.  I did most of my celebration last night lol.  I have to work today.

I'm going to go hear some music later. But most of my drinking will be done at home tonight. Driving is a big part of my job. Cannot take any chances. If I could walk there and then stumble home I would!

Love all of it, so my only comments to make really are that I found Dropkick Murphys through The Departed and as a huge fan of the Red Sox, instantly liked them. I even wrote a song on guitar I was calling "Here Come the Droogs" (Clockwerk Orange ref), only to realize it sounded like a slower version of "Shipping Up to Boston." Damn. lol

I liked all the traditional stuff you posted as well; Larkin sounds drunk, and the last video has one hell of an epic mustache, and some fine dancing. haha

Larkin probably was drunk! They come to the stage when they are good and ready. Gotta down a few pints beforehand. Just to get the blood pumping!

I think it would be really fun to play Celtic music live. The bands always seem to be having a blast.

I'm not exactly a heavy drinker/party guy so St. Patrick's is often just another day to me. lol. Still, I like its' ties to all things Irish! If it had "real" leprechauns and beautiful fey lasses I'd be all over it!

I've slowed down quite a bit. Getting too old for it. Still like a good beer or a spot of whiskey now and then, though. Today is perfect for it.
