Pixlbit Nation, Happy Friday! The weekend is back, and I’m ready to spend the next couple of days playing some games, enjoying the air conditioning (its 100 degrees here) and maybe take a trip for CD Saturday/Sunday. So do you folks have planned? Anything fun? So this past week has been good. I knocked out one game off Mount Backlog, making some good progress in a couple of other games, and maybe snuck in a picture or two. Let’s get started with Quick Hits With Chris!

Chris Has A Project…

Last week I decided that my old 2TB external hard drive needed to be used so I spent a couple of days moving over files from there to a folder on my 3TB Lossless Music Drive. I formatted the drive so that I could use it on my Mac and my PC laptops and it has become my new Photos drive. I also have a couple of different files on there, but its main use will be to hold the pictures I have taken. Just to make sure that I don’t lose anything I will also use part of my Lossless Music Drive as a backup until I get around to buying a backup for it.

Chris Watches…

Hell’s Kitchen: The season finale was this past week and I have to say I was unimpressed with the two finalists. To be fair I felt this season was underwhelming. There really wasn’t a standout chef, and I spent most of the season making fun of everyone.

Archer: I’ve been avoiding this past season’s episodes so I can binge watch it when it finally hits Netflix but I’ve caught the mini marathons during the Nocturnal Showings. Archer is such a good show.

NXT/ROH: Wednesday has become my big wrestling night. Monday Night has Raw, but I’ll usually catch a couple of matches before losing interest because Raw is just too long hitting 3 hours with many of the matches being filler. With NXT and Ring of Honor (ROH) it’s on for an hour and the content is always really good. I’m happy that ROH is now on TV because TNA Impact (the wrestling program that follows ROH) is not good.

Game of Thrones: This season has been a roller coaster of emotions. Heck I’m actually ok with the GoT zombies (I still think the whole Zombie craze is stupid) and in keeping with what happened in previous episode 9’s, this episode had a couple of WTF moments along with borrowing from Attack of the Clones and Neverending Story. I have a couple of theories on what’s going to happen in the season finale this week and it involves a couple of big characters getting killed off.

Women’s World Cup: USA! USA! The USWNT started off a bit slow especially with Alex Morgan not starting, but Rapinoe, and Press scoring, they got past Australia 3-1. They will now take on Sweden and face off against their former coach Pia Sundhage.

Since the summer is in full swing and many of my shows are on hiatus until the fall I’m going to be spending more time watching Netflix

My list of stuff to watch. I’m going to add more stuff on that list once I finish off movies, and TV Shows. I’ll probably watch the 1st Season of Arrow again, because it was so good.

Chris Listens To…

I’m thinking this weekend I’m going to add some of my audiobooks that I have sitting that are not in my iTunes library. I like switching over to a book in the middle of the day and currently I’ve been listening to one of Adam Carolla’s books (his 1st, 2nd, and 4th) and I want something new to listen to. I have a couple of Grisham books I’d like to check out.

As for actual music I’m making my way through the albums I bought over the past couple of months. During my play through I found a couple of songs that I really like including this track from Kesha

I couldn’t stop laughing through the first couple of plays and this song easily makes the summer songs playlist.

Chris Takes Pictures…

So earlier this week there was talk about rain because there’s a Hurricane off the coast of California but all it brought were clouds, humidity, one day of under 100 degree weather, and the tease of rain. I wanted to take pictures of rain but it didn’t happen. I did get this

There was a small break in the sea of clouds for some sunlight.

My next shot was taken in the late afternoon

I would have had better luck with my zoom lens but I like how this came out with the leaves are blurry with the exception of the little guy. That's the little bastard that everyone here in the valley should be on the lookout for.

The next shot was taken Thursday morning when I was outside and spotted this little flower

It was a nice yellow flower but I thought the details got a little lost in the color but in black and white the petals have so much detail.

This picture was taken right after the sun went down but there was still some decent light but I needed a little iso boost.

This is a tree that had its flowers blooming and I spent maybe 15 minutes walking around the tree taking pictures from different angles. I was actually at this tree because of the flowers planted underneath but the tree turned out to be more interesting than the plants.

Thanks for looking at my pictures!

Pickups!

Games

During CD Sunday at the mall I stopped by the GameStop where I found a couple of games for super cheap

Both games came out to a little over $5. The Ocean Commander game is supposed to be an underwater shoot’em up. Sounds somewhat interesting right? Well after playing a bit of it, it is very generic and I’ll go over it on Monday.

Monkey Ball is much more interesting and challenging. I guess I found out what Ocean Commander was .90 cents.

