Allied General is a classic ps1 game that I use to play back in the day along with Panzer General which is published by Mindscape,Inc Strategic Simulation Inc and developed by Strategic Simulations In. Allied General is a turn based strategy game set in WW2 that features the allied side of operations, players can progress through four campaigns as an allied general, against axis forces controled by the AI.

The playable campaigns include

1. A soviet campaign which features the soviet invasion of finland, known as the winter war, the defenses of moscow, and if successful the counter attack.

2. A british campaign in north Africa against the German and Italian armies, beginning in Sidi Birrani.

3. A British campaign which can be played as the continuation of the first British campaign, which features the final allied attack in Tunis on the Mareth Line and the invasion of Europe.

4. An American campaign, similar to the second British campaign, that begins with operation torch and continues to the invasion of Europe. Individual scenerios can be played fromneither side.

Allied General is the sequel to Panzer General, and is a pretty expansive game, and Allied General is much harder then Panzer general was, but as seen by the list of campaigns there is more to do then in Panzer General, the playstation version is more simplistic then its DOS counter part, you receive prestege which is the games form of currency and you use this to enlarge and upgrade your army, and you can buy anything from planes to troops to artillery to tanks and whenever to whatever you want the possibillitys are endless, the replayability is huge and if your a turn based strategy game fan you will enjoy this game.

Looks interesting.  I haven't played many strategy games but seem to be developing an interest in them.  I'll keep this one on my radar.

My boyfriend had Panzer General and played it a lot when we first got the PS1. I think he sold the game, though.
