Playing Destiny

I like it more than Halo.

Yep. Preparing for my ineveitable crucifiction. The fact remains I've only like one Halo game enough to finish, and that's Reach. Destiny has awesome gunplay that is fast and frantic, the guns don't fee like plastic toys, and I dig the art direction a bit more.

Plus, I found Halo incredibly repetitive. This is the same, but there's loot and progression.

A lot of people hate on this game because they expected something else. I expected an MMO. I got an MMO. And it's a pretty fucking sweet MMO at that. Bungie needs to stop kidding themselves, because they've made a better mmo than they have shooter, and so far, I'm enjoying the shit out of it.

That said, I did hear the taken king fixed a lot.

I've been mostly off the Halo bandwaggon since Halo 4 pissed me off. I'd follow Bungie into Destiny but the MMO thing is not my bag. . .yet.

I'm off Halo too.  Wasn't hard to kick.

I'm curious about this game but don't have the time. And I'm kind of done with FPS for the moment.

I really only liked Halo when I played couch multiplayer with friends. Mostly I liked Halo 2. Granted, I can't make a fair assessment about the single player campaign cause I've only ever played a few minutes of one myself. I mainly remember Halo as the game we (at-the-time) Gamecube fanboys would concede was the "only good game on Xbox" near launch. Probably wasn't true, but hell if I could tell you.

As for Destiny, I tried the demo and loved the world and music, but couldn't get into the repetitiveness of its MMO nature. I actually like the free shit I've played on Warframe more, and that game is free (to play ... obviously I'm sure I'll get thrown behind a paywall at some point). Also rented ESO and could see why it would be addictive, but wouldn't be willing to spend high $$$ to get something that looked so meh. Also, it got repetitive as well and a lot of the missions I completed felt like going through the motions, where Destiny had challenged me a bit more.

So FPS and MMO are both appealing to me on some level, but neither are really my thing.

So wait, have you not played the Taken King yet? It adds so much new awesome content and the changes are pretty much all for the better, I think. What are you playing it on?

I've got the taken king but I'm not up to that content yet. I'm playing on ps4

Give it six months, I'm sure you'll be talking about how Destiny isn't that good and Halo is admittedly the better game.

Well if I'm playing and enjoying it for 6 months it's better than most games.

I played the beta and thought it was ok which is odd for me since I don't normally like FPSs or MMOs. The only Halo I ever bought for myself was Halo 2. I preordered it because of all the hype and got the LE. Played as far as the Arbiter level and then just shut it down out of boredom. My son later played the first one and then all the others up to Reach. He later on told me that he only played those games and COD because his friends were doing it. He said it was like playing the same game over and over again.

That's fair enough. That's how a lot of MMOs are too though. They're like facebook games with more substance. You log on play something with your guildmates and leave. But with shooters, they're popular even among non gamers. It's "cool" to play CoD or Halo so it can be a good way to share something with non gamers I guess.

Bitter addict here.lol Taken King did fix a lot and the new subclasses are a blast. I have been playing since day one. My only beef is the price vs amount and quality of content. I know there is no subscription but I feel like they are really drawing this out and stretching the game thin. Other than that I can't complain, it is fun and addictive as hell.

I never really thought of this game as an MMO, but you are right. That could also be the reason why I never got into the game after playing the beta and playing the full game for a week.

MMO's definitely aren't for everyone, which is why Bungie should have been a bit more honest with their marketing. I enjoy it though.
