The Man With The Orange Gun

This is the GunCon 3. Made for use with the PS3 by Namco. Can't say I know a single person who owns one. And I've never used it before. Not very intimidating is it? Maybe it's the blinding orangeness of it,perhaps? I know why they made it orange,of course. So kids don't get shot by someone if they're walking down the street with it. On the way to a friend's house to play games with them. Can't be too careful these days. Things were much different when I was a kid. I had a plastic/metal M16 that looked just like the real thing. And a cap gun that looked like a real revolver. Even worked like a pistol, and loaded the same as well. I don't think 007 has much to worry about from any nemesis who is packing the GunCon 3,though. I got to thinking about this thing after buying Resident Evil:Dead Aim recently. We play it with a regular controller.but it was made for the GunCon2. So I started to investigate the matter.......

And I saw this! I saw this at Gamestop once. Looks pretty cool to me. I love playing the Time Crisis game at the movie theater. About the only place you can anymore with the demise of all arcades. We used to have several in Tulsa,by the way. Sad state of affairs, that is. Turns out that this is not the only reason for me to want a GunCon3. I also spotted this..........

Why they did not include The Umbrella Chronicles in this package is beyond me. That would have been a bundle! I'm just saying, would have really been awesome. Notice how their GunCon 3 is black? Nice! Honey badgers must have made that. Honey Badger does not care if you get yourself shot! You were probably doing something stupid with it anyhow.....you know it.

I think I will get this at some point. Looks like a shooter I might do well at. I have pretty good aim. It's my age and lack of cat-like rexlexes that gets me killed so often in Call Of Duty:Black Ops 2 multiplayer! But this I can handle. Looks more like a game I would enjoy playing with my son, too. Any of you used this before?

They describe themselves as a collective. Each member is great in their own right.

You see what I mean? Talk about a multitalented woman. Very impressive whatever she does.

I used to love Point Blank and Point Blank 2 on my PSX with the original Guncon. I could play that game for hours.

I think I missed out. I almost bought the original when Resident Evil:Survivor came out.

Nice. I looked for Resident Evil Chronicles games on PS3, but could not find it. It's download only. I still have the Time Crisis game on PS2 with gun. Can you use the guncon for the download titles? That would be great.

That I am not sure about. I have a PS2,so I think I could get a GunCon 2. Only thing I'm unsure of is the TV. Will it work with my big flat screen Sony LCD TV?

You might want to do some research before you get into all that. I think it's funny how those old light guns were always some weird color. The NES Zapper was orange, and the Konami Justifier was blue. Man... I miss playing Duck Hunt and Lethal Enforcers. What is Darkside Chronicles?

Darkside Chronicles was first released for Wii. My gun controller, that you put Wii remote into, looks just like a gun. It's black and resembles a Desert Eagle.

I remember back in the day we use to order real gun replicas i mean everything was identical to the real thing, except it couldnt really shoot, thoughs were the days, and back then there was no guns in school that was unheard of,ohh how things have changed and honestly they need bright orabge guns, after all none of us wants one of siblings or children to get shot for playing with a gun that looks real, and as far as gaming is concerned i think guns and games went out with duck hunt on nintendo, lol I just cant see playing any game this day and age with a gun you point at the screen lol.Tongue Out

Those were the days, indeed. My parents let me have a compound bow when I was 12. I had knives and swords. BB and pellet guns. They knew I only shot up bottles and cans. And bales of hay, too. I'll have to give the GunCon some thought. Only one other PS3 game supports it right now.

We had entire arsenals of realistic-looking cap guns as kids. My mom used to buy them for me, along with the caps, plus we had my uncles' hand-me-downs.

Never played a light-gun game, though.

Leeradical metioned those gun replicas you could buy. It made me think of my cousin. He built one of a Thompson sub-machine gun. It was heavy just like the real thing. They did get a bit nuts with cap guns. I remember those vividly.

I am thinking about getting the light gun for 360 to play a Cabela's hunting game soon. There are so few light gun games for 360 and PS3. 360 has just Cabela games and PS3 has Time Crisis Rizing Storm and Virtua Cop, but the Wii has a bunch that I want to play such as Dead Space Extraction, Dead Rising Chop til you Drop, and several House of the Dead and Resident Evil games. You would think with Kinect, Move, and Wii Zapper there would be much more of these types of games.

You would think so. They want people to do more action-oriented gameplay. So why not give us more of those type of shooters? I will probably get a gun like that to play Cabela's. They have so many out to choose from. That franchise has become a big deal.

I had two GunCons and all three Point Blank games on the PSOne.  I loved those games.

Still want to play the RE chronicles myself. I really dug light gun styled gameplay in the arcades. CarnEvil was beast, so was House Of The Dead!

I liked those games in the arcade. Always wished there was a way to play them at home. Too bad Uwe Boll had to screw up the movie. Could have been a horror classic.

I agree, movies and a couple local Cici's are the only places (well, I guess bowling alleys, and there's a gaming portion of a mall I think is still functional closer to downtown) to really play arcade games any more, I loved playing Time Crisis with its often out of order "hide pedal" and all as a kid. lol

I also had a cap gun or two that looked like a revolver, those things were addictive to shoot; believe it or not it was orange casings my ammo came in. I think they might just have made the GunCon look that way cause that's how they looked in the arcade, at least from my memory; there was always a blue and orange (red, maybe?) to discern P1 and P2.

Wasn't huge on "Bolt Cutter," but Dessa sounds awesome. Surprising how effective simple clapping can be behind those vocals. The blond that comes in towards the end isn't bad, either. Thanks for sharing!

The blonde is Aby Wolf, she is a friend of Dessa's and records stuff of her own. I have a few of her songs in iTunes.