You would think that since I really like Lego, I would have jumped on Jurassic World, but the whole Jurassic Park story was cool but it isn’t a must have for me. I enjoyed the book, and the movie, but this new flick doesn’t seem interesting. It’s like the creators took the hunter from the first flick and made a story around him. I’ll pick up the game but probably when it goes on sale. Heck if I buy it before then I might as well buy the PS3 version, and then pick up the PS4 version when it hits $20.

Music

The mom and pop had some new CDs, but I really wasn’t interested in most of them. In fact I really wanted maybe four CDs, on the fence for the fifth. Since 4 CDs is $8 and if I do the Buy 5 Get 5 Free its $10, I might as well buy the CD I was on the fence about and try and find five CDs to get the B5G5 deal.

J. Geils Band’s Greatest Hits was the album I was on the fence about. The Pussycat Dolls is a CD Single, and I got it for the remix of Stickwitu. It also has Santa Baby, which isn’t very good.

These are two CDs I wanted. Animal House because c’mon it’s Animal House “Do you mind if we dance with your dates?” Even if there is no Otis Day and the Knights, the soundtrack is still solid. City of Angels because I don’t have the song Iris by the Goo Goo Dolls. It is one of those must have songs for my high school playlist.

I wanted Dawson’s Creek because that was the big show my friends and I watched in college. Love Katie Holmes. I found another Hawaiian album to add to the library.

Godfather II Soundtrack because it’s the Godfather and I already have the 1st soundtrack. If I ever run into the 3rd film I’ll probably add that to the library as well. I took a chance on 21. I never saw the film, but I know the story.

I’m not really a fan of Adam Sandler’s standup, but since it was free I’ll give it a shot. New Moon I was shocked about. I figured it was going to be the one album I couldn’t find anything I liked on it, but it turns out I found a couple of songs.

Toys

Ok so right around the CD pickups I took a break, went to Walmart to buy a new card for my phone (see what I would miss if I just had my phone plan connected to my bank account) I found out that my new Walmart has a clearance aisle for toys and there was a ton of Lego. The one big set I wanted was the new Pirate Ship, and it was $65, which isn’t bad until I inspected the box and it was opened. This was a deal breaker for me so I put it down. I did find a small set that was released during the holiday’s for $1.50

It’s a cool little set.

The Hot Wheels wall got refilled and I found a couple of new cars

I might keep the green truck and give my baby cousin the red car.

I added another 8 Crate because its such a cool wagon. I’ve always been fascinated with the El Camino because it was part car, part truck. The one I had previously I gave to my cousin, but since I found another one, I’m going to hang on to it.

When I was checking out the cashier asked if they were for me because there is a guy that always goes in there and buys a ton of cars for his collection. He must have hoarded Brian’s Fast and Furious Escort.

 Sneakers

Ok so since the start of the year I’ve liked the Adidas ZX Flux sneaker because I thought it is such a good mix of a classic silhouette with modern touches. It reminds me of the old Reebok Classics, and the Fila shoe that was similar to the classics. Those were the shoes I bought my Junior Year of High School. Those were easily my favorite shoes and I wore them down to the point where I think the heel started to break. Anyways I never got back to those classic Nylon sneakers until I saw the ZX Flux.

The ZX Flux had a ton of different print options and a handful of them were really cool, except they were a bit busy for me. Adidas also has an app where you can upload a high resolution picture and Adidas would print them on your shoes. Anyways instead of going towards the customized route I found the perfect shoe I want for the summer that also mixes the flower print I’ve been wanting for a couple of years now.

The Hawaiian print models Adidas made was the shoe for me so while out on CD Sunday I picked up a pair. This shoe is really comfortable and isn’t too loud. As a bonus check out the outsole

It reminds me of a certain classic video game.

Alright Pixlbit I am off to jump back into Watchdogs with a new game. Hopefully this time I can finish it. Have a good weekend Pixlbit!

That’s all for now, more later!

-Chris

So for this week’s song I’m going with one that has been stuck in my head for the better part of this week

Sounds good. I'm hoping by the end of summer there will be a sale and I might jump.

No plans other than work for the weekend. Some of us have to work so others can play.

Lovely photos, by the way. I post most of mine on Facebook. Throw a friend invite my way if you want to see them sometime.

You'd think after all these years of asking someone would have given her directions. Heck these days she could use a GPS.

For a second I thought Ocean Commander said OCD Commander. What kind of game would that be?

Hahaha can you imagine a game where you have to align everything and if something isn't perfect you'd fail? I now wait for the folks who made Goat Simulator to come up with this game.

Oh damn! I gave away that idea. Pewdiepie will be playing it and before you know it, it'll be a hit.

Given the title of this blog, I expected to see The Shawshank Redemption on your watchlist.

After having the radio on to a news channel for most of the day, all they kept talking about was the escaped cons in NY, and I thought about watching Shawshank.
