As some may know that when THQ shut down that Koch Media/Deep Silver bought the rights to Volition which included Saints Row series. I at first thought all my series were dead but KM plans to release a SR4. I wont lie, Im not too thrilled. SR3 was a good game to play and to have a crazy time with but I at the same time lost a lil bit of my fan faith to the series itself.

Before I delve into my loss of faith Ill share what is known of SR4 first. The storyline has pretty much been released and while it is over the top, I kind of feel its just gotten pretty stupid. here is the press release of the story

"In the next open-world installment of Saints Row, Deep Silver Volition continues the story of the Third Street Saints by elevating their status to the highest level - the leaders of the free world. In Saints Row IV, the head honcho of the Saints has been elected to the Presidency of the United States. But the Saints are just getting started. Now the larger-than-life insanity of the Saints series gets a new twist with a catastrophic alien invasion, and the aliens have transported the Saints to a bizarro-Steelport simulation. Wield gargantuan superpowers and fight to free humanity from alien granddaddy Zinyak's mental grasp. Escape the simulation that's trapped the Saints crew, or die trying.
Saints Row IV lets players delve into an arsenal of alien weaponry and technology that will turn each Saint into an ultimate entity of destruction. Utilize out-of-this-world superpowers to fight all the way to the top. With intensified action and enhanced customization, players can use their newfound superpowers and leap over buildings, outrun the fastest sports cars, or send enemies flying with telekinesis in the greatest, most insane installment of Saints Row yet.
Save the world, Saints Style.

I dont know about anyone else but I read that and the "WTF did I just read" sign shot up in my head. The leader is now the president? what? It just really is coming off to be dumb and while I get SR series has tryed to have this wacky out there antics type of game style I think they need to re think the storyline for number 4. Thats how I atleast feel at the moment, maybe Im still just a lil pissed off with SR3.

IM WARNING, SPOILERS!

In SR3, they killed off one of my fave characters. They committed a grevious crime in killing off Johnny Gat. Characters can make and break a series for some people and this is one of those moments in a way for me. Not only did they do that but they killed him off camera. If you were gonna kill him off our eye's should have seen it. That just really struck a nerve with me that they choose him to be killed off. They should have taken Shaundi DAMMIT!!!!! I would have been just fine with her getting killed. Hell I wanted to put a bullet through her head a few times when I played through SR3. I kind have a small inch of hope that in SR4 they will bring him back but at the same time I have my doubts.

Oh man.... that sounds absolutely retarded lol. I think it could work given the nature of this series. They should draw the line somewhere though.

While yes, they can prolly pull it off okay, I jsut think they are really crossig a line on how out there it can be. Im gonna keep an eye on it and see how it does before I make my final call on it.

I haven't played Saints Row, but as far as I'm concerned, make the story as dumb as possible as long as the gameplay is fun; and honestly, alien invasions and superpowers are things I like in a game.

I can see how turning the stupid factor up to 11 can be a turnoff, but in my case, as long as it's funny and enjoyable, I'll accept any crazy story. Of course, I have to actually play one before making that judgment, so I'll reserve judgment on the execution of that dumb storyline.

I can see a lil bit why they are trying to do the super powers thing because when they did it in SR3 for a DLC mission they took the powers back after you completed the mission set and that pissed a lot of fans off. I jsut feel that there really crossing a line with the story but Ill give it more time before I fully say nah or yay to it.

Im okay with dumb and cheesy storylines but this jsut to me kind of goes a bit far out there.
