Well, I had every intention to sit down and make an early impressions blog.  Sadly, it is a little too late for that seeing as I finished up my first run of the game last night.  Overall, it was a great ride and I highly recommend it.

First thing that I want to mention is that Bloodborne leaves a great second impression.  I say second because the first time I booted up the game I died over and over and over and over again.  I set the game down and came back to it a little later and things started to click.  As more of the map opened up and I was able to explore more and more I fell in love with the game.  Which is something that I was definitely not expecting.  I had a lot of issues with Demon Souls and because of that I never really gave Dark Souls a chance.  I went in expecting a Souls game, but was happily surprised to find out that it was something unique.

I spent about 50 hours with the game so far, I probably won't go back to NG+ until I finish up some games in my backlog.  I enjoyed nearly all of the time I spent with the game, but my enthusiam slowly tapered off as I approached the end of the game.  This was probably my fault for spending so much time farming levels, but I have to say that when I went up against the final boss I was glad to have them.

I guess I don't really have much to say.  Bloodborne will most likely be one of my favourite games of 2015 and I recommend it...  if you have the patience or skills to get past the initial hour or so.

It's a really well crafted game.  I think I made the right decision to play Shovel Knight afterwards.  It really shows how two games that look entirely different are both informed by the same era of gaming.

After Dark Souls 2 and Scholar of the First Sin, I don't want more Dark Souls at all. At least not in the near future. Part of my hesitation to get on board with Bloodborne is that I feel enough time hasn't passed from the last Souls game, DS2. After Scholar of the First Sin, I don't want any more Dark Souls in the near future. Not in a negative sense, but more like I've had more than enough for now. I've been playing Heroes of the Storm and Guild Wars 2 in the mean time, as well as some Mario Kart 200 CC and I'm just find with that.

Glad you enjoyed the game. Sounds awesome.

I believe that I understand what you are saying.  after sinking the 50 hours in, I am having  difficulty wanting to play through it again on NG+.  Plus, there are all these neat indies that just came out...  Bastion, Shovel Knight, and Titan Souls.

from what I remember of the souls games, Bloodborne is a different beast.  at least in regards to the combat and setting.  I suppose everything else is probably the same.

Yep pretty much. The second half is pitifully easy though up until the last boss. The first area is the hardest in the game, and once you get past Amelia, the game becomes a fucking cakewalk.

My typical strategy was to find a new boss, die and then go level up a few or dozen levels and then come back and destroy them.

One of the things I didn't like about Demon's Souls was the slow, deliberate combat. The speedier pace of Bloodborne really intrigues me.

Same here.  That is probably why I fell into Bloodborne so easily.

I'll have to chaclk this game up as one to own for the PS4 once I get around to it. Good to see that their is atleast one game that makes it worthwhile to own a PS4.
