Octoberween 2015 is dedicated to my Dad who recently passed away. This one’s for you.

I wasn’t sure if I was going to try this again this year given all that has happened these past few months. If you have read my latest “AFK” blog you’ll have seen that a lot has changed for me since I last wrote back in the spring. I will have to admit that it was hard at first trying to dust off the keyboard and see if I had it in me to actually write something. New locations, new changes, loss of loved ones. I never knew they could take a major toll on you in the most oddest of times. I thought about it long and hard about not doing this blog at all. It originally started on 1up.com but since its dormant state would it be better to just “let it die”.  Are their others who can carry the torch of Halloween goodness?

I’m sure there is, and done in a far better fashion than my own, but in the end I figured I’d probably end up regretting it if I didn’t give it a good ol’ boy try. So with that said I’m pleased to announce that I shall once again begin my 31 days of Octoberween Madness! Once more I shall try to delivery 31 blogs in 31 days in the month of October. Not only will it have my usual Top 11 Octoberween Game Titles of 2015 but also include other Octoberween themes and interests that run the gauntlet of genres. I will also include my usually write ups on specific opinionated pieces, Guilty Reading/Viewing/Listening Pleasures, Octoberween themed Game Rig Updates and Old Skool Tech series. I’ll even sprinkle in the Octoberween Video Weekend with a little more in the offerings of videos. Some from shows that I’m sure you’ve seen already but I thought they could use a revisit for the season. Another video idea I have depends if I can get the specific video embed to work. That one we will have to see. I’ll even “revisit” some older blog postings if only to give them another chance. Plus there is a good chance I could run out of time on certain days. (I just got a job!) I failed last year and I shall not fail again!

And like prior lists before it, I will continue the tradition of trying to pick out my Top 11 Octoberween Game Titles for those looking to game under budget or possibly be enlightened on lesser known games that may have slipped under the radar. So you won’t find any of the latest batch of survival horror titles or scary type games on this list but instead games from yesteryear or games that deserve a second chance to be in the spotlight. If only to be remembered before they are cast aside like a last gen gaming console. It’s during these 31 Days of Octoberween that gives these games their time to shine! This year’s theme will share a dual purpose. Besides having a specific motif to the month it’ll also pay tribute to a specific game series that I believe deserves its moment in the limelight. I’ll leave it up to you dear readers on what the tribute is to which specific game series. I’ll be sure to sprinkle in many clues as to what exact game series that warrants such an honor at this time. Let’s see how long it takes you to figure it out. So as you ponder that little mystery, here is this year’s game theme for Octoberween 2015:

“Digital Only”

My top 11 will only consist of games I got digitally from the gaming industries respective console online services. Though most of these games are only available as digital download, there will be some games here that can be found physically to some degree (Thus why the theme isn’t “Digital Download Only”). The choice of this year’s theme was mostly decided out of necessity given my current living situation. I no longer have the room to house all my disc based games out in the open, so they are all boxed away, making it rather difficult to find a game to play without making a mess. It’s possible but I’d rather spend the time playing a game than trying to find one. And given this situation also applies to my books and movies I had to pick the lesser of two evils. I’m more of a physical media gamer than digital but I will admit it does have its conveniences.

So with that said it’s time to turn down the lights, gather around the glow of the PC monitor and see what unholy ideas come to my mind these next 31 days of Octoberween. I do hope you are able to tag along for the fun. So lettuce begin with the words from my previous psychiatrist before his abrupt retirement – “It’s for your own good my boy so don’t fight it and let it take you in…..”

I plan on posting a few spooky reviews thsi month at GamerDad.com, but that's about it.  Might get the Wii U Fatal Frame game, too.  It's supposedly coming out this month.

ooo, I saw that. I'm very tempted to preorder Fatal Frame. I've never played the series though.

I will not sleep well tonight now that my counting of sheep will include multi-headed monstrosities like in that video. Thanks!Tongue Out

But YEAH! I'll be following. I love October. It's my birth month, but I also love the weather and the craziness of Halloween. I was just thinking the other night that I should take off October from work to return to my homeland. Then I thought, I was born here, so where would my October homeland be? Then it came to me. Halloween land. Transylvania! Yea, I gotta go there every October, find an old castle, and brood all goth style. Yeah!

I'm also following Angry Video Game Nerd's Monster Madness this year again. Check it out. A monster movie video review a day all October. So fun!

I always like this event. I look forward to your following blogs and the next Top 11 (even if I haven't quite forgotten that you let unfinished last years Top 11). As for me, I just hope I can blog something related to the season.
