My favorite nostalgic memories are often the ones that are somewhat hazy to me. So while I remember Super Mario World and Yoshi's Island, I'd have to say Yoshi's Story on N64 is my favorite memory. I still kind of consider Yoshi's Island a Mario game since it was called Super Mario World 2 and had Mario in it, albeit as a baby.
Today is Yoshi Day!!!

On August 5, 1995, Yoshi's Island was released for the Super NES. This was the first real Yoshi game (all of those puzzle ones don't count). This game seemed to break all the rules for Mario platformers, but that's okay. After all, it wasn't a Mario game, it was a Yoshi game. Creative level design and awesome egg-throwing gameplay made the game an instant classic, so good, in fact, that it hasn't been trumped by any of its sequels.
Let's celebrate this momentous day! What is your most nostalgic moment with Yoshi in general or in a Yoshi game? Let's hear about it. Yoshi should get some love on his 20th anniversary of his best game. Dino Power!
