Good morning Pixlbit Nation! My Monday is starting off slow but it will pick up later on today, but for right now, I want to take a nap. Anyways so how was your weekend? Anything fun happen? Did you play any games? Of course you did, you’re Pixlbit and all you do is play games. So did any of you catch the X-Games? On ESPN 3, they aired the eGames portion where a couple of teams played Heroes of the Storm (remember way back when I was making fun of them for the college version?) Well this time they gave the competitors the same medals as those handed out on the X-Games. I’m sorry game players but I don’t think playing a video game is a sport. So I watched that for a bit just to see how the X-Games was going to treat it before moving on to watching an episode or two of Daredevil (I think I am on Episode 10 or 11 now.) Anyways it is Monday, and we usually save TV Talk for Friday so let’s get started!

Took another game off Mount Backlog!

Saints Row IV: If you are a Playstation Friend, sorry about all the updates on the timeline. On Friday I believe I was around a little more than halfway through the game, and it was time to finish this game so I could play something new. Most of my weekend was taking on the regular missions, collecting everything, and upgrading my weapons for the final boss battle. I played through that and on late Saturday afternoon I finished off the storyline, and started on Enter the Dominatrix DLC. I really don’t want to play the DLC but I might do it just to get it out of the way. I also don’t want to tackle Gat out of Hell either because I already played it and I’m bordering on Saints Burnout.

Other Games I Played

Drive Club – PS4: I completed the Semi Pro races after a couple of tries, unlocked a couple of cars and I’m now making my way through the next group of races before the Pro race. It takes me a couple of tries before I get into the “actual racing” mode instead of the hold your finger down on the accelerator arcade action.

Lego Movie Videogame – PS4: I think this is the next game I just want to finish and get it out of the way. I played through the PS3 and Vita version, and the burnout is real but I paid $20 for the dang game, I’m going to get my money’s worth. Everything is Awesome!

Spider-Man Unlimited – iPad: I’ve been playing through this mode for everyday for a week there has been a new challenge. Complete it and you’re one step closer to earning a new premium Spider-Man character. I have one day left and the new round starts around 7pm Best Coast time.

Simpsons Tapped Out – iPad: The Simpsons added a new building, character, and maybe a new community event to celebrate Pride Month

A premium building with Briscoe

And Rainbow themed items.

I wonder if some random ultra religious group will try to make a name for themselves and call this update “harmful to youths” and try to boycott the game.

Injustice/WWE Immortals – iPad: Both games have a new tournament to unlock new characters

Injustice has a new Arkham Origins Joker and

Immortals has Stephanie McMahon. The game also has a special pack where for $20 you get either a Stephanie McMahon pack or Dean Ambrose pack. Each pack comes with two cards, and 15,000 credits. I think it is freaking insane to charge that much.

Alpha Omega – iPad: This is a new puzzle game I started playing last week because it went free for a couple of days. It was billed as the new crossword game where only the first and last letter are given. The only clue is that the there is a one or two word common bond that the words in the puzzle share

As the game gets harder, even the common bond blanked out

You can only move a letter once, and it can only move within the word it is in, unless it’s a letter that is shared by two words. It’s a little tricky but fun. The numbering follows the Greek Alphabet and so far I am in the Gamma group.

So I saw this ad from GameStop in my inbox last week

When did last gen become “Old-School?” I could have sworn classic plastic was old school.

I’ll end our catching up with this

How cool is this picture? Yeah I watched the final leg of the Triple Crown on Saturday, this is one of my favorite shots from the race. I borrowed the image from Reddit.

That’s all for now, more later!

I didn't even realize that was the first Triple Crown in 37 years when I was watching. Between that and this close NBA Finals, sports has been pretty exciting for June.

June so far has been a good sports month. The last leg of the triple crown, a really entertaining NBA Finals, NHL Finals, Women's World Cup, and well baseball still has a long way to go before the races become interesting.

First year I have missed all three Triple Crown Races! And of course this is the year it happens!!! I remember Affirmed winning in 1978, I was nine at the time. I think I was sleeping on the floor of the Charlotte airport at the time.

That has to sting a bit. The build up to the second and third races added to the fun for this casual fan. To be honest I thought AP wouldn't win the third race. Glad I was wrong.

It takes an exceptional horse to be able to run the short distance of the Preakness and the longer distance of the Belmont. Most horses are either sprinters (the Preakness winners) or stayers (the Belmont), few are both. Look up the footage of Secretariat's win of the Belmont sometime if you want to see something incredible. After he died, they did an autopsy and discovered that his heart was almost twice the size of the average thoroughbred's heart.

Is that the footage where he won by something crazy like 30 lenghts? Talk about a powerful performance. I do remember around 2000 ESPN did their list of most influential athletes of the century and there was some drama about Secretariat being on the list. I had no problems when they showed how dominant he was.

Yep, that would be the one. Thirty-one lengths, to be exact. What an amazing animal!

my mom loves horse racing.  not into betting or anything, just loves the horses.  she watches that shit all day until the final payoff.  It's great.

I was telling my friend that horse racing would be a fun live event. I missed out on going to Del Mar while in college but it would probably be fun to check out now. Its nice to know that folks like your mom loves the races for the animals, and not the betting. That's real appreciation for the horses.

yeah i mean obviously there's controversy with some people thinking it's cruel to the horses and that can be debated.  But for my mom, she just loves the horses.

I'm right next to The Devon Horse Show grounds where they have competitions several times a year - not racing but jumping. They just had one last week. I might go if I can get someone I know to go. No sense soloing it.

Hey how about that, there's a horse jumping arena 10 minutes from my house. It's out in the middle of the desert and the buildings are only used for two weeks out of the year. I should check it out too when their season kicks back up.
