What I Played, And Some Links You Want To Click On

It is Monday, and the past weekend went by way too fast. Hello Pixlbit! I’m waiting for Friday to come back but in the meantime let’s get this week started! I hope you good people took time out of your day yesterday to wish all the folks who are mothers in your lives a Happy Mother’s Day. Most of my Sunday was spent spending time with family, having lunch, and taking in a certain show about thrones, and games. Speaking of games during the week I took some time to play some games and maybe read a couple of articles I’d like to share with you good folks.

Games Chris Played…

MLB 15 The Show – PS4: Video game Chris is still in Double A Ball but hitting like a MLB’er. I haven’t touched this game in almost a week, but off the top of my head my character is leading the league in HR’s, RBI’s, Hits, and Batting Average. Base stealing my character is a bit slow at but hopefully that will change when I earn enough credits to boost that skill.

Mortal Kombat X – PS4: I guess there was an update last week (still no Goro) but there were some unlockables. Since my tablet game is connected to the console game I added a couple of new icons, gamercard backgrounds, and some coins. I think since I bought the Kollection Pass these costumes are part of it

Along with Jason from certain flicks involving Friday The 13th.

Madden 15 – PS4: Ok remember on Friday when I said I started up a new Franchise after watching Draft Day? Well the reasoning behind it was so I could try and copy what the main character, Sonny Weaver Jr. accomplished during Draft Day. To do this I simmed the first season of Madden. During this season the St. Louis Rams moved to Brooklyn and became the Brooklyn Yanks, and the Jaguars officially decided to relocate to London. The Cleveland Browns finished the year at

The worst part about this season was that they had two ties within the division. I was guaranteed the number one pick in the NFL Draft. So far so good.

These are my current draft picks. I decided to do some wheeling and dealing because there was a whole list of spots that needed to be filled on the Browns roster, but first’s thing was to get rid of the staff. I fired the Head Coach, and the Scout, and went with a young coach with a background in the West Coast Offense. The next step was to fill some of the bigger positions through free agency. I signed two big Wide Receivers (Jacoby Jones, and Devin Hester), which gives me a ball control wide out, a deep threat, and a kick/punt returner. I then went after a player ranked in the high 80s for Strong Safety and another high 80s player for Defensive Tackle. The next part was fun.

Having the number one pick is fun but my team had needs so I decided to trade down. I traded the number one overall pick to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for their number two pick, and their first second round pick. I then traded the number two pick to the team picking in third for their number three pick along with their first second round pick. I did the same process all the way down to pick number five and I got this

In the second round I had five picks in a row to start the round. Here’s the best part

The number one overall player coming out fell into my lap. The other four teams ahead of me drafted defense and I got the “can’t miss kid” I needed at QB. With my run on second round picks I went with building up the defense, adding some OLine help, a RB who fell out of the first round, and a big WR who I can develop. With the rest of the picks I filled various problem spots on the team, and after all of that I was only over 2-3 million over the cap so I cut two QB’s.

So far in the season I am playing the Browns are 8-0 but my big time QB is out for five weeks with an injury, the starting running back was out for most of the year with a broken collarbone (which is usually season ending in real life), the backup is out for a couple of weeks, and the kid I drafted doing fine. The trainer is the next member of the staff to be fired.

Lego Star Wars The Complete Saga – 360: Since I had that newly found credit on my Mircosoft Account I spent some of it on a game I’ve played through multiple times on the PS2, PS3, and PSP consoles, so why not again on the 360? Unlike the previous games, with this run through I unlocked the score multipliers, and Invincibility because its fun just running through these games without a care about my character’s safety.

During the playing of one of the middle levels in the first flick, I think I was going a bit fast for the games because once you blow up the opening to the next screen it is supposed to cue a cut scene. Instead I got caught here

I was on an invisible ledge for a couple of minutes before dropping my character into an abyss.

WWE Immortals – iPad: I finished this week’s tournament and unlocked

Evolved Paige. I now have two teams of gold characters and I need to build up the second squad so I can make a run at the final handfuls of levels to finish the game.

Mortal Kombat X – iPad: I’m still moving along in the game, trying to unlock every character

I still have a couple of Test Your Might’s that I need to complete. I didn’t realize until late in the game I could tap on both sides of the screen to break some of the more difficult TYM Objects, and there is an achievement for breaking all of them.

I have two new characters

A Silver Kotal Kahn, and a Gold Kano

Spider-man Unlimited – iPad: There was an update where the ratings mechanic was tweaked. The higher your top four Spider-man characters are rated the better the rewards

My top four so far have me in the Heroic Spot and half way to becoming Champion. Once I get all four of my Legendary Spider-man runners to Level 100, I’ll hit Legendary. Currently they are at levels 77, 50, and the other two are at 45.

