Sometimes I play as boy characters (like in Animal Crossing) and sometimes I play as girl characters (like Streets of Rage). But I don't really have any reasons why. I just don't think about stuff like that very hard. And I don't play online games enough for people to give me any grief about anything. I guess I just don't think about stuff like that very much when playing games.

Okay, I'm a guy who often plays female characters in video games. Recently, while playing Guild Wars 2 someone got up me for it. When they found out I was a guy, they tried to shame me, and got really offended that I was "trying to trick them."
Firstly: I don't want to fuck you, so I don't think I'm trying to trick anyone. Secondly, if you're going to Guild Wars 2 to try and get laid, maybe you're the one with problems.
It was a weird experience, and even weirder when you consider that close to a quarter of men tend to play the opposite gender to begin with.
So that leads us to todays questions: 1. Do you play characters of the opposite gender, and if so, why?
2. If you do, have you had any experiences like mine? How did you React to them?
3. What do you think of people who play as the opposite gender in general?
