Good morning Pixlbit Nation! It is currently 7:57am here in overcast Southern California. We are currently having some rain, which is always fun. Thursday was filled with thunder, lightning, some of the wet stuff, and for some odd reason it was still warm outside. I can’t wait for when the temperature drops below triple digits and hopefully stays in the 70s or what I like to call “sweater weather” (don’t laugh, I see how you folks on the East Coast freak out over 90-100 degree weather.) Currently I am sitting here waiting for 11am EST so I can try and get a pair of the Supreme Jordan V’s. There is no way I’m getting a pair especially since its limited to 1,994 pairs per model but it’ll be fun to try.

Ok it’s been 10 minutes and well the site was slow to upload the link to buy the sneakers. I had a pair in my cart twice, and right as it was processing I lost them. Oh well no big deal

These are the Jordan V’s I was trying for. I knew I wasn’t going to get them but it was fun to try. I actually wanted the white pair but I wasn’t going to be picky if I had a chance at any of the shoes.

So how have you been? I’ve been slacking a bit on my replies and reading some blogs again. I’ll try to catch up later on today because my weekend has started! I’m planning on going to the bank and maybe stopping by one of the rarely visited thrift stores just to see what’s going on and what I am missing. Let’s get started with another edition of Quick Hits with Chris

Chris Watches…

Green Batman: This past episode of Green Batman looks like is starting to setup the new Legends of Tomorrow. For the folks that read Green Arrow I’m assuming the current storyline is actually following the comic book storyline…with some Dark Knight Trilogy sprinkled in.

The WWE Network: My grandpa is getting my money’s worth out of my subscription. He’s been watching a ton of old Pay Per Views, and I caught a couple of them with him. I forgot how crazy early to mid 2000s WWF was. Tons of blood, sexual innuendo, and off the wall characters. It was also interesting to see most of the current superstars in their younger days.

WWE 24 Takeover Brooklyn: This is a show that’s on the WWE Network where they go behind the scenes of what happened during NXT Takeover Brooklyn. For you folks who are into Kayfabe (portrayal of in ring events as real) are in for a shock to see how the superstars are outside of the ring. This episode is really good because WWE follows the four top women wrestlers along with Kevin Owens and Finn Balor. The Women’s Title Match was by far the best women’s match I’ve ever seen, and one of the top matches ever. It was REALLY good. You also get glimpses of Kevin Owens’ family and how excited his son was to see his dad wrestle his favorite wrestler John Cena. If the WWE wanted to push their network on people they should show this episode of 24 on Network TV. This will get casual fans to order the network because of the NXT product alone.

MLB Playoffs: Since my Angels are out, and it is 2015 I am rooting for the Chicago Cubs because Back of the Future II said they will win. A bonus is that if this happens the Pizza Hydrator has to be made. Anyways I was rooting for the Blue Jays against the Rangers and that was a hell of a game

The final two innings were pure madness. Also how great was it to watch the Dodgers once again get bounced from the playoffs. Yep money well spent.

Chris Listens To…

Last weekend I had two separate day trips, which meant a lot of time in a car listening to podcasts. I caught up with my podcasts (17 shows) and going into this weekend I have maybe a handful of new stuff as well as an interview that Stone Cold Steve Austin had with Scott Hall.

During the week I’ve been listening to a lot of random albums in my iTunes library, looking for new stuff to add to the iPod, and rediscovering old forgotten favorites.

I read an article on Flipboard that Tunein Radio is offering the NFL in their premium subscription service. Starting in November I can get the local audio broadcasts of NFL games. The funny thing is that I like listening to football on the radio, and since my data cap has been raised to 5GB before being throttled (I only use less than 1GB of data a month) I can listen to football while roaming around the local mom and pop music store. The best part is the service is I think $7 a month. I’ll probably give it a try because I also get all the random radio stations that come with Tunein Radio.

