Can't let you do that Starfox!

Hey Pixlbit, how's it going? I'm not sure if any of you heard or not, but Starfox Zero has been delayed till Q1 2016.

                                      StarFox 0

Shigeru Miyamoto made a statement about it on Facebook. If you don't want to click on the link, the abridged version is that the game is completed. The thing is he feels that they could use/need more time to polish it some more and add a bit to discovering stuff with the dual screen feature.

Here's what I think: He must of seen the complaints people where having with the game. Some say that the game feels too barren. Some say it really doesn't feel like Starfox. And the most popular one is that the graphics aren't good. This is coming from people who have tried it at events and game conventions. While I know that it's ultimately up to the player (i.e. you) to decide for themselves about how they feel about the game, Miyamoto and Nintendo probably did take note or they felt that they could use more time to polish it a bit.

While I'm in favor of a game getting delayed so that we get a better product in return, as I have mentioned it for Zelda Wii U, I found a problem and I'm sure many of you have as well. Nintendo may just have lost/delayed what was possibly their biggest and probably most important holiday title. Now that Starfox Zero is out of the question, let's look at what other Wii U games you have as an alternative for the holiday season. You have Animal Crossing: Amiibo Festival, which is a Mario Party game that is useless if you don't have the amiibo figures. That and fans have been pretty vocal on how they feel about it. There's Xenoblade Chronicles X which comes out in December. And lastly, there's Mario Tennis which still has a tentative holiday release date. Are any of these games system sellers? If you don't have the amiibo figures, then the game is useless. Unless Nintendo plans to keep them stocked but I have better chances of winning the lottery than Nintendo keeping them constantly stocked. XCX as good as it looks (and I'm really hyped for it), is no doubt a niche game. And Mario Tennis. While the Mario Sport Games are fun, I highly doubt see people buying a Wii U to play Mario Tennis.

I don't know if Starfox would have been a system seller, I know it was in the past, but anything could of happened here if it never got delayed. Maybe this has something to do with Nintendo of Japan's new president. Or the comments people have made about it. We may never know.

There's this saying Miyamoto has: "A delayed game is eventually good, a rushed game is forever bad." That comment kinda doesn't hold ground anymore. DNF proved that and other games as well. I'm in favor of a delayed game so we don't get a glitchtastic bugfest, or a better game in the end that feels complete. This game has been in development for almost 10 years and has shifted different consoles. Maybe we'll get a Nintendo Direct soon, like new footage or new announcements. I hope the wait is worth it.

So, what do you think of Starfox Zero's delay? Good? Bad? Both? None? Or maybe I'm just overthinking? Thanks for reading and later.

I'm bummed that Star Fox has been delayed as it's a series I've always been fond of, but I think the delay was smart. I honestly don't see the title as a system mover. There's not a lot of fan fare around Star Fox outside of their already dedicated fanbase.

I think they were ultimately making more headroom for Super Mario Maker, Triforce Heroes, and Xenoblade. I'm sure they'll polish up Star Fox a bit more with the extra time and ultimately cover a gap in the release schedule early next year. Super Mario Maker will likely be their anchor title for the holidays and rightfully so. It's a really strong title that has universal appeal.

Yeah, the series got me to buy an N64, but it's been Sonic'd a few too many times to have the appeal it once did. I agree it could benefit from some polish.

Yeah, Starfox hasn't been a fortunate series after 64. Hopefully this is the one to break that losing streak.

Truth be told, I really liked Star Fox Adventures at the time, even though it's just an adventure game with Star Fox stuff as an afterthought. Also liked Assault when it was in the plane. I don't understand the need for these series to cram other crap in there. I just want on-rails shooting and Sonic platformer levels, respectively.

Same, I liked both Adventures and Assault. I liked the ability to explore in Adventures. Loved Assault, I really loved the mp mode.

I know what you mean about that. I get that they're trying to add something to an established formula to keep a game fresh, but it ends up hurting the whole game. Sonic has been a series really unfortunate of this after Heroes.

Yeah, I'm in favor of them delaying the game so it can have the quality we expect from Nintendo. Like I said, it was their core holiday title, but as you said, Mario, XCX, and Zelda will most likely fill that gap.

I'm fine with it. Got other games to play.

I'm okay with it too, and ditto on that last part.

I'm disappointed, but like Nick and Joaquim, I'm pretty ok with it.  I can wait, and there's SO many games coming out this fall.  I still need to get Smash and Mario Maker!

I would be lying if I said I wasn't disappointed, but I'm okay with it as long as it doesn't have any bugs and glitches.

I'm OK with it.  I'm not the biggest fan of Star Fox anyway, although I'm still going to give this game a try when it does come out.  I'm only worried that Nintendo won't have as strong of a holiday lineup.  Personally, I think the game is ready, they just want to tweak it for optimum peak Amiibo support.

Yeah, that is the only issue I see with the holiday lineup. And I wouldn't be surprised for the  amiibo support.

Many important titles are being delayed and though it is quite odd, but really, i'm like everyone here:

Besides, atleast Nintendo isn't really ruining their consumers trust with this delay unlike Mighty Number 9 and Super Mario Maker may do wonders on the holiday season thanks to the hype.

Yeah I'm okay with it, it's their holiday lineup that worries me. But like Nick said, Mario Maker will most likely fill that void.

I was planning on getting it when it launched, so this was sad news. Still, I want it to be the best game possible and I have plenty to play till then. Also, you forgot to mention Yoshi's Woolly World. I was on the fence about that but I think I'll be getting that now in lieu of Star Fox this fall.

It bummed me out, but I want the game to good.

I had a feeling I forgot something, thanks for pointing it out.
