Good morning Pixlbits.

My Breakfast

Ok, so this was yesterday morning's breakfast but I didn't get around to blogging until today, It's scrambled eggs with cubed spiral ham, jalapenos, chipotle flakes and onions, served with Mrs Renfro Habanero Salsa and a toasted everything bagel. You know you're awake when you've finished this.

I also discovered the perfect application for the HP 12.5 inch Slate. It makes an amazing reader for graphic novels.

Sandman on a Tablet

This is Sandman volume 1. It works great on the tablet. Smooth transitions and no stuttering or lag of any kind. All text is big enough to read without having to resort to a panel by panel view.

Finally here is Horn running on the tablet. It's one of the best looking games I've seen on a tablet and it runs perfectly on the HP Pro 12

Horn on Tablet

Anyway, my wife and I are off to Value Village to see if we can't find a cheap amp to power the pair of $300 speakers I picked up for $7.99 there on Friday. More on that later.

Mothman has flown.

I bought some Klipsch speakers this week, $250 for the pair.  I thought I was getting small little things that wouldn't sound too great, but I'm pretty impressed.  They'll do for a while. Now I have a nice center speaker and too bookshelf side speakers for listening to stereo music.  I need a sub, and rear speakers and I'll be complete.  The speakers I bought sound really good to my ears, though they're not perfect.  I'll tell you though, I was listening to Jimi Hendrix Blues and the guitar sounded SO amazing.  I couldn't believe it.

I don't like reading comics on my ipad.  It's not big enough, I'd rather do it on paper.

Damn, that breakfast looks good.

I've never been a fan of Klipsch mainly because of their signature "horn" sound but then it has been many years since I've auditioned any of their products so I have no current knowledge and might change my mind if I heard some today.

Originally Klipsch was big into PA speakers and that's what they always reminded me of. I had a friend back in the day who loved his Klipschorns though.

The speakers I found are made by a Canadian company by the name of Paradigm. To find a pair of those in a thrift store is almost unheard of.

The size of the HP Slate is what makes it perfect for comics. It displays at about the same dimensions as and 8.5 x 11 sheet of paper.

yeah I've heard about the whole "Horn" thing.  I don't really have anything to compare them to, as I've never had nice speakers before.  For classical music though, they sound really good, opera voices sound like they're in the room.  Next time I get a set of speakers I'll get a different brand to compare them to.  Right now I'm listening to the Well-Tempered Synthesize by Carlos, and it sounds like musical candy.

There's just a lot more definition in the sound now, it's like going from an old tube TV to a HD TV.  My old speakers were SOOOO bad.  These weren't even that expensive, and they sound loads better.  I can't believe I waited this long!

I've just been going through my vinyl record by record and listening, and it's been quite pleasurable.  Laughing

Thanks for reminding me. I was going to add Wendy Carlos stuff to some of my playlists. I just keep forgetting to do it.

the "switched on bach" stuff is good, but her other stuff like the soundtrack to the Shining is cool too.

I have so much of her stuff. Some of it is ambient "new age" type stuff which is not my favorite, but there's some good tracks on those albums. I noticed she's good at "scary" on those albums.

I always thought a tablet would be great for comics. Comixology.com has just taken off since it began a while ago.

This one is the right size. my Acer at 10.2 is ok and my iPad mini is too small.

The screen on that tablet looks great!

It was delicious. The heat might be a little intense for those not accustomed to heat but I like intense flavours in the morning. Gets the taste buds going.

This particular tablet is just the right size for reading comics and gaming. Yet it's billed as a business tablet. Go figure.

That breakfast sounds like it has some kick!

The slate has a nice screen, and the comic reader looks good. I need to check out the digit versions of the comics I bought during Free Comic Book Day.
