Hello everyone, I know it has been a long time since I wrote a blog. Like everyone else I am sure, I have been busy with work. I have been working 2+ hours away from where I live for which was only supposed to be temporary, but it looks like it is going to be longer than expected. Eventually I will be relocated to somewhere I can move and live full time, to tell you the truth though, I don't know if I can wait. I may start looking for a new job soon. In other news, my girlfriend and I broke up, it's been tough trying to move on. Me working out of town caused us to split, we just didn't see each other enough and it really sucks; I would never put a job before anyone in my life, the break-up came so fast that I had no time to react.
On the gaming front, here is what I have been up to since my last blog (February):
Games Beaten
Portal (PS3)
I finally played and beat Portal, a game praised by gamers and critics alike. For me, I enjoyed the game, but I didn't think it was the best thing since sliced bread like the hype would have you believe. I liked the humor and the gameplay was fun. I like the game.
The Order: 1886 (PS4)
It seems like a lot of critics were pretty hard on this game. I enjoyed it a lot, not to mention that it is gorgeous graphically. The gun-play I found fun and the story was predictable, but entertaining. I ended up getting the platinum trophy for this game, so I did enjoy enough to keep with it and do everything.
Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze (Wii U)
This game was tough. There were times I stopped playing it for a week out of frustration. The boss battles were challenging, but after multiple tries and learning the patterns, you could get through them. I would say that I liked the game. I am glad I played it and beat it.
Shovel Knight (PS4)
Shovel Knight reminds me a lot of the Mega Man games for NES in both the art style and gameplay. His attack is ripped straight from Ducktales (NES). I played and enjoyed both those games so Shovel Knight was a trip down memory lane. I though the game was OK overall, I am just not a fan of the throwback NES games I guess. I lived and played through the NES era, I don't really want to go back, lol.
Rocket League (PS4)
I platted this game, so I think that counts as beating it. I easily played this game for about a month straight it feels like. This is an awesome experience and if you haven't played it, give it a shot, you won't regret it.
Currently Playing
Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain (PS4)
This game is pretty awesome to say the least. The gameplay is the best I have every played in an open world game period. As a fan of the Metal Gear series, I wish it had a deeper story though. Some may disagree, but I didn't mind the 40 minute cutscenes of MGS4 because I like the story of any Metal Gear game more than anything. There is so much to do in this game and I always enjoy doing it because the mechanics are so awesome. Those of you who didn't play Peace Walker, this game is basically Peace Walker 2.0, everything in this game, just about, started there. I can already tell you this is my GOTY.
Destiny: The Taken King (PS4)
I bought Destiny when it first came out and if you remember my last blog of 2014, it was my biggest disappointment of the year last year. Things sure have changed. The tweaks made to the game are all the difference, so much better. I have been playing this and MGS, I predict they will occupy my time for the rest of the year.
Purchases (a lot)
Mortal Kombat: Komplete Edition (PS3), Heavy Rain: Director's Cut (PS3), Silent Hill HD Collection (PS3), Jak & Daxter HD Collection (PS3)
I have been buying quite a few PS3 games to beef up my collection before the games get harder to find. The PS3 is my favorite console to date, so many awesome games for it. I own Mortal Kombat for my PC, but I wanted it for console. Heavy Rain is a must own for any PS3 owner, I have played through a portion of it, but haven't beat it. I never owned a copy of Silent Hill 2, that's the reason I bought the Silent Hill HD Collection. And finally, I wanted the Jak & Daxter HD Collection for collection purposes.
Fallout 3 (PS3), Ninja Gaiden Sigma (PS3), Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 (PS3), Tekken Hybrid (PS3)
I ordered a copy of the Fallout 3: GOTY Edition, but a vanilla copy of Fallout 3 showed up in the mail, I was disappointed. I loved the Ninja Gaiden games on Xbox, so I bought both the PS3 versions of the games. Tekken Tag Tournament is one of my favorite games of all time, and I don't own a copy of it. I changed that by picking up Tekken Hybrid which includes a HD version of the game.
Burnout Paradise (PS3), Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection (PS3), Sonic All-Star Racing Transformed (PS3), Call of Duty: World at War (PS3), Hyrule Warriors (Wii U)
More PS3 collection purchases here, most of the PS3 games I have shown here I bought for $10 or less. I played Burnout Paradise on my PC, but I am not into PC gaming as much, so I bought it for the PS3, plus I wanted a physical copy. I bought Hyrule Warriors on sale, haven't gotten to sit down and play it yet though.
Splatoon (Wii U), Mass Effect Trilogy (PS3), Madden 15 (PS4), Dying Light (PS4)
I got Splatoon on sale, I played it for a couple hours, I didn't enjoy that much though, I am going to keep it though. I bought Mass Effect Trilogy for one reason, a physical PS3 copy of Mass Effect, lol. I like the Madden games and bought Dying Light because it looked awesome.
Super Mario All-Stars 25th Anniversary (Wii), Super Mario Maker (Wii U), Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain (PS4), Destiny: The Taken King Legendary Edition (PS4)
I am disappointed with Super Mario All-Stars for the Wii, it doesn't have Super Mario World on it?! That's so stupid! Super Mario Maker is a lot of fun and I am glad I bought it. Metal Gear Solid V is probably my game of the year and the game I have been waiting for. I gave Destiny another chance and very happy I did.
CONCLUSION
Thanks for reading, I will try to not wait so long to post my next blog. As you can see, I have been pretty busy, I check into the site as much as I can and comment as well.
