... and right after I got 5 new games for it.

I payed $100 to have it fixed last time and the fix lasted 6 months.

This time I'm going to pick up a new one even with the crappy build quality and lack of backwards compatibility.

I'll need to start saving my pennies. :(

My brother just got a new ps3. He spent under two hundred but he got no hard drive. Mine is on its last leg too

I got a super slim and gave my old 20 GB (not backwards compatible) one to my friend. Both working fine. I was just looking up the first gen PS3s on ebay and it seemed like they are pretty cheap. I expected them to be pricey because of the backwards cap, but apparently not.

I need to take mine in to Game Box Video Games and have it cleaned. There are probably dust bunnies the size of hippos in there. I figure the $45 for the cleaning will be worth it in the long run. They also repair pretty much all systems going back to the Atari.

I was afraid that was going to happen. It's the horror stories I keep reading on the online forums about system repair, done or not done by Sony. they just don't seem to take. Not sure if they themseleves don't know hwo to fix their own tech or the tech is to complex to be fixed, or the fix is too costly to make it worth it.

I'm still sitting on my broken B/C PS3 if only to find a "GOOD" repair service that can garentee their work. No way I'm selling it for parts. Most tech cannibals want a mere $10 for it. frak that!