Chris Reads…

On the Android Tablet I downloaded an app called Comic Rack, where I can put comic book files into a folder and each time the app is launched it will check the folder and add any new book to my library. It has many of the same features that the Kindle App has where I can bookmark, rate, etc. along with once I finish a book in a series, it’ll automatically load up the next book in the series.

Before I go to bed I’ll check out a random book and I read I think three books. I read The Invincible Iron Man Issue 1, the first Injustice: God’s Among Us, and I started Issue 1 of Secret Wars. I really enjoyed Injustice, and Iron Man, but I’m slowly getting into Secret Wars. I’m assuming as I get into the storyline more of it will make sense.

These are my favorite panels from Injustice that made me laugh out loud

As for the app, I’m probably going to buy the full version that has no ads. It is a solid app, but the app price of $8 is a little steep but for a quality product I guess it isn’t bad.

Chris Takes Pictures…

Do you know how hard it is to take pictures of rain at night? I tried but everything came out blurry. I did manage to capture my usual clouds picture

This was around dusk in between sprinkles. I was looking for a rainbow. Earlier that morning I snapped one while standing outside

This next picture is of some Lego minifigures

One of my friends is bringing his family to Legoland for Halloween and they do this thing where the employees will gladly trade minifigures with people. My friend isn’t into Lego so they don’t have any minifigures and I have quite a few so I am sending these little guys off. Hopefully they will bring a couple of kids excitement of being able to trade these little guys for minifigures they want.

Thanks for looking at my pictures!

Randoms

SDSU is keeping with the Aztec Calendar and the new Nike Hyper Something Something jerseys have the calendar on the backs of the home and road jerseys

I like them, and apparently the Aztecs will not have a red alternate this season because the players didn’t like them. I’m cool with that considering they are the ones who wear the jerseys. Some alums are pissed and I have no idea why.

I think it was yesterday I posted that Google Play had a bunch of Playlist: The Very Best Of… albums for free. I got the ones I didn’t have in my library and it took a bit to get them all but here they are in my iTunes Library

I think Google Play still has them available so if you don’t have them, or just want to listen to some free music, give it a try. Also if you have Google Music app on your Android device the songs will be available there once you add them to your library.

Pickups

This past weekend during my two separate day trips I somehow managed to end up at Outlet malls. One of them is set up like a normal mall but it has regular retail stores alongside outlet stores. I visited the GameStop and its your usual GameStop but this one seem to have more selection in their 4 for $20 section.

I decided to give Bioshock Infinite a try on the 360. There’s really no reason why I chose 360 over PS3. Madden 15 because I wanted to keep my Madden Streak alive and at some point when I get tired of NCAA I’ll switch to this game and pick a random team to start my NFL Franchise.

Well I bought AC Revelations again because this one has the original on the disc and I don’t own that on PS3. Starhawk because I have the single player on my PS3. I can remove that, clear up some space for other games.

This is the final game I bought separate from the 4 for $20 because the game by itself is $2, and the sale doesn't make any sense unless you buy four games that are at least $6 or more.

Another bonus is that I can unlock bonus content on the Vita version by connecting the Vita to the PS3 while this game is running. That is my main reason why I bought this game, and to keep my Madden Streak going.

The local mom & pop music store changed their policy on the $1.99 wall. It used to be Buy 5 Get 5 free but now its Buy 5 Get 3 free. I had my usual stack of 10 CDs and the employee let me know of the change but gave me the old deal anyways because everyone there is really laid back. I didn’t get anything crazy just some CDs with singles that I wanted.

Yeah I was trying to complete my Jewel collection but it turns out the CD inside of 0304 is Spirit, an album I already have. Oh well this will go on the donate pile.

Yeah that’s a Stephen Bishop CD. Its smash a guitar into a wall good. As for Savage Garden the single I Knew I Loved You is the main reason why I bought it.

Some Greatest Hits to add to the library.

iTunes told me I already own LSG so another CD going onto the donate pile. Remember when I was in a Zydeco phase? Well this CD might bring me back into it.

