Games Beaten

-Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney — Dual Destinies (3DS)

Phoenix Wright was one of my favorite series on DS and Dual Destinies is a great follow up. The technical improvements are impressive—I especially loved the catchy music!—but the stories are the real stars here. The twists and turns just kept coming and the whole story arc came to a nice conclusion. It made good use of the series's stable of characters too. Fantastic experience overall. I hope Capcom localizes the next one too.

Games Bought

August purchases started off with a bang. I nabbed Bloodborne (PS4) for about $18 from a GameFly flash sale, which is about half of what you'll find it anywhere else. I hope I get around to playing that this year because...well...it's so unusual for me to actually play something in the year it releases lol. After that I picked up a couple titles from a PSN sale: Child of Light (PS4) and The Misadventures of Tron Bonne (PS1). The former has been on my mental watchlist since it came out and the latter, well, is the only Mega Man Legends-ish game that is playable on modern systems. Gotta take what I can get right? And it's supposedly a lot of fun too.

Someone pointed out that the Despicable Me minions are basically servbots and I think they're probably right.

That just leaves PS+. Sound Shapes (PS4/PS3/Vita) and CastleStorm Complete Edition (PS3/Vita) both really interest me. I'm cooler on Stealth Inc 2: A Game of Clones (PS4/PS3/Vita) because I still haven't played the first game and God of War: Ascension (PS3) because I haven't playe any of the games in that series yet (despite owning all of them except GoW3) and Ascension is widely considered the weakest of the bunch.

Now Playing

-Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris (PS4)

The astute observer will notice that this is actually another PS+ game from August but we bought it earlier in the year and actually started playing it right before they announced the August line up. What can you do, am I right? This co-op puzzle platformer shooter is a lot of fun though and my wife and I have been slowly working our way through it. We're near the end too, I think.

-Theatrhythm Final Fantasy: Curtain Call (3DS)

Finally starting playing this and it's tons of fun. The music is so good and there is so much content! The art style still looks weird though.

-Geometry Wars 3: Dimensions Evolved (Vita) (PS+)

I'm stuck on the Emerald Boss of the Adventure Mode. I've gotten really close a few times but still haven't beaten him. I'm not a big fan of the 3D arenas in this game (like the sphere for the Emerald Boss) but it's hard to complain too much since it still includes all the classic modes too.

I bought Child of Light (360) a while back and I still hadn't played it.  It was on sale and I remember reading good things about the game.  I have so many games to get to.

I know what you mean O_O I always miss Xbox sales now because I'm almost never on there anymore...not that I need more games lol.

I've had about enough time during the week to log a few hours playing Pokemon Shuffle. That's about it. I think I might cancel my Netflix now, because I can't find time for that either. Weekends though, I get a bunch of console gaming done. I think I have that Lara Croft game somewhere in my digital archives. I want to get to that.

Time, that is the real dilemma! You should definitely play Lara Croft with your gaming buddy though. It's a fun little game!

I think that'll be a tough sell with him, unless he got it free when I did. I'm not sure.

Shouldn't be a problem as long as you have it. Playingg local co-op works really well.

I was looking at Tron Bonne myself.

I would really like to buy Theatrhythm but I'm always hesitant to spend the money on 3DS games since I'm so spoiled by iOS prices.

Theatrhythm is available on iOS too but if I remember correctly, you'd actually spend more on that version to buy everything because of how the piecemeal pricing structure works.

I love the Phoenix Wright games.  Did you try the DLC case in Dual Destinies?  It's worth it.  I hope Capcom localizes the next TWO Phoenix Wright games.  They just came out with Phoenix Wirght X Sherlock Holmes, and they just announced Phoenix Wright 6!

Child of Light was a great RPG.  I named it my RPG of the Year last year.

Oh I love The Misadventures of Tron Bonne!  Still have it on disc!  I named that my Game of the Year in whatever year it came out, and there were some great games that year.  Tron Bonne and the Servebots are some of the best characters Capcom ever created.  I think the only reason why Minions are so popular is because they imitate the Servebots (it was probably me that pointed the Servebot Minion thing out to you)!  I'm so sad they never made Mega Man Legends 3.  I was looking foward to more Tron and Servebots.

I'm playing a Lara Croft game, too.  It's called Lara Croft Go on iPad and it's actually pretty fun.  It's like a cross between the other Lara Croft game, and isometric puzzlers like Captain Toad.  Hey that gives me an idea!  Lara Croft and Captain Toad should team up and be in a game together!  Yeah, I guess it's probaby good that I don't make games, huh?

I love Theatrhythm Curtain Call.  It almost has TOO many songs!

Hey, if you haven't done so already, I'd like to encourage you to please read my blog and check out my articles from PAX Prime in Seattle!  I took a lot of pictures and played a lot of games!  Check it out!  --Cary

I did download the extra episode but I haven't started it yet. Soon! I took a look at your articles just now. That's a lot of cool stuff! I hope that 20XX game comes to consoles too. That's the only way I'll actually play it. I downloaded Hitman GO earlier this year but still haven't played. Definitely want to try that before springing for Lara Croft GO. I have played that Tomb Raider Relic Run game. That's pretty fun!

Bloodborne for $18?! Still $60 at every retailer I've been to. Hot damn, that was a steal!
