While I definitely see  the PC Master Race peoples' point, I have to say it feels damn good to have a console again. Especially one that gives me free indie and sometimes newer retail games every month. I mean I pay $50 a year for those "free games," but considering how much I've gotten out of them, I'd say that's a steal considering new games are $60.

I definitely need to get my ass in gear and actually fix my resume so I can start looking for jobs again, but in the meantime I've been relaxing after graduation with some game-y games.

I just finished the demo of Destiny, which took over 5 hours to download because of the 17GB application data file, 7GB update file and whatever the game itself was. I've told my parents (yup, living at home again; I miss my apartment and my freedom, but I'm ok with avoiding bills for a bit) if they have an outrageous Internet bill, I'll pay the difference since I'd probably be the cause of any overdoing. I immediately saw why people loved and hated this game and, as per usual, I'm somewhere in the middle from what I've played. It's gorgeous and massive and probably a lot of fun to play with friends. You level up quickly and get new stuff quickly as well. But it's also repetitive as all hell. I didn't like not being able to shoot from your speeder vehicle either, although maybe I just didn't know how. I see why my friend loves it so much and why his girlfriend (who doesn't  like him playing it) hates it. To me, it feels a lot like Halo as an MMO, what with the enemy aliens and overall design. Makes sense, since Bungie made it.

The demo lets you get to Level 5 before asking you to buy the game. I'm amazed how much of the game both this and The Crew demos let you play. Speaking of The Crew, I actually deleted the demo before getting to the end of it. I don't know why, really. It was fun enough, but nothing spectacular, visually or storywise in my opinion. Gameplay was pretty straightforward racing. I don't really care about open world racing games to be honest. I just like quick arcade experiences like Burnout  or Need for Speed. The game sold a few million copies though, so there must be something to it. I'm itching for a racer to play though, because The PS4's R2 button is satisfying to push for some reason.

Hell, part of why I play Tennis to the Face (which I actually bought some time ago on sale after a demo) so much is because I love that right analog stick/R3 and R2 control combo. It's weird, I know. But after thinking the Xbox One had a much better controller, I've really gotten used to my PS4's. Whether that's cognitive dissonance or not, it's made gaming pretty satisfying. I'm currently 257th in the world for overall score and extra tennis balls. The game bases its points system on what you hit and how many balls or exploding drink cans you use to do it when facing off against clowns, hipsters, scientists, cops, and/or businessmen.

I beat Guacamelee a couple days ago and unlocked hard mode. That's one game where a Platinum trophy would have to be way down the line, but I might actually like trying for the achievements. Hard mode lives up to its name so far though, and I'm not far at all in my new file. I got the bad ending in Normal mode after beating Calaca I think. I thought you were supposed to use certain objects during the fight, but I found it easier to just wail on the guy. That's actually what happens with me in Tennis to the Face a lot: I'll think to use the elaborate set ups with explosions and obstacles, but a more straightforward approach works best in many cases.

I've also been playing Ether One. I'm excited to see where this story is going and I like the kind of point and click gameplay, although I do get bored searching every nook and cranny and sometimes finding nothing of interest in too many places. The game could use a map too. But I do like the puzzles you figure out by peoples' notes to each other and hints provided by documents and objects. I want to beat this one too.

I also beat Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes, which came free on PS+ this month. I gotta say ... I still think it's a fucking demo. A great looking demo, but a demo. Yes, I see that there are other missions you can attepmt, and I have. But it's still the same area. I just don't think I'd have been satisfied with the game had I bought it at $40. Even the $20 it's at now seems iffy to me. I've never exactly been a completionist, if I beat the main story I usually consider myself to have beaten the game. I'm still excited for Phantom Pain though.

I didn't download Skulls of Shogun this month where I usually download any free games, but I just am not a turn-based strategy guy. Playstation's website is saying there are two other PS4 free games this month though, so I'll have to see about those.

I also beat Never Alone, which is about Alaskan native culture. You control a little girl and her pet fox trying to get through a blizzard and you unlock these really cool documentary videos as you play. But it was clearly meant for two players. Lots of awkwardness trying to get both characters to keep up with each other by switching between them towards the end when the action ramps up. I also encountered a few glitches. Still worth checking out though, especially for free.

