Good Morning and Happy June Pixlbit Nation! I hope you good people had a good weekend, spending time with those games you’ve been dying to play during the week, and maybe exploring some new stuff. Since it is the beginning of the month (today my Lego Imperial Shuttle will finally be available in stores so hopefully Target has it so I can price match at Toys R Us, and get the points)

This isn’t as fancy as the UCE version but I wasn’t about to spend $200-300 on a set, although Toys R Us did have one right around the time I was debating on getting a PS4. Anyways since this is Monday, this latest chat is more about video games than Lego so let’s get started!

May Review

May was a little slow when it came down to taking down games from Mount Backlog but I did cross off four (technically three but I’ll explain in a bit) and I removed one game from my PS4.

I uninstalled NBA 2K14 from the PS4. I did everything I wanted with the game and since 2K had their blunder with the game needing to be online even with an offline file I have soured on this game. Since they fixed this issue, I might pick up 2K15 but not for awhile, most likely in July.

As for my technicality when it comes to how many games I completed, the one game I’m kind of counting is Injustice on the iPad. I didn’t get through the last group of fighters but I no longer want to grind through the game to finish it. There are much better games to play than to get frustrated and besides I’ll still go back and play the tournament stuff, but I’m done with the story mode.

What I’m Playing

MLB 15 The Show – PS4: Guess who has a 40 game hitting streak in Double A ball?

If this game follows what MLB 14 did, I’ll move up to Triple A ball after the All Star Break.

Madden 25 – PS4: The Cleveland Browns are currently 6-0 and I just pulled off another deal where I sent this year’s 1st Round and 2nd Round Picks, and next year’s 1st Round Pick to Kansas City for their 1st Round Pick. At the time the Chiefs were 0-6 but have since won a game so it looks like that pick might be #4 overall. I’m hoping to have that Madden Magic and parlay that #4 overall trade down a spot at a time, trading for their #1 and a 2nd round pick to around pick 6 or 7 and grab a Franchise Wide Receiver. The two WR’s I’m looking at are rating at the bottom of the Top 10 so hopefully I can have my choice and have a bunch of 2nd Round Picks to grab another WR and fill holes on the roster. My big free agent singing of a trio of WR’s is about to hit contract renegotiations and I’d like to have young guys fill those spots.

Saints Row IV – PS4: Currently I’m not touching the main storyline and playing through side missions and I just started Pierce’s group. I’m actually having a lot of fun taking this approach because my character is getting closer to the Level 50 cap and hopefully soon I can have all unlimited weapons before tackling the final missions.

I find it funny that PSN updates my status with how many shards I’ve collected. I already unlocked the map with all the collectables and I cleared out one island, but I haven’t been actively looking for them. If I spot them while flying to a location I’ll collect them. I don’t think I will be trying to earn gold in all events like I did with the 360 version.

Puzzle Dragons Super Marion Bros Edition – 3DS: I’m currently at the end of World 2 where you hop on Bowser’s Airship (it’s not really a spoiler if you’ve played previous Mario games. It follows the same setup.) I’ve been having my lunch handed to me by the AI. It’s not frustrating because I do get to keep the stuff I collected and every so often new members show up that I can use to upgrade my team.

Spider-man Unlimited – iPad: I’ve moved up to Champion Level, and I got a whole bunch of Iso-8 crystals that I used on a couple of new Spider-man characters. I also unlocked one of the three or four original game characters I needed

Still playing the game every night during Wheel of Fortune (I wait for Jeopardy)

Simpsons Tapped Out – iPad: The latest update brought in Malibu Stacy’s Mansion, Malibu Stacy’s creator and Mrs. Quimby

I do like that she’s wearing a pillbox hat and matching dress like a certain first lady.

Flow – iPad: When not playing Saints Row over the weekend I’ve been going through puzzles in this game.

Currently I am in the Extreme Pack, playing through the 9X9 levels. 9X9 is a hell of a lot easier than the 13X13 Mania I was stuck in for the past couple of weeks. The final three packs are going to be tough because they go up to 14X14 boards.

