Greenman Gaming had Arkham Knight for $36 so I went ahead and bought it. Excited to play it now.
The $5 Hour, And Are You Going To Buy Batman Arkham Knight?

Pixlbit Nation what is up? The week has started up, the weather is hot, and I am back to recapping what I played over the past week. So how are you good people? Everything good? This past weekend I went to the local GameStop with the intention of pre-ordering this game
We shall see on Friday if I did actually buy the game.
This past weekend I decided to try something new, that helps my Monday blogs but also helps me discover new random games, so I saw we should start with that.
The $5.00 Hour Background
While roaming around a couple of GameStop’s and the local Swapmeet I noticed a lot of games tend to hover around or below the $5 price point. These also happen to be some of the games that I like to look through because there could be hidden gems, older titles that have since had major price drops, shovelware, and other randoms. Since I like looking through these games I decided to try something new, to play the game for an hour and see if it is something I want to continue with, or a game that should sit in storage. Here are some rules I came up with for the $5 Hour
- Each game has to be under $5 before tax: There’s no point in checking out a $6 game in the $5 Hour
- Has to be a full hour no matter how good/bad the game is
- The game can’t be a sports game. (Football, Basketball, Baseball, Hockey. Extreme Sports are fine)
- The challenge is open to all platforms that I currently own
I’ll probably add more rules to list, and let’s start $5 Hour
The $5 Hour: Tron Evolution: Battle Grids ($4.50 Used GameStop) – Wii
Plot: I’ve decided to focus on the Story Mode of the game where your created character is in the Tron Universe where you complete in a series of games taken from the Tron films. When not competing in these games your character is able to roam around various mini hubs completing tasks, collecting bites, and upgrading/purchasing upgrades and equipment.
Gameplay: The controls are fine and utilize the WiiMote in its sideways form, which by the way isn’t comfortable. It also uses motion like raising the WiiMote to make your light cycle jump. The funky thing with this is that when you select a mission you have to hold the WiiMote like a remote control to select the objective.
I spent the first 30 minutes of the Hour trying to get through the first game, which was a light cycle battle with a character that becomes your guide through the Tron Universe. It was tough trying to get the controls down but after a couple of rounds I was able to advance.
From what I’ve seen, the multiplayer allows users to play the games available in the story mode. Since I haven’t actually tried this mode I don’t know if they are available right away or if they have to be unlocked.
After the Hour: After my hour was up I continued to play the game because I liked the somewhat openness of the game and the grid games are fun. I originally bought the game because of the light cycles but after my hour play through I’m going to continue this game. It’s a lot different than the Tron game I played on the PS3, and from what I read this game was made for the Wii and DS, and happens before the events in the other Tron Evolutions games.
Other Games I Played
NBA 2K15 – PS4: I am in game 7 or 8 in my My GM Mode with the Milwaukee Bucks. I have three 1st Round Picks and I’m thinking about moving one of my picks for a shot at a better 1st Round Pick.
Motorcycle Club – PS4: Surprisingly this game isn’t as terrible as it looks. There are no frills like dialogue or music, but the racing is decent and having the ability to switch between three different bikes in real time to fit the current need is an interesting part of the gameplay. I’m playing through the Tournament Mode where to unlock new Tournaments I have to race in a special race for the ability to buy a motorcycle that’s associated with that tournament. Kind of clunky but it works and so far I’m enjoying this budget title.
Spider-man Universe – iPad: The new Level 110 character was released and its available first to the highest scoring player in the newest tournament
This will probably be won by the folks who are cheating at the game and manage to get the ridiculous scores you see (its usually the folks in Asia.) This is also another week long tournament where everyone who completes each day’s challenge will receive a special character. These have become my favorite and I’m hoping to complete this week’s challenges.
WWE Immortals/Injustice – iPad: It seems that Immortals patched the glitch where if you buy a character, you can tap on the purchase button a number of times, to get multiples for the price of one character. Since I’m on iPad, there isn’t a lag like on Android and I could only get 3-4 instead of the 10s-20s that folks on Android got. Anyways this is the new price for this week’s tournament
For Injustice tomorrow they are releasing a pack of characters to coincide with the release of Arkham Knight
I think I already have these characters but I’ll buy a pack or two to see if there are any more special characters from the game.
Simpsons Tapped Out – iPad: The game quietly updated and now I am not at Level 54
And two new characters make their way to Springfield
Free Flow – iPad: Over the weekend I finished off the second to last set of puzzles in this game and I am now on the final pack. I’m a little more than halfway finished and this will be the first iPad game where I unlock all trophies. I guess I should call them Achievements considering that’s what Apple’s Game Center calls them.
Randoms:
Yesterday while adding games to my Wii Hard Drive, I must have hit a button because my current games in my library no longer show up when I boot from it. The bad part is the games I installed after this don’t load up. Later on today I’m going to visit YouTube and figure out what went wrong.
Well folks its Monday, and I'm off, have a good week!
That's all for now, more later!
