Well almost. I tried to put the 750 GB drive in it and it wouldn't take it. I knew it would have to format the drive but it wouldn't even to that much. It kept telling me it needed update 4.70 which I had on my old drive anyway but no go so I put the 500 GB back and I'm going to have the 750 formatted and try again.

I downloaded Guided Fate Paradox and played through the tutorial, it looks like fun but I'm getting bored with games that make me wait for what feels like an hour before letting me do something.

I would really like to switch the drive before I download too much and besides I promised Tami I'd see what it cost to ship the 500 GB to Cabot Cove. :)

Dude, it's Crabapple Cove, not Cabot Cove!

Oh so you were tight with Hawkeye not Jessica?

MASH - such an awesome show. Murder She Wrote - Such an awful show. What with Tom Bosley's atrocious fake Maine accent and all the other fake Maine stuff.

Hey don't you be dissin' on Mr. C. now. I always found Murder She Wrote amusing if nothing else. The list of guest characters fresh from losing their day jobs, including MASH's own Maxwell Klinger was always good for a laugh.

Cool!  I remember when u switched your last drive. It had its hiccups if i recall correctly.

But i bet you are happy u have the ps3 back though.  guided fate paradox looks a little intense though.

That was just long and painful. I was hoping it would just format the frikkin' drive and have done with it but it can't even do that.

The game actually looks like fun unless it makes me do a lot more reading.

It's like you're playing a shitty minigame in REAL LIFE!

I wouldn't want to be the one to redownload 500 GB of games to the new drive. Or maybe that's not as awful as it sounds?

It's a case of downloading every game again so it's a huge pain in the ass. Especially since you have to go sequentially through your download list or remember all the games on it. Themes are a whole other can of worms.

Organization of downloadable material from the PS Store is really backwoods.

It's not much better on 360. They give you a list of everything, that's good, but you can't sort it in any way. It took me two days to do it all.

Oh I'll get it running unless I brick it first. :)

I miss my PS3.

Given that I couldn't play PS1, 2 or 3 games on a PS4 I would not be able to exist without my PS3. I've lost physical BC with PS2 games but at least I can still play my digital games.

You probably tried but isn't there a way to download the the update on the USB stick, and then install it onto the new Hard Drive? I've always wanted to upgrade the hard drive on the PS3, but I've heard you can do it on the PS4, so I might do that instead.

Yep there is that option but yesterday but I'm not sure it will work given that the old drive is encrypted by the old PS3 and may not even be readable as is.

I actually tried it yesterday and couldn't get the new PS3 to read the USB flash drive. Then I realized that the 8 GB stick was formatted as NTFS which PS3 cannot read. Dumb me. I may try again tonight but I'm thinking formatting the old drive is my best bet.

Hopefully everything worked out. I tried to do the swap once on the PS3 but the damn little screws were a hassle and by the time I got them off I realized I bought the wrong hard drive. I gave up. Lots of luck!

Didn't bother trying last night. No energy after a day at work. Maybe on the weekend.

the HDD can be a hassle. when I got my 16 GB flash memory PS3 model I had a hard time trying to get it to recognize the 1TB HDD I was putting into it. finally got it going though I had to use a USB drive to upload the latest software update. Never again!

I've upgraded from 60 to 320 to 750 but I've never tried to just reformat an old drive and start over.