There are new characters to try and unlock which is always fun, and since this is a freemium game, if I wanted to pay $2 I could get this guy

That was happening because I vowed to not use any real money on this game. One big improvement was that I got back my username. For some reason after hitting a button I lost AztecsAlum for a random Spiderman2003242 something, but it got reset back to AztecsAlum and I got my friends list back.

Simpsons Tapped Out – iPad: I unlocked another member of Sideshow Bob’s storyline

And I’m just waiting to be able to unlock Bob now.

Flow – iPad: This is the game I’ve spent the most time with this week. I originally played this on my old iPad, but didn’t touch for about a year or two. While at the car dealership a couple of weeks ago I needed a puzzle game that I could play while listening to my podcasts. Well I played through the first couple of levels and decided to spend the $4.00 to unlock all the levels.

There is a lot of content in this game and I’ve been busy trying to play through everything. I play a little before I go to sleep, when I wake up I take out a level or two, and through out the day when I have a minute or two I’ll sneak in some playtime.

If you’re not familiar with this game, Flow is a puzzle game where you connect two dots of the same color on a game board

Depending on how many dots is on the board the game can get tricky at times but there is a lot of tinkering to get everything to fit on the board

The game itself isn’t really difficult, and it just involves a lot of trial and error. When I’m stuck I’ve found that if I hold the iPad vertically I get a whole new perspective on the board and I’ve completed a couple of puzzles this way.

Links, Links Baby!

Forbes Article About The PDF Leak Of Lego Dimensions

I was excited to see the pdf file (is has since been removed) that showed off all the characters available for the new game including new sets like Jurrassic World, and Scooby Doo (available later on this year) For you fans of Portal and Dr. Who, they are also included.

Forbes Article About The Nintendo NX

For you Nintendo fans. I’d like to see what happens with Nintendo’s new console and if they will continue with motion controls. Region Free is a good start for this new console.

VentureBeat Article About A New Company And Free To Play Games

This sounds like a new startup that will make the path between developers and platforms like iOS and Android a smoother road with shared revenue. This also sounds like there could be better freemium games instead of the cash grab that many of them are.

Alright Pixlbit I am off to grab something to eat. Have a good week!

That’s all for now, more later!

-Chris

hmmm I might have to buy Madden this year if I get a PS4 this month.  I miss playing Madden, but I'm always disappointed in it.  Maybe I should just keep my expectations in check.

Lego Dimensions seems insane!

Thanks for linking to the Forbes article.  I will check that out.

With Madden I've always stuck with the Franchise Mode and I've never really had a problem with it. There could have been some updates like having the NCAA Team Builder feature which would make team relocation much more fun, but the NFL probably wouldn't agree to it. I might get the next Madden on release day because there is no college football game to keep me occupied during football season.

I love Forbes. And now that I think about it, were Nintendo just on par w other consoles and had both its games and third party stuff, I'd still be %100 loyal to them.

I was actually surprised Forbes had articles on gaming. I actually spotted those articles while reading though the Flipboard App on the iPad (It grabs all topics I select and presents them in magazine form)

Nintendo has a long road to catch up with everyone else. At least they are starting to get into the mobile gaming world.

Did you just say Portal in LEGO Dimensions?

Speaking of crazy, I know you like tablet games, so I think you should check out Galaga: Tekken 20th Anniversary Edition!  It's free, so what have you got to lose? :)

Yup, I was shocked it is in the game, but I can see that playset being a huge hit, and one I might have to pre-order.

I tried Galaga yesterday. I like it because it was like the 1942 clone I had on my Android tablet where I can just pilot the ship and it shoots automatically. I'll probably talk more about it next week.

Darn those LEGO game bugs! Luckily I didn't run into any bugs when I played Star Wars The Complete Saga, but I couldn't finish Lego The Hobbit because of a bug.

Yeah the Lego games have more than their fair share of bugs. The good thing was that I didn't encounter it when I restarted. I don't think I ever finished Hobbit on the consoles because I lost interest in the story. The Vita version I think I played through.

LEGO Hobbit was so cool. I want to finish it. Argh!!!

Hmm...when do you usually play LEGO Star Wars? I'd love to do some co-op with someone sometime.

I've been usually playing a level here and there on the weekends. Heck yeah co-op! Whenever you have some free time, I'm game. We should figure out a good time for both of us!

Saturdays I get out of work at 4:30 Eastern Time (theoretically, at least), so Saturday evenings may be the best.
