Happy Friday Pixlbit Nation! It is a breezy 90 degrees here in Sunny Southern California. Currently I have family from Hawaii visiting so I moved my PS4 so my cousins could play it. I noticed it was left on this morning and there is a new game on my XMB, some Plants vs. Zombies game. As long as I didn’t pay for it I’m good. They’ve played a bunch of the Rocket League game, which looks like fun and I might get in on the Season of that game a bit later. I have to say there hasn’t been a lot of gaming from me because I’ve been busy but my cousins are putting in work earning trophies for a couple of games.

Speaking of games I gave them a couple of my games I already played through like COD Ghosts, and Lego Movie Video Game on PS4, and my 6 year old cousin is went through two levels by himself and it was one of the few times he sat down quietly and didn’t go crazy doing random things. Anyways more video game stuff on Monday, Friday is the day I ramble about everything else, usually stuff on TV and whatever I’m listening to, so let’s get started with Quick Hits With Chris!

Chris Listens To…

When I had some free time I started placing the stack of 20 or so CDs that were on the floor into their respective genre books and when I ran out of space they went into the need to sort book. There were a couple of instances of “hey I own this album?” and then checked my iTunes. Sure enough there it is.

I also found my old mp3 discs that I kept that are filled with a bunch of old podcasts I wanted to keep as well as my old backup for my iTunes library from my first laptop. I still want to add them to my iTunes but I might need to upgrade to a 2TB external drive first.

Chris Watches…

Some 80s Flashback Show on National Geographic: This was on last night where it goes over some of the important events in the 80s like the Walkman, VCR’s, and other fun 80s items. When the section about personal computers came up I was telling my cousin that my current phone is more powerful than my first desktop in college. My uncle then said his medical school only had three computers for the entire school. My other cousin said oh ok…while typing away on her iPod Touch. Anyways the show itself was interesting and I wonder if they are going to do one for the 90s.

Big Brother: Last night there was another eviction and it was one of the houseguests I found annoying. She seemed like a bully in the house and when she got bullied herself by the current Head of Household all of a sudden the game went from “I’m here to win” to “I’m doing this for my daughter and not here for the fame.” Wait, what? Yeah she was sitting in the backyard with her only other friend in the house talking about how everyone there was looking for fame. Last time I checked everyone in the house was looking for fame. There are other ways to make money but when she pulled this crap and then talked about doing something positive for her daughter I knew she was full of crap.

USMNT vs. Honduras: This was an interesting game and Honduras played liked it was their Super Bowl. They couldn’t stop Clint Freaking Dempsey. Tonight they play against Haiti in the Gold Cup.

True Detective: The show is still moving at a snail’s pace, but after reading a couple of sites, I must be one of the few who still love it. You’re kept wondering why these events are going on and every week a little more of everyone’s connections are being slowly uncovered. I found out that the city of Vinci is based on Vernon, a city next to LA. This is also the spot that always pops up on the UPS Tracking when I order stuff.

Chris Roams Around…

Home Depot: I made a trip to the “Dee-pot” yesterday and I was surprised I knew where everything was especially since I am rarely in there. I’m liking these heavy-duty storage shelves look.

Costco: I went there in the morning and I am surprised about the number of people who are there buying tons of booze. I must have been the only person buying cases of water, and giant boxes of food in bulk.

Someone Keeps Trying To Log Into My GameStop Account

So for the past couple of weeks I keep getting these email alerts that someone is trying to log into my Power Up Rewards membership. The only place I ever used it is at GameStop which means one of the yahoos there is trying to log in. This happened right after I visited the one location in a questionable part of the neighboring town. After talking to customer support I hopefully fix this issue even after they said “we were not hacked” (I think they are hiding it). If you have a PUR you might want to check your account.

Chris Takes Pictures

There aren’t a lot of pictures for this week. I spent most of the week taking pictures of clouds, and random finds in the garage. Since I do live in a valley, all the big crazy storms usually happen just outside of the valley and earlier this week there was a big storm moving through the area. We had a few drops but the area just outside of the valley must have been hit hard

My last picture for today is another picture from the same cloud formation but this time I gave it the “Ansel Adams” look (kinda)

I added a little bit of noise to age it a bit, and I like how it came out.

Thanks for looking at my pictures!

Pickups!

Games

This has been a busy week finding games including picking up a game I figured my cousins would be playing but instead they are occupied with Rocket League Multiplayer. After looking through my account I noticed that I have a coupon for $20 off The Order that was expiring in a couple of days so…

The price of the game dropped to $40 so for $20 after coupon I have a copy. I know that Fry’s had the Collector’s Edition for $20 but Fry’s stores are always YMMV and besides I don’t want the statue and other stuff I never use. I bought Minecraft so my youngest cousin has something to play but it turns out he is in Lego Movie Mode. I guess I’ll have to play Minecraft now.