I think it was here in a previous entry or comment I talked about Robert Palmer. Well it was stuck in my head and when I saw these albums I picked them up.

From Barnes & Noble I picked up three albums that were in the $4.99 section (there is a lot of really good stuff here)

Sex Pistols and New York Dolls

And The Best of Joy Division.

Ok so while I took a break to mail some stuff I might have stopped at Big Lots and bought this album

I guess this week’s theme is Greatest Hits, because I seem to have found a lot of them. Oh so while roaming around Big Lots I spot this

Why Fast and Furious did you go with this brand? This is terrible, and they should have went to Lego or Mega Blocks. There was no way I was going to buy this.

While looking through the DVD/Blu-rays at Big Lots I spotted this

I really need to catch up with this series because its so funny.

My local Walmart is really stocking up on special Hot Wheels, but they don’t put them on pegs, instead they place them in the big middle of aisle bins, mixed in with regular HW cars.

I found a complete set of James Bond cars with the red Mustang being the hardest to find.

From the Lego Store I bought some pieces from the pick a brick wall

I bought three types of pieces, which all happened to be black. I have an idea of where I’m going to use some of these parts.

Before I end this latest entry did you know Monoprice has actual physical stores? On the way out of the Retail/Outlet Mall I spotted the small storefront and decided to look around for items I needed.

I picked up an HDMI to Android Tablet cable. I tried it earlier this week watching a random YouTube video from my tablet my TV. Later on I’ll download the cartoon MASK I bought from Google Play a year ago, and play it on the TV.

The cable on the right is a cable I connect my PS3 or 360 controller to an Android device. I have a couple of racing games I can use a controller on, and I know I have one or two shooters that support it. The other cable is like a mile long and it is the new charging cable for newer iDevices.

Before we end this edition I forgot to add this to Randoms. I spotted this at a game store in the mall and I thought it was hilarious

Props to the guy who owned this game and decided to make their own cover.

Alright Pixlbit I am off. Have a good weekend.

That’s all for now, more later!

-Chris

Ok so for my song of the week, its more of a scene than anything else and it relates to one of my CD pickups.

Animal House is such a funny flick.

does that "Spy Who Loved Me" car go underwater like in the movie??

we're starting to get the edge of the weather you've been having. It rained a little today but we are supposed to get a lot tonight and tomorrow.

good look on those Jordan's, man!

No, I missed out on the Hot Wheels version that was a submarine. Man I loved the Lotus Esprit, it is such a cool looking car.

Oh man, I have a crazy story about those Jordan's...

I'm going to keep this brief so that it doesn't get too uncivilized.

Fuck you, fatass, for rooting for the BlueJays and their classless jackass fans over my Rangers. I hope you die in a fire and one of them has Utley break their stupid legs.

Thank you.

But yeah, I hopped on the Cubs bandwagon after that implosion.

Soo you weren't rooting for the Blue Jays? Tongue Out  The Mets need to lay down and give this series to the Cubbies.

Honestly, I'm happiest with a Cubs World Series win, happy enough with a Mets win (screw Utley, but Jon Stewart will be happy), and I'm not sure who I'd want between the Royals and Blue Jays. Would have been Toronto until the drunken display by some of their fans in Game 5, so I'm basically rooting for the National League at this point.

I don't care for KC, and Toronto is ok, but I'm going with the NL and the Cubs. I don't like the Mets because Matt Harvey wouldn't sign with the Angels after being drafted by them.

Well, let's hope Future Day is on the Cubs side, cause neither of us picked the best choice likelihood-wise. lol

I love that cover of the Joy Division album. Black and white photos are the best especially when extremely contrasty like that.

My favorite Bond car of those pictured is the Diamons are Forever one. HOT!

I like the black and white photos too. I need to try more shots with black and white in mind.

That's a cool Mustang. I've always favored the Lotus Esprit in the Bond flicks.