I've played Rayman Legends and Guilty Gear -SIGN- Xrd off an on as well. Funny those games get so little attention when they're the only ones I paid any real money for. Tennis to the Face  was like $1, whereas I think Xrd was about $20 and Rayman $10-$15. All were on sale in the PS store when I bought them. That'll change soon though, as I think Arkham Knight will be my first ever new game PS4 purchase. I just have to see about how much this car inspection will cost. I got mom to pay me back for the three fillings I had yesterday I initially payed the deductible for and the vet bill today was $78.98 for a shot and ear infection medication for Catara. At least the sample of flea stuff was free. Which reminds me, I have to put that stuff on her soon.

I started Apotheon back up for a second or two, but I think I might restart it from the beginning. It's been a long ass time since I played it. I'm not sure if I'll jump back into Transistor. People seem to love it, but I just wasn't into the kind-of-turn-based-but-in-real-time combat system. I did like the art style and use of the Dualshock 4 speaker and lights though.

I also used my PS4 to Netflix me some Orange is the New Black goodness. My favorite went to max, but my least favorite has definitely become Piper. She's the new Vee in my eyes. Hell, she even pulled some Vee type shit. They seemed to really focus on the backstories this season. Hopefully they keep them interesting and don't just milk those dry to the point it becomes a dramatic real life Family Guy with nothing but flashbacks.

Since my blogs are rambles anyway, I want to start uploading gameplay videos from my PS4 as vlogs on here instead of all this tedious typing. What do you all think? Also, what have you been playing?

$50 a year isnt really a lot considering that some $60 games don't have enough content in them to justify the full cost. There was a certain point where there seemed to be a clear division between PC and console game exclusivity, but now it seems Sony is catching up with the Indie scene and there are great games on PC coming to console like Divinity Original Sin. So, yeah it's a good time to own a console. However, I still like the occasional odd game, indies, that appear on PC though, which I don't think console can touch. Here's to the weird Indie games that no one plays!

I just like knowing everything will run fine without me having to play IT guy. I also just prefer to have a dedicated gaming machine as opposed to using my laptop.

I do still plan on playing my Steam backlog and that's a cool website though. Wonder what Super Win the Game is like.

Speaking of Super Win the Game...I'm working on playing it for review.

Guacamelee! is such a cool game, and I'm one of the folks who loved the Destiny Beta but after playing the game for a bit I lost interest. There's too much backtracking and I think I just gave up right after unlocking a planet. I was interested in The Crew because the physical game dropped to either 20 or 30 bucks but I couldn't justify it when I already own Drive Club which is the same concept.

The vlog concept is a cool idea, something different here on Pixlbit. Are you going to start streaming on Twitch as well?

I've actually tried several times to log into Twitch, but then decided against opening my laptop to have a new password sent out of laziness and just wanting to play. But yes. lol

I never finished Never Alone.  I really like it though.  I'm a sucker for artsy platformers.  They really get me back to my childhood.

What artsy platformers did you play as Lil' Snee Snee?

Well, they were all artsy to me back then, but I think one of my favorites was Mickey Mouse's Castle of Illusion.  That was delightful.  I guess what I meant is games these days reach the limits I imagined I was enjoying back then, if that makes sense.

I take it you're excited for Cuphead?

What is that?  I've heArd of that before.

It's a video game making me jealous of Xbox One owners unless my laptop can somehow run it (doubtful). It's an action/platformer that looks just like an old 30s cartoon.

Still not going to bother with a PS4 for a while, but it's nice to see the indies coming to the console. I remember when most of them at first were on consoles but then ported to PC, but now it seems to be the contrary in most cases.

Guacamelee I need to continue. Is your version the original vanilla release, or the updated version? The latter one is the one I play over Steam.

Maybe you should play Supergiant's (the creators of Transistor) first game, Bastion, before going to Transistor. That one you shouldn't have much problem since it's not a combination of Real-Time with strategy action, but a straight up top-down action game like the 2D Zelda games.

Updated version. Too bad I don't have three other people to play it with, but I loved the game.
