Some PSN Pickups Plus Other Stuff Good Too

Yesterday I decided to pick up Shovel Knight. I now have it for PS3, PS4 and Vita thanks to cross-buy. Doesn't really mean much for me at the moment since I don't have a PS4 so I can play it on my TV using either the PS3 or PS TV which isn't really much of a choice.

I also discovered that since I'd put the PS4 version of New 'N' Tasty into my download list I got the PS3 version for nothing. After reading Blake's review I wasn't that keen on paying for it so now I can see for myself. I have the original so I can do a side by side comparison.

I finally downloaded Aaru's Awakening which was one of the PSN+ games for April. The game is close to 2 GBs and then a 651 MB update when you first lauch it. I really don't like the controls so far. Left stick to move and L1 to jump doesn't sit right with my brain. I want to press a button to jump. Maybe there's an option to change it because I'm not going to get very far with this config.

I'm about a third of the way through the second Strain novel. I'm enjoying it quite a bit. I'm also following along in the graphic novels. They're quite close.

Lastly I've finally got parts of the 8th and 9th floors in Persona Q done. I enjoy it when they get to the story bits of the game but I think I'm going to walkthrough my way through these final floors because it's taking me far too long. As it is this game has taken me about 3 times as long as it should have and it's time to move on.

I've been checking out the stylus capability on the new HP 12 inch Tablet I mentioned in my last blog. The stylus can be converted to an actual pen and if you write on a pad of paper beside the Slate it copies what you've written to an app on the device. You can also write directly onto the tablet so I'm not really getting it other than maybe for drawing stuff.

Thats pretty cool it copies what you write.  I like tablets but they havent repaced the notebook for me... Yet.

The Surface Pro 3 is billed as a laptop replacement but for many reasons I don't see it. (More on that later) The HP Android Tablet needs a Bluetooth mouse and keyboard to make it approximate a laptop because no keyboard/mouse = not a laptop replacement.

I'm growing so tired of Persona Q.  In still in Inaba Pride Exhibit.  Finally made it to level 4 and I have more annoying staute legs to walk through, in a specific order, that are now further away from each other.  I'm almost 112 hrs into the game.  I'm ready for this to be over.  I don't even care what happens to the characters anymore. Frown

I get like that and then the story kicks in again and I enjoy it for as while and then it starts feeling like a lot of work again.

The First 7 floors of the clock tower are small but not simple to get through then 8 and 9 are full sized floors like the other dungeons and require a lot of upstairs downstairs action in order to complete them. I know I'm close to the end so I'm going to complete it.

Oh, and the big story reveal comes at the end of the Pride Exhibit so at least hang on until then. :)

I'll try to stick with it.  At 112 hrs, I feel as though I've given this game too much already. Laughing

Try 150 which is what I'm sitting at and still not finished. My biggest problem is that I like to max out my characters and I'm only at level 75 right now.

Damn.  I'm currently at 66.  If I break 150 hrs (going at my current rate, I probably will) to beat this game, there is a very slim chance I'll ever play this game again.

I'm finding if I have both light and dark instant kill on one or two party members I can end most battles in a single turn now. I also use the panic ailment a lot to prevent anything other than weak physical attacks. Carrying vanish balls for those pesky FOE encounters really helps too.

I'm not sure what vanish balls are.  I'll have to look into that.  I get so many items that I igmore them most of the time.

Vanish balls can be purchased in the workshop. They allow you guaranteed escape from all but boss battles. That way if you make a mistake and are confronted by an FOE you can have your fastest team member use one to get away and try again.

I tend to store or sell anything I'm not going to use. That way my inventory always has lots of room for power spot and enemy drops. I'm running around with close to a million yen in my pocket right now. Suddenly healing is pretty cheap. :)

That HP tablet is pretty cool. My laptop is still functioning; otherwise, I'd be looking at a tablet to replace it.

The stylus and app option on that tablet would be extremely usefull for me and I wish Apple had something similar (if they don I haven't seen it yet) because I already invested in an iPad. After reading your previous blog and this one, I checked out some windows based tablets earlier this week. They are a bit heavy but that's really not a problem, and I might get one once my coin can rule allows me to.

Yeah the Surface Pro 3 comes with a pen also and it works very well for taking notes on the tablet itself but the HP Slate is the only one I've seen that lets you write on a notepad and transfers the result to the tablet.

The Surface Pro 3 is a nice Windows based tablet but at $800 and up it isn't a cheap solution.

The HP Slate Pro 12 is less than $600 (list) and there's an 8 inch version available. It's growing on me right now but the Surface has become my everyday work PC for the time being. I've got it hooked up to 2 external touch monitors through a Targus docking station. Works well.

I ended up passing on that sales. It wasn't enough for me to see on shovel Knight.

I still like my 2-in-1. I won't be tempted by your tech!

Oh a draw pen...NO! FOCUS!
