It feels like forever

Looking at my past blogs, I guess it hasn't been that long but it feels like it. I've gotten a few things done in the meantime, like a read Marvel 1602. It's a graphic novel with the Marvel universe set at the end of the reign of Queen Elizabeth I of England. It was really cool. Nick Fury was the head of the Queen's intelligence, Dr. Strange was the court physician, and Dr. Doom owned a castle in Latveria. There was also the X-Men, Peter Parquour Wink, and the Fantastic Four, among others. It was a really good story and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. (Is it any surprise that it was written by Neil Gaiman?)

These are all the individual issue covers. I love the faux-woodcut look.

More recently I've been playing Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors for the DS. A crazy guy has locked you and a bunch of people on a sinking ship and you have to solve puzzles to get out or you'll die. There's a lot of drama within the group too. It's a visual novel, so while there is a lot of text it's very well written and extremely interesting. It's been on my mind ever since starting it. There are six endings and I've met two rather grisly ends so far. I'm on my third playthrough (you can skip through text you've already read) and still seeing new content. It's not just what happens that's interesting but why. Figuring out the motivations of the various characters is no doubt integral to finding the best path to the ending. I'm thoroughly enjoying it.

Well that seems sufficient for now. I have a few other things but I'll leave those for later. Entice myself to blog some more lol.

I would love to read the Marvel 1602 comics. The covers certainly look cool.

Also, I REALLY want to play 999! Still need to get a copy. That game along with Ghost Trick are the two DS games I must have.

I can't speak to the post-Gaiman 1602 comics (e.g., Spider-Man) but that initial run is very good.

It looks like Ghost Trick and 999 are still available for reasonable prices on Amazon. You should snag them while that is still the case. And yeah, 999 is really good Wink

Anything with Marvel universe or Niel Gaimen involved has my attention. This sounds very cool, going to hunt it down when I have the money. Taxes are top priority at the moment, didn't stash enough back. Yell

Once you have the money I definitely recommend buying it. It's a keeper.

Marvel 1602 was great. I really liked that series. The art is amazing too. My friend, who's a huge Gaiman fan, didn't seem to enjoy it as much as I did. I liked it better than Sandman. I'm not saying Marvel 1602 is objectively better, it probably isn't, but I prefered it to Sandman.

1602 and Sandman are so very different that you can't really compare them, though everyone will probably prefer one over the other. I think I like 1602 a little better as well. It was just a lot of fun to read. That's not a slight on Sandman, of course. I've only read the first four volumes of that anyway. Lot to go still. But yeah, 1602. Good stuff.

You're right. They are not really comparable. 1602 had to stick to the Marvel characters and Sandman was it's own thing; there's just more of Gaiman in Sandman.

I recently got into Neil Gaiman's novels. Well "Novels". I got a short story collection and another book that are both pretty decent. He's just awesome in general though.

He is awesome! I've only read a couple of his books, Neverwhere being my favorite so far, but I have several more waiting for my attention. American Gods is at the top of that list. Just need the time...

Dude, I'm reading the 1602 series right now.  I was really surprised by how much I'm enjoying this take on the Marvel Universe.  I love Dare Devil's character so far. I've read issues 1-4.  This week, I plan to finish 5-8.

I love the visual representation of Dare Devil's power. Cool stuff. I wish Gaiman had come back to write more than this one story arc. He's really good.

These look like something I want to read but I've only just started The Sandman series. I'm basically down for reading anything Gaiman has been involved in.

It would make for a nice break from Sandman. They're very different. Also, 1602 is one volume (Gaiman's work at least) whereas Sandman is 10+. I need to get back to reading Sandman though. I've gotten through only the first four volumes.

Neil Gaiman is one of my favorites and 1602 was a neat twist on the standard heros. I also played 999 a few months back.  I was enjoying it until I unexpectedly got the first ending.  I haven't picked it up since.  I plan to in the future, but I'm still irked at it for now.

You stopped after one ending?! I've gotten four, each playthrough shining light on a different aspect of the story or characters. I'm working on getting the "best" ending at the moment. You should definitely give it another shot.
