Pixlpeeps what is up! Happy Monday to you good people. Over the weekend I finally fired up my PS4. I think the last time I did that was a couple of weeks ago. I’ve been in a PS3 mood with college football in full swing and I started a new Dynasty Mode with a created team, The Long Beach State 49ers.

The home uniforms are usually black helmet/black jersey/white pants, while the road uniform is white helmet/white jersey/white pants. At times I will go with black helmet and black pants on the road, and black pants at home. In the first season the 49ers went 11-2 as an independent and winning the Little Caesar’s Bowl in Detroit. In the second season I moved the 49ers to the Mountain West Conference after moving Boise St. and San Diego State along with BYU to the American Athletic Conference (I can’t play against my school).

As for the PS4 I fired it up so I could play Lego Dimensions. Yep I caved in and on Sunday Morning I bought the game. The funny thing is that you can either use the game’s digital instructions to build the base, or use the regular packaged instructions. After spending a half hour downloading the update (I decided to use the book instructions during this time) I played a bit of the game. It turns out to be a bigger version of your typical Lego games and I finished the first level. After that I tried the Portal and Simpsons Level Packs. I really did play a lot of them because I was heading out but from what I saw I’ll enjoy these level packs.

There is more involvement with figures on the base than there is with Disney Infinity. To perform the master builder items you move your figure on one side of the base to the other. To build vehicles you have to be in their given level, find the parts and then assemble it with on screen instructions. After that you save the item onto the base. The little set on top doesn't make a difference but its nice to have an idea of what the vehicle I'm using looks like. I had some problems with the Portal gun attaching to the minifigure. I thought it would be a plastic piece but it turns out to be rubber. As for the game certain points within the game needs special characters which means you have to buy more packs to unlock those sections. I'm not complaing because I knew this coming in.

If you are a fan of the Lego franchise and like either Infinity or Skylanders, this game is for you. Just be prepared that since its Lego, the packs are a bit pricey but the figures and sets can be removed from their bases and be used with regular Lego Sets. Oh and the Portal set is really funny especially since you're playing a Lego version of a video game, within a video game.

For tablet gaming I played a little bit on the iPad but most of my attention was on the Asus Memo Pad. I got my Memo Pad 8 on Thursday and I spent most of Thursday night and Friday tinkering with the tablet. I thought about rooting it but decided against it because I don’t want to deal with all the hassles that come along with it. I might do it in the future. Anyways here is my current setup

Here is my one screen that I am using. I didn’t install any social media apps because this tablet is just for games, books, maybe a couple of videos, and comics. I have to keep the Google Search bar on the screen or else I have this message about tap to add widgets change wallpapers, etc. I’m not liking the Asus skin on Android but what can you do (I guess the rooting community would chime in with root)

The folder with Google, and Asus apps. Ok so I might have installed Taptalk just to check up on various sports message boards.

This is my games folder, and some of the games I have currently installed. Nothing fancy here. I’ll add more games later on, but for now I’ll just play with these games.

I started with Fieldrunners HD which is a Tower Defense game and a genre that really isn’t my favorite, but I actually liked this game. I don’t know if its like every Tower Defense game but I played a couple of games and I had fun

Apparently I should read the instructions because I had no idea I could upgrade the towers

This was my setup during an early part of a game. I might play more of this during lunch.

Another Humble Bundle Game I played is Galcon Legends. I don’t know how to describe this game. You start off with one planet with a number of fighters, and you send your fighters to a planet with a lesser number of fighters. You assimilate them and they become part of your army and you go after another planet. Rinse. Repeat.

These little triangles move to the planet and you take them over. The enemy is trying to do the same so basically whoever gets all the planets on the screen first wins.

After finishing off a galaxy, you fly into a wormhole and play in a different galaxy with funky story screens

I'm currently playing through the game on the default difficulty. After each stage the game asks you if you want to play it on a harder mode. I'll probably give it a try once I finish the first playthrough.

The last couple of games I am playing on my Asus Memo Pad are poker games. One game is being played with other players so the betting is off because the folks with the bigger chip stacks try and bully the pot. Another game I’ve been playing is a single player game where your little character can play in poker tournaments in the Wild West

I won my first tournament! I then followed that win by losing the next one.

I registered for this game. Hopefully its good.

Oh and I found the screenshot of what the screen looks like if you don’t have anything on the screen

I don’t get why you can’t have a blank screen. iPad finally allowed it and I think my Nexus 7 could do it but c’mon Memo Pad.

Alright Pixlbit I should get my day going. I’m hungry and its time to make breakfast. Have a good week!

That’s all for now, more later!

-Chris

Hadn't been paying to college football. Looked up SFA's record this season. Now I know why. First Gus doesn't make the Cowboys, now this. Not to mention the injuries for Cowboys themselves. Hoping the game tonight goes Green Bay's way; it should since they're in Lambeau.

Half an hour to dl something sounds amazing after dling a Red Box rental of Elder Scrolls Online along with update file and now re-downloading The Crew  demo has led to yet more downloading. Something about finishing the prologue, but now it's downloading the application. Makes me want a Retron 5.

