This is where I blame it all on Mothman...
I finally found a copy of Fantasy Life about week and a half ago while on my quest to find e-shop cards for my nephew. It's just as addictive as Animal Crossing. So now I'm playing two extremely addictive games.
Animal Crossing: In my little town of Banditon, I have been merrily filling up the museum with fossils and fish. Insects come a little slower, cicadas and butterflies seem to be the main insects out and about in the daylight, and it's mostly beetles at night. I'm catching fewer new fish, too. I've upgraded my house a few times, Redd has shown up and sold me a forged piece of art and an authentic one. I've started building public works projects - I have a fountain in front of my train station and I'm currently collecting for a Dream Suite, whatever that turns out to be. Once that's built, I'll build another bridge for my convenience, and then an addition onto the museum. That will Blathers the Owl happy. I'm doing well at keeping my flowers alive, and hybrids have started turning up. I have orange tulips, cosmos, roses, and pansies, and some black roses. I have no idea how I'm doing it, don't care, either. One of these days, I'll start moving them around and landscaping the town. I also have a lovely fruit orchard going. My town started with pears, and I've added lemons, mangos, lychees (they look like cherries), bananas, and coconuts. My townspeople seem happy, no one's moved out yet, and I have ten villagers now. I've also been having fun on the island and scored a wetsuit. Some of the mini games seem a little rigged, but whatever. I also have two model homes in the HHA showcase via Street Pass. Now I wish I'd bought AC before I went to Kentucky last month, bet I could have filled the HHA Showcase from all the Street Passes I got in the airports.
Fantasy Life: So much rpg goodness in one small package! I've tried out Blacksmith, Alchemist, Paladin, Chef, Fisher, and now Woodcutter. Blacksmith is my favorite so far, but I'm best at cooking. My chef has reached Expert status. I haven't really gotten very far in the story because I'm so busy with the quests, both job-related and npc. I have managed to acquire two pets for my little dilapidated house in the artisan district, along with some furniture. I have a black cat named Kaylee and a brown dog named Bandit. Not terribly original, I know, lol.
Random bits and pieces: due to having been sucking into the worlds of Animal Crack Crossing and Fantasy Life, I really haven't done much of the usual reading, listening, watching in the past two weeks. With one really big exception. One of the movie theater chains has been doing Cult Classics night on Thursdays. I didn't know about this until a couple of weeks ago when a friend posted on Facebook about having gone to see Jaws in the theater. I checked out what else was playing and discovered that Raiders of the Lost Ark was the next one playing, and at one of the closest theaters to me. A bunch of us got together and went to see it Thursday night. It was awesome! I saw it at the movies when it first came out, and it's been one of my favorite movies of all time ever since. I've owned it on VHS and now on DVD and it's probably the movie I've seen the most. One of the people with us had never seen it before, and he loved it.
I withdrew from the trail races I'd signed up for. I've been having issues with vertigo, and the humidity has been making my asthma act up, so I felt that I was not physically ready to run them, and I had been stressing about it for a month. I'm out $60, but I feel it was the right decision. I'll be ready for the snowshoe series, though!
WIldlife and ranger stuff: Living in the country is great. I looked out my front window yesterday and there were eleven turkeys right in front of my porch. Two adults and nine little ones. Thursday night, the weather cooled down, and I had shut off the AC and opened the windows. I had to close them again when the coyotes started up with their eerie-ass hunting noises behind the cottage because it was freaking out the cat. Her ears were flat back against her head and she had both paws wrapped around my neck.
At the park, the one viewable pair of osprey that managed to hatch chicks is doing well. There were three chicks, but the smallest one didn't survive. It's pretty common, especially since they need vast quantities of fish every day in order to survive. The parents feed whichever beak opens first, and if there isn't enough food, the smaller, weaker chicks don't make it. The two remaining chicks are both looking very healthy, though, and one of them may be flying very soon.
Well, Pixlbit Nation, I need to finish getting ready for work, and hopefully fit in a little time on the 3DS before I leave.