Last week I started a new runner with a familiar face

Tomb Raider finally makes an appearance with the usual runner games. You would think that how popular Temple Run was, this game was a no brainer but it took a while to capitalize on it. Just like any other Freemium game on tablets there are ways to throw money at the game to get everything upgraded

You’re crazy to spend $20 on this game, go spend that money on the console or on Steam.

Anyways the game is just like any runner, with some minor differences like running on walls like Prince of Persia, and some levels where you actually have to swipe up and down while running on the side of a mountain.

This game is a lot harder than other runners, and I’ve found that at times the controls feel sluggish and I’ve run into walls. When I first started playing I had to get use to the slower pace, and adjusting to running on walls instead of trying to jump over the endless pits.

One of the fun things I haven’t seen since the Brave movie tie-in game was the ability to shoot at certain potions in the game. I guess in the Tomb Raider world lizard hybrids have weapons and leave crates filled with coins, explosives and health packs.

There are also vehicles, cut scenes where Lara jumps over objects or makes her way down to different parts of the jungle. The purpose of the game is to collect different pieces of a map that will lead you to an area where you can find an artifact. There are a number of artifacts to collect and after collecting each one, you are rewarded with in game currency that can be spent on upgrades and other goodies.

Also every five hours there is a supply drop that offers up rewards such as diamonds, coins, and other goodies.

Tomb Raider Relic Run needs some getting used to if you’re used to faster runner games, but just like Temple Run there is no limit on how many times you can play and you don’t really need to spend any real money on this game.

This popped up a couple of days ago on my Flipbook feed and I’d like to share it with you good folks.

If you folks have $200-300 burning a whole in your pocket and wanted something like a Chromecast or Apple TV but also wanted to be able to play some games, this might be for you. Here’s another video with a more in depth look at the NVidia Shield TV.

EDIT!

Lego Launches Its Minecraft Competitor - The Next Web

It was only a matter of time before Lego made their own version of Minecraft. I'd probably try it if it ever made its way to the iPad or PS4.

Alright Pixlbit I am off! Have a good week!

That’s all for now, more later!

-Chris

ha Mrs. Quimby.  now that's a forgotten character.

I want to get a shield tablet once I have a computer that can stream to it.  Who knows when that will be.....

That is the cool thing about the Shield line, is being able to stream your games. Hopefully you get your new PC soon so you can continue making music...and maybe throw in a little game time.

Weekend... what is this weekend of which you speak? Seriously, though, I finished off Lego Batman 2 Saturday evening after work, walking the dog (and taking a billion pictures), and running. Managed 100% and the only achievement I'm missing is the play a level in co-op one.

Hot damn congrats on hitting 100% on Batman 2. That one darn minikit is holding me back. Hopefully you can get that last achievement soon and get a perfect achievement score.

Got it this AM. I just plugged in the other controller and did the level where you drive around and shoot at the Joker Mech. Which level are you missing the minikit on? And do you have all the red bricks? Just turn on the mini-kit finder. I don't think it's cheating, as I earned all my red bricks.

That same level you earned your final achievement on. I have everything else but I can't seem to find one of the minikits. I follow all the arrows and nothing. Watch if I go back to it right now, I'll probably find it on the first try.

There are a couple that you have to time right, took me five tries to find one of them.

About time someone challenged Minecraft, and that Nvidia thing. Looks like the future to me.

I wonder how Lego's version of Minecraft will effect their relationship with the Minecraft developers especailly since they make Minecraft Lego sets.

I'll wait a bit on the NVIDIA console. I had high hopes for the Ouya and that didn't do well. Hopefully this one has better luck.

i just heard that the Super Mario make your own levels game, I forget the actual title, is Nintendo's attempt to do something like Minecraft where you make stuff. Everybody is getting in on it, but darn late. Minecraft's been out for years and years. What were they all waiting for?