After visiting two different GameStop locations I found some cool Wii stuff

I have another Klonoa game. When I got home I thought I accidentally bought this game again but it turns out the copy I was thinking about was another Klonoa game on the PS2. Since I’m having so much fun with Ghost Squad I bought another Arcade Shooter in The House of the Dead 2&3.

I also added a couple of games to check out for the $5 Hour

A funky Jet Ski racing game and a word puzzle game.

Another $5 Hour game is one I found on the iPad

It dropped to 50% off and there was a bundle deal with the first top down Halo game. I skipped on that because I already own that game on the 360. I haven’t played much of Spartan Strike but the controls are very easy to use.

While I was at the two different GameStops I picked up more of these cards

I got two from the store where the manager was trying to give the previous card away as a pre-order bonus. The employee was a huge Pokemon fan and offered me two cards when I asked. She told me that she also took two for her game.

Toys

I never buy Amiibo’s because I think the whole hording of these figures is Nintendo’s way of keeping up with Sony and Microsoft but this figure looks cool and I’ll probably give it to my friend who’s into Zelda

I rarely see it when I walk around the Video Game section of big box stores so I grabbed it when I saw it.

From the same Walmart I found the Amiibo, the Hot Wheels section was reloaded with more cars (still no Fast and Furious 70’s Ford Escort) but I found some cool new cars

I might keep the car on top and give the other four cars to my baby cousin who is car and truck crazy.

In the Clearance aisle I added a Lego set to my collection

Unlike the Frozen Castle Set I opened this one to check out how the Princess Lego sets look. I wish the minifigures were more inline with regular minifigures but other than that the set is ok.

Other Pickups

So I added a new pair of sneakers while roaming around and noticed that this random pair just sitting on the bottom shelf when I was trying on some shoes (this is the same spot that had Ultra Boosts that were 50% off.) I spotted these and they were $20!

Y-3 is a brand created by Japanese Fashion Designer Yohji Yamamoto and he teamed up with Adidas. It is a steal, and my brother is telling me to resell them. I want to wear them so I’m still debating.

Final two items are T-Shirts

Wrestling shirts I bought that are cool looking

I got a Bella Twins and a Macho Man shirt. Oohhhh Yeeeeaaahhhh!

Final shirt is one I bought before the match between Germany and the USA

I added another US Soccer shirt.

Alright Pixlbit, my cousins are up and its time to go spend time with the family. Have a good weekend Pixlbit!

That’s all for now, more later!

-Chris

I don't know if I've ever even logged into my Power Up account myself; it's the free one. I'll check though, thanks for heads up.

I played a few matches in Rocket League after downloading it. That game is fun.

I would love to watch that NatGeo flashback series, especially if they do a 90s one. I saw an article saying my generation is more nostalgic for that decade despite really coming into our own during the 2000s because the shift in tech was so dramatic. Makes sense to me.

Is USMNT on network TV or cable? I might start watching soccer now I have an HDTV.

Good pictures as always. When I was in Vegas, my favorite thing about the MGM Grand was the art shops. I think one photographer was considered "Ansel Adams of color."

And yeah, I think amiibos are a racket. I might get a rare one or two just to be a dick and sell them to desperate collectors. I'd like to say I'm above it, but I become less moral every time I see my college debt. Tongue Out

You should log in just to check for coupons. To be honest I rarely check into my account until I started getting those email alerts.

As for that 80s show there are a bunch of other episodes where they go more indepth. I'd like to see a 90s one as well .

I think all the video game stuff is heading the way of baseball cards in the late 80s/mid 90s where its going to be so saturated that everyone is just going to lose interest. I learned this because of baseball cards and now if I have no use for it, I'm not going to buy them.

I think I watched that 80's series you're talking about.  And I think they did do a 90's one.

Klonoa on Wii is fantastic.  It's a remake of the Klonoa PSOne title.  If you have one on PS2, you have Klonoa 2, another great game.  You should play them!

I think I played a little bit of the PS2 game just to make sure it worked. I'll give the Wii version a run. I'm starting to play on the Wii a bit more and other than the funky controller I'm liking it. Its a good little console.

That freaky red head princess is SCARING ME! Could be it's just late though.

Don't be dissing Merida. That's terrible artwork, though.

I almost saw Brave in the theater. Maybe I'll rent it.

You know I've never seen that movie, yet I've played a lot of their version of Temple Run, and at some point I'd buy to buy the console game.

I want to take pics of the birds in my backyard. I just find them fascinating.  Such busy creatures.  But I need a zoom lense.  Probably will pick one up in the next couple months.  I've been meaning to post some pics but I've been lazy.

Get a zoom lens. Its fun to be able to take pictures from a distance. A couple of shots I've taken have been with a zoom. Some of my fun shots of the local ducks wouldn't have been possible without the zoom.

I let my GameStop powerup rewards card lapse. I never buy anything from them, so it seemed like a waste of money. If someone wants my points, they're welcome to them.

Since they're the only big seller here, I tend to spend a lot of time there. The one good thing is that I accumulate enough points from buying random cheap games that when renewal time comes, I have enough points for another year. Thinking about it, I spend too much there.
