Yet another reminder of why I prefer console gaming, lol.
I want to play Last Remnant, guess I'll add it to the Amazon wish list and keep an eye out for it at Game Box.

A week or so ago I almost broke my 3DS after getting party wiped multiple times in Soul Hackers. I was sure WTF was up with the difficulty spike until I was checking the settings and somehow I'd turned on the Difficulty hack and set it to UP. LOL Advice: That is not recommended.
After that I was able to get through the auto plant without much of a problem. I still can't complete the 3rd floor which involves running over pitfalls to get to chests because I have no idea how to change directions while running without pausing and falling through the floor. Not a show stopper, I'm just missing some loot.
Snee reminded me that I have The Last Remnant on Steam so I suffered the 9.3 GB download and started again for the third time. Not a biggie because the other couple of times I only played through the intro sequence and stopped. It didn't run well on my older laptops but runs fine on my HP Probook 655 with it's 16 GB of RAM and Radeon HD 8650 which has 3/4 of a Gig of dedicated RAM plus is able to use close to 4 GB of the systems RAM.
I was having problems with using my external 21" monitor with the game. It kept locking up at random times and finally stopped loading after the title screen. Turns out it was the TargusUSB 3.0 Displaylink dock I was using. I took it out of the equation and started playing with everything plugged directly into the HP laptop and no more freeze ups. :)
It is taking me some time to get used to the battle system but I'm kind of liking it so far. I'm still learning new things at the moment and I'm sure battles are going to get a lot more complex.
I need to play some more Grandia II soon. I took a short break but I want to go back and finish.
Glad you got the screen problem fixed. I do love tinkering when it comes to problems like that, except when I'm gaming because I just want to plan the game and not have any worries.
I do hate when you kick the difficulty up without noticing. That has happened a couple of times and its frustrating until you figure it out, and then you just want to laugh...or throw a controller.
Yeah Chris, my New 3DS almost met the wall until I accidentally touched the touch screen and brought up the hacks menu. The hacks can be kind of useful in this game because it is damn hard without them. Turning the difficulty up in an SMT game is pretty much suicide though.
Yeah, being an IT guy I automatically strip things down to remove any of the problem parts and try it again. The problem is that in this case I had the USB 3.0 Hard Drive, keyboard, mouse, 360 controller and video all running through the docking station so in removing the dock I also changed the way everything else was connected giving me absolutely no clue as to the root cause.
I should have changed one thing at a time as I teach others to do but noooooooo. Now I'm too lazy to try hooking things back up.
