Torment

Those bastards at inxile have done it.  They are not really bastards, I am just supremely annoyed at the moment.

See, I told myself that I did not need to pledge anything to Torment:  Tides of Numenera.  In fact I did not really want to pledge anything to the game.  How am I supposed to know the quality of this game?  If wasteland 2 had come out and it was as amazing as I am hoping, I would glady give inxile my money.  The only problem is that they are doing business in a way that makes the most sense for them, and i cannot blame them for that.

So, why am I annoyed at inxile?  Well, they officially gave me a reason to give them my money.  A reason good enough to pledge money without seeing how good wasteland 2 actually is.  They brought in one of the greatest authors around.  That tall bearded fellow from stevens point, WI, Patrick Rothfuss.

Those bastards, I mean that in the kindest possible way.

I don't actually know who that is, but I've been writing a bunch of goodreads reviews today, so I may as well look him up.

I'm glad you're excited, though, and that the author is from Wisconsin, where much of my family still lives. lol

I did not know who he was until mid 2012.  He is working on the third book in his kingkiller chronicles.  I finished the first book, the name of the wind, a couple of months ago.  It was amazing.

I'm pretty sure you're backing everything I do ;)  I got on this bandwagon day one to pick up the soundtrack and novella's (I was a huge fan of the original Torment).  I've also jumped on the Wasteland 2 (have a physical box of that one coming to me) and Shadowrun (one of my first gaming loves).

I also backed project eternity and the banner saga.

Didn't back Eternity, but I did back the Banner Sega.

I'm still a bit hesitant to give money to anyone through Kick-starter. It's not that I don't believe most developers & creators have good intentions, it's just this is a recession and inflation is high. Aka, it's more risky to make a leap of faith. If I had more money I'd gladly donate to some of these projects though. Both Wasteland and Shadowrun look spectacular so far.

it is a gamble.  There is no guarantee that what they put out will be a quality game.

Sometimes it could be worth the risk. If it's a developer you know and trust. Someone with a vision and integrity.
