Games Beaten

-Tower of Guns (PS4) (PS+)

Tower of Guns is an arcade FPS that calls back to an earlier period of gaming when there wasn't really a character model behind your gun and the game couldn't be bothered with realistic movement physics. And it's a refreshing experience! There are a set number of floors but the tower is randomized each time; between that and the different guns and perks, this game has plenty of replay value. The Borderlands-esque graphics fit well and I love the sense of humor. I just wish it had co-op. This would be a blast to play with my wife.

Games Bought

Another light month on purchases! I got Picross 3D for the DS (always wanted the normal one for the DS as well but that one is more pricey now) and Tearaway for the Vita. Been looking forward to that one.

As for PS+ the big offering was Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes (PS4). I almost bought this on the cheap a couple times but I'm glad I held off. I'm not likely to play this anytime soon anyway. Skulls of the Shogun: Bone-a-Fide Edition (PS4), so I am told, is a good stand-in for Advanced Wars with a nice sense of humor. I've heard good things about Call of Juarez: Gunslinger (PS3)...from our very own KnightDriver, if I remember right...and I know Cloudberry Kingdom (PS3) is fun because my wife and I played a lot of that last year on the Wii U. That just leaves two PS4/Vita games: Super Exploding Zoo! (wtf?) and Futuridium EP Deluxe.

Now Playing

-Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney—Duel Destinies (3DS)

I've waited far too long to start this game but it certainly has not disappointed. I love the new attorney character, Athena Cykes. The animation is really great too. I guess it's the logical step after Ghost Trick. About to start the fourth episode.

Phoenix Wright: Duel Destinies characters

-Bayonetta 2 (Wii U)

This game is absolutely ridiculous in the best possible way. The set piece battles are crazy and th action is really tight. It's a lot of fun to play.

-Destiny (PS4)

Still working on my gear. At level 33.

-Monster Hunter Freedom Unite (PSP)

Just made it to the highest hunter rank. The toughest monsters are still ahead!

If you do decide to play Ground Zeroes, the main mission won't take long.

I really should just play it. I haven't played an MGS game since The Twin Snakes for the GameCube...which is the only one I've ever played...

I've played that one as well as the original and Sons of Liberty. I keep hearing Snake Eater is the best. So maybe this series is like the opposite of Star Trek movies, where the odd numbered ones are the ones people like the most.

Yep, I loved Call of Juarez Gunslinger. I like the whole seriies but this kind of distilled it all down into a fun shoot 'til you drop blast fest.

The promise of a more arcade-esque experience really interests me.

Oh it's totally arcadey. It could easily be put in a cabinet. Now that would be cool.

Love Picross 3D, that was a really fun game that got a ton of play time at my house between me and Chessa. Picross DS is pretty good too, but not nearly as great as 3D was.

Glad to hear I got the best of the two! Plus I have a great 2D Picross-esque game on my phone called Paint It Back, which has provided hours of puzzle-solving enjoyment. 3D will be something new and different for me.

These games must have a special place in your heart anyway, eh Nick? Wink

Haha, yup! We've always enjoyed the series, so it was obviously an inspiration for our own game. Let's hope it stands up to the high bar set by Nintendo's own games.

Looks like mobile has quite a few nonogram games, so hopefully people still have a thirst for one on a proper console!

Hooray for Phoenix Wright!  Picross 3D is good, too.  HAL made it, so that explains why.  If I had a Vita, Tearaway would be one of the games I would get.

Phoenix Wright is great! I see what you meant about it not really starring Phoenix, but the revolving protagonist thing is pretty nice.

I just read that Capcom released a new Phoenix Wright game in Japan called Ace Attorney X Sherlock Holmes and it's set in the past and stars Wright's ancestor.  I hope they release it in the US!

I remember hearing about that when they first announced it! I really hope that comes out here too. I'm something of a Sherlock Holmes buff.

I bought Ground Zeroes.  I've been thinking a lot about playing it lately too, but haven't pulled the trigger yet.

I'd like to play through this whole series but A) I don't own most of the games and B) that would take a long time! So I'm thinking about just seeing what Ground Zeroes is like...

I have only played MGS4, and I didn't love it.  it had its moments though.

Play Iron Banner and you will hit lv 34 in no time. Put in time on the bounties and save money. I got my Hunter from 32 to 34 last time, Working on my Titan this time around. much easier than poking around in POE.

I played it some the last two days and should get in some more time later this week. I'm glad Iron Banner is just Control. That's my favorite of the multiplayer modes.

I LOVED PW5! Awesome stories, as usual, and how about those anime cutscenes? Pretty sweet! Having each story focus on a different character is really neat. However, I'm still behind the curve on Ghost Trick.

Man, you gotta get yourself a copy of Ghost Trick. Such a good story!
