So, did Anonymous unmask himself yet?

After all the acclaim that Tomb Raider received, I decided I had to play the game and went onto CAG to get a Tomb Raider PS3 gameshare going since I had already spent my $50 for MLB '13. After finding enough buyers and downloading the game, I have to say that after 5 hours of playing that Tomb Raider is amazing.

The only weakness of the game, as TotalBiscuit said in his YT impressions video, is that there's a disconnect between the excellent story and the gameplay. For somebody who has never been in survival combat, Lara sure learns unrealistically quickly to become a killing machine. Of course, if the game featured Lester The Unlikely gameplay, nobody would have liked it. Maybe the first hour, she could struggle shooting the gun or drawing the bow until she gained the experience. Still, it was best to take the safe route but I agree with John that an opportunity was squandered.

Tomb Raider is a joy to play. Great environments, lots to find and kill, QTEs that are tolerable and great voice work. I certainly hope Camilla Luddington will stick around for Tomb Raider come next generation. The digital version also features quick load times. You get another crack after 2 seconds.

I'm glad I got to play this; it's terrific. 2 great games came out on March 5 as MLB '13: The Show is excellent as well. SquareEnix has ruined Final Fantasy beyond repair but are making up with me with games like Sleeping Dogs, Deus Ex: Human Revolution and now Tomb Raider. I also have Hitman: Absolution ready for my PC to download.

Seeing the release calendar, next game up for me won't be until June 14 when The Last Of Us releases. I hope that date isn't bad luck as another game released on that same day in 2011 was released to panning reviews.

Some guy on Kijiji was selling a modded 360 and one of the games he claimed came with it was Gears Of War; Judgment. I don't know how Epic Games seemingly allows their games to reach these pirates. I find it droll that they have problems with people who complain about hoarders selling their extra copies of games or consoles but not with pirates selling modded consoles that nobody with a brain would even touch.

Most of the former 1uppers are console video gamers but I'm sure many of you are thinking of boycotting EA after the SimCity fiasco. I've decided to never buy an EA product until they clean up their act. I sold or deleted any EA product on the PS3. I have to keep the PC stuff on Origin since I don't want to deal with their DRM if I ever wanted to re-download it. I only spent $45 total on stuff like Battlefield 3, Crysis 2 and other games when they were selling for $10. I actually haven't touched any of that stuff this year even.

EA has been like this for decades. It's catching up to them now.

Glad that Tomb Raider has apparently turned out so good. I've really liked what I've heard about the combat systems, the bow, the ability to silence the pistol, rope arrows, and the like. I think it sounds like a lot of fun, I would like to get around to playing the game some time.

It's cool you liked Deus Ex Human Revolution, I recently finished it after taking a break from it for a while. I really enjoyed the game a lot and they earned a bit of respect from me and showed they can make a really nice stealth action game. Do you have any thoughts on them (SquareEnix/Eidos) making the next Thief game? I personally don't have much experience with the Thief franchise so I'm trying to learn more about it from Thief fans. I set up an account on Good Old Games recently and I'm going to buy and play through some of the old Thief PC games because I've heard a lot of good things about them.

I did play Thief on the Xbox but I didn't really get into the game. Back then, I wasn't into stealth games. I've been trying to give these games a chance with the likes of Human Revolution, Dishonored and Mark Of The Ninja and I'm more receptive to that genre now. As long as they get a developer that knows the Thief canon, it should be in good hands.

I know I'm not touching SimCity, especially after the Spore fiasco. Apparently within the EA system, even Maxis wasn't too big to fail.  I'll stick with SC4 for now, and if I want to look at a more up-to-date city sim, I'll look at Cities XL instead.
