 He's got maximum pink...

Hey Pixlbit, how's it going? As you may or may not be aware. today is Kirby's 23rd anniversary. Kirby has certainly come a long way from a white round marshmallow, to a pink round marshmallow. One that can copy opponents abilities and use them against them. I think I've already talked about my favorite Kirby games previously, but I never talked about my favorite Kirby abilities. Or maybe I had, but I don't remember and maybe any of you don't either.

At any rate, here's the obligatory anniversary post, this time focusing on Kirby's trademark ability. Or my favorite Kirby copy abilities:

Fighter Kirby

Fighter Kirby, or as my brother likes to call him, Street Fighter Kirby. Because who else does he look like. Kirby even has moves that seem to be inspired by Street Fighter. Heck, Kirby even has an energy attack that looks like a Hadouken. Also, when Kirby's attacks connect, it makes these sound effects that almost sound like if they came from Street Fighter.

High Jump Kirby

High Jump Kirby. The first thing you might think, is that did Kirby eat Thor? He kinda does. But no.  But what Kirby gains is the ability to jump high in the air. I know it may seem useless since Kirby can fly. However Kirby jumps in the air with great force that he can destroy enemies and obstacles in his path.

Ball Kirby

Ball Kirby. Kirby already resembles a pink ball, so what did they do? Make Kirby resemble a ball even more. Basically as Ball Kirby, you can bounce everywhere and attack everything in your path. It's a bit tricky to use and you have to be careful or you might fall off course. It's so strong, in fact you can keep attacking bosses with it and beat them pretty quick.

Fire Kirby

Fire Kirby. One of Kirby's basic abilities.  Kirby gains the ability to exhale fire at his enemies. You can burn enemies, and plants, and even light up cannon fuses. There used to be a Burning Kirby ability which Kirby did a flame tackle to destroy obstacles he normally wouldn't, but they actually merged that into Fire Kirby.

Yarn Kirby

Yarn Kirby. Kirby as he appears in Epic Yarn. This is what Kirby normally looks like in the game, but he can also transform while in yarn form. He can turn into a car when Kirby needs to go fast, a parachute when he needs to float down, or some sort of weight when he needs to use his weight on something. He can also transform into especial forms in some levels, like a firetruck, a UFO, or even a tank. He is also invulnerable to attacks. He can't die.

Wheel Kirby

Wheel Kirby. When Kirby eats a Wheelie enemy, he turns into Wheel Kirby. This turns Kirby into a tire and moves at a high speed. You can ram anything that gets in your way. You can even go above water.

Laser Kirby

Laser Kirby or as I like to call him, Cyclops Kirby. I always liked this ability, mostly because it was fun shooting lasers and watching them rebound on surfaces. Haven't seen this ability lately though.

UFO Kirby

UFO Kirby is probably one of the coolest looking abilities and one of the rarest ones. You get this by sucking up and eating a UFO. I'm not joking. But what makes this cool, is the fact that Kirby rides a UFO! Not only that, but Kirby can also use different kinds of lasers, from simple lasers like Laser Kirby, to charged up laser attacks. This ability probably made Laser Kirby redundant, except for the fact that you don't find UFO enemies often.

Crash Kirby

Crash Kirby is probably one of Kirby's most powerful abilities. Crash Kirby has the ability to destroy every enemy on screen. It even gives a good amount of damage to bosses. In other words, Crash Kirby is like a living nuke or something. But since it's so powerful, you can only use it once.

Mike Kirby

Mike Kirby. Mike Kirby works just like Crash Kirby. Kirby gets some headphones and a microphone and he starts singing, thus wiping out all the enemies on screen. Except that you can use this ability 3 times. Also, Kirby's singing is terrible. Maybe that's why he wears the headphones, otherwise he'd kill himself too.

Ninja Kirby

Ninja Kirby. Kirby obtains the power of the legendary Ninja warriors and becomes Ninja Kirby. Ninja Kirby has plenty of Ninja techniques, like throwing stars, ninja sword, he can cling to walls, and he can walk on water. That is pretty cool, and I think there's also some moves I'm missing.

Master Kirby

Master Kirby. What happens when Kirby wields Meta Knight's sword Galaxia? Kirby turns into Master Kirby! Kirby uses the power of Meta Knight's sword to destroy anything in his way. There are these blocks in the game that can only be destroyed if you have the Hammer or Stone Kirby ability, but not with Master Kirby. Not only that, but you can defeat enemies quicker. Even bosses.

Whip Kirby

Whip Kirby, or Cowboy Kirby, or how I like to call him, Indiana Jones Kirby. It's basically Kirby with a whip. But the whip is incredibly useful for grabbing objects out of reach, and to lash out at enemies. You just can't resist humming the Indiana Jones theme when you use this ability.

Sword Kirby

Sword Kirby might just be my most favorite ability. If it wasn't for the next choice. It's one of the first abilities you get in Kirby's Adventure. It's just a basic ability in which grants Kirby a sword to attack his opponents. But I bet this ability become more famous in Kirby Superstar, which introduced hats for Kirby's abilities. With the Sword Kirby ability, Kirby gets a hat that looks like Link's hat. That is what sold me on Sword Kirby. But over the years, Kirby has learned more moves and you can even combine other abilities with it in Squeak Squad and give the sword an elemental effect to it, and thus Sword Kirby has become more versatile.

Kirby

Smash Kirby is without a doubt my favorite of Kirby's abilities. It is basically Kirby, with all his special moves from Super Smash Bros. (Melee). You earn this by and I'm not kidding, by defeating Master Hand and eating him. I'm serious. It might just be Kirby's most versatile ability. Kirby can turn into Stone Kirby, which would normally require a separate ability, Kirby can use a hammer, which would needed a separate ability, and Kirby can use the Final Cutter, which again would need a different ability. I'm not saying this is the best ability, but it's my most favorite.

And that's it. I had to cut out some since this was already pretty long. Also excluded Kirby 64 abilities because the images seemed too small. There's dozens, probably hundreds of abilities now. Well, that's about it, sorry for the wonky image sizes. So, what are your favorite Kirby Copy Abilities/Forms? Thanks for reading and Happy 23rd Kirby.

Those are some good choices.  Here are some of mine.

I like it in Kirby Super Star when you have a Wheelie helper.  You can jump on him and Kirby dons a helmet and you can ride on Wheelie like a motorcycle and Kirby even gets to shoot stars.  It makes the escape from the Halberd even more epic!

Speaking of Kirby Super Star, my brother's favorite abilitiy is the Yo-Yo.  He ALWAYS had to be the Yo-Yo guy when we played.

In Kirby 64, I liked combining electric and ice because it turned Kirby into a fridge and he would shoot food.  Also, electric and fire was fun because Kirby would rub his head to generate static electricity, but he would rub too hard and would set his head on fire!  Also, Cutter and Rock let you sculpt Kirby into walking statues of his animal friends.

There are so many great abilities that it is really hard to choose!  That's why Kirby is Nintendo's best character!

I like Mike Kirby because I used it in Kirby's Dream Land. It's one of those few things he doesn't swallow to use. Or maybe he swallows it but it pops right out again and he screams into it.