The whole "buy the figures and packs to unlock the full experience!" is another thing I'm not loving about these new consoles. Sucks cause the Simpsons LEGO thing sounds amazing and I might just cave myself if the price is right.

Let me know how Need for Speed turns out.

I haven't really been paying attention to football this season with the exception of the Eagles vs Cowboys. That was the first game I sat down and watched. Everything else has been bits and pieces. Its odd, I'm usually trying to watching as much as possible.

I get why we need those patches but damn they take so long. I wish I was able to download the patch before buying the game so if I'm on the fence about it I can download when I am out, get home pop in the disc and I'm good to go. I like those Retron consoles but I don't know if I'm ok with spending the $100 to get one.

Yeah the hidden micortransactions are not a good trend. I followed it with Disney Infinity and now with Lego Dimensions. At least with Lego if/when I get tired of this game I can add these figures and little sets to the Lego collection.

I'm hoping NFS will be good. The last NFS game I played on tablets were a lot of fun and my XP transfered over to the handheld and console games.

I've only watched Cowboys/Packers games unless it's a night game, and even then I just have it on. I honestly considered not watching at all cause of all the things I don't like about the NFL as an organization, but since it's the Golden Year I think that boycott will wait at least a year.

I guess that's why they offer to pre-download if you pre-order.

That is cool regarding Lego figures being usable as actual Legos.

I have NFS on Steam, but it's 4:3, doesn't run well and I have to sign in like some kind of criminal (bought it on sale) to access it. It's made me avoid EA titles on Steam, cause the same sign in nonsense applies to Alice: Madness Returns.

I usually watch as much football as I can (I'm one of those folks who have a game going on the laptop, tablet, and TV at the same time) but this year I haven't been into football.

Its a shame that the pre download isn't available if you purchase the physical copy of the game.

I do like that I can have those figures in my Lego collection. All the info is in the little discs and each character's disc has their own special graphics. At one point I might just place a brick on top of each disc.

So far the current freemium NFS was available to download early on Android but it runs like crap so I'll wait for the iOS release.

Oh Android/iOS? Thought you were doing this on console. I see.

I had the beta for the console version, but I was busy roaming around town and missed out on trying the console version.

you can make your own uniforms?  I remember when you could do that in Madden and 2K.  Goddammit, stupid monopoly.

Like Joe, I'm not really into the buy figures and unlock stuff type of gameplay. But I wish you could play that game without figures cause the licenses are great.  I mean, Gollem in a mech?  Jeez.

Yep, I want to say NCAA 10 was the first game that offered it. It was a service online where you could upload your own logos (two max) and they could be placed on the uniform and helmet. There were like 40 different options each for jerseys, neck designs, pants, and helmet stripes. It is a cool feature that should be used with the NFL but I have a feeling the NFL blocked it.

If it was a stand alone game I think it would do well. It plays like a regular Lego game but the licenses make this game.

Well the PR agency that normally sends me the LEGO games isn't handling LEGO Dimensions, so I may not get to review it after all.  They sent my request to WBIE, though, so we'll see what happens.

I did pick up one of the playsets today, though.  I figured the Portal set would be hard to find, so I reserved it and picked it up today.  It was the last one they had!  I may get the Simpsons and Back to the Future playsets, and later the Ghostbusters one, but that may be it (maybe the Dr.Who one for a friend).  But it just depends how much I like the main game.  If I don't get to review it, I'll just use my birthday Best Buy gift cards to get it.

One question for you.  How much content is in one of the level packs?  Is it just one short LEGO stage or is there more to it than that?

That sucks man. Hopefully you get your hands on a copy.

I really can't say how long a level pack is because I really haven't played through an entire level (Simpsons or Portal) I know its one level, but there are items within the level that can be unlocked with characters with special abilities (the Wicked Witch from Oz unlocks silver items and Scooby Doo can dig out items) When looking at the trophies each Level pack has three trophies. Hopefully these levels are longer than the Batman 3 DLC.

I love tower defense games. I'm still mad I can't play Defense Grid 2 on last gen consoles.

And what's the deal with Marvel Puzzle Quest. It's coming to PSN this week but the Xbox version is supposed to be already out and I don't see it.

Usually I'm not a fan but I really like this game. Maybe this enthusiasm will transfer over to other games. I really want to try that game that uses 80s toys.

Oh Puzzle Quest is coming to consoles? I used to play a lot of it on the Nexus 7, but haven't touched it in a year or so. I liked it but it was one of those games where it should be played without the freemium cap that many tablet games have.

Toy Soldiers is ok. You can inhabit a tower and use it in first person view. For some reason, I never got really into it though.

I heard on Playstation's Blogcast that Marvel PQ is coming to PSN on the 30th. Metacritic says it's already on Xbox Live, but I don't see it yet. Maybe it'll appear on both on the 30th. I'm going to look for it next weekend for sure. Not sure if it's still a freemium game or not on console.

I don't think I'd ever use the FP mode if I ever tried that game.

I'll check out if Marvel is on PSN. Hopefully its for the Vita as well as the PS4/PS3.

Maybe it's third person, I forget. I just know you can jump in a turret and control it.

I haven't checked yet, but it would be cool on handheld. Maybe I'll look on 3DS tonight.
