Weekend Reading and ....

I finished Embassytown by China Mieville. It took me six weeks but I did it! Don't get me wrong but in the end it was a good story, just a tough slog through his dense prose, made up words and constant repetition. Very draining but in the end I thought the story and the ideas were very good.

I started reading The Ocean at the End of the Lane by Neil Gaiman and managed to get over 25% of the book read in a couple of hours. I'll probably be finished this one in a couple of days.

I haven't been playing much. A bit of Persona Q, some Revelations 2 and a little bit of Closure on PS3. I'm looking at stuff I'm never going to go back to so that I can clear off my PS3 hard drive. I'm sorely tempted to get rid of the Borderlands games. I just find them a bit mindless and frustrating. Not my kind of RPG. I need to pare back to just games that I'll actually enjoy playing not stuff that is just there.

I hope you are having a great weekend. I'm not going to work tomorrow but I'll probably work from home to make up the hours

Speaking of Etrian Odyssey mash ups, Etrian Mystery Dungeon is out on Tuesday.

I hadn't played the Boarderland games yet.  I have 2 of them.

I'm still playing Persona Q, but I'm starting to get tired of it.  I'm not a fan of the dungeon puzzles.  They're not too hard, but they annoy me.

Reading is what I've been doing a lot of lately. I don't think I've touched a game since I started back at the park. And I cleared out a bunch of games off my PS3 hard drive a while back that I knew I'd never play again or never finish. Still didn't free up a ton of space, though. I need a bigger hard drive...

I've come to the realization that I don't need to store all the digital content I own on the drive but then I'm working with a 750 GB hard drive.

What I find irritating though is that Sony only allows you to view your download list by date and if I don't download something I lose track of it. Even the date thing sucks because when you renew it restamps all your PSN+ purchases with the renewal date not the actual date you picked them up.

Also you can't remove things from the list e.g. old demos and issues of Qore constantly get in the way. I have over 900 items on my list but there's lots of old junk.

Anyway when you're home on the range again you should pick up a bigger drive. :)

next time I'll make a better recommendation, but thanks for sticking with it!

I think it's good that I finished it. Now that it's done and I run through the actual plot and characters in my mind there was something original and interesting in there. Some authors are better if you only read every third word. :D

I'm going to try another one of his at some point just to see if it is easier to read. Also it made the Gaiman book feel like a light snack. :) I've read over 70% of it and will probably be finished on my next session.

Yeah its best to clear out the games you don't play off the hard drive. Also don't forget to remove any updates and anything else the game installed as well. That should give you more hard drive space.

It's good to see that folks still reading books. I haven't since my Nexus 7 decided to become a paper weight, and everytime I try on the iPad I end up playing a game.
