Happy Wednesday Pixlbit! I saw this pop up on my Twitter feed and I thought I’d share it with you.

I’m excited to see this game come to iOS because it not only looks really good, it also sounds like it is a legit football game especially compared to what EA has previously released. If you played a Sega Genesis in its heyday, you remember (in a robotic voice) Joe Montana Sports Talk Football. Well it looks like the franchise is back and I signed up for information on it, and when it is released I will most likely buy it (assuming it will be within the usual $5-10 mobile game range.)

I do have a couple of concerns about the game:

  1. Not having an NFL License might hurt the game. Previous games that didn’t have the license didn’t do as well because the casual fan will want to play with teams they know/follow.
  2. Controls. Since this is a mobile game is it going to be a virtual controller on screen or some other option? As much as I love gaming on an iPad, controls for console ports like NBA Jam, and NBA 2K14 have been hit and miss.

Anyways I thought I’d share this with you good people.

That’s all for now, more later!

-Chris

If the game is good, hopefully, it won't matter if it has NFL teams or not.  The first Joe Montana game on the Genesis didn't have a NFL rights.  NFL stamp would help it though.

That's right it didn't have the NFL. I'm hoping its good so mobile gaming can get more solid titles instead of microtransactions: the game.

Holy hell, that looks as good as anything I've seen run on my PS4. Damn, those phones are fancy!

There are a couple of really nice phone/tablet games. Hopefully the trend for mobile gaming is this instead of more in-app purchases.

I hope it's a Football runner game. Why hasn't anyone done that already?

There was a kind of football runner on Android. It was called Backbreaker and you started from one end of the field and had to score while dodging defenders. If you completed the run, you would move on to the next more difficult stage. It was really good and its a shame it never made it to iOS.

Ha! That sounds kind of good actually.

It was a lot of fun. It reminded me of the old Tiger Handheld Football game where you would zig zag through defenders.
