 The Finest on the NES

Hey Pixlbit, how's it going? Sorry for spamming another blog post but today's the 27th anniversary of Super Mario Bros. 3! Well of the japanese release date, it released in 1988 over there and it was released over here in 1990. But that doesn't matter.

                                           SMB3

Out of all the games in the NES library, Super Mario Bros. 3 is definitely the best. Super Mario Bros. 1 and 2 are great games, but SMB3 is definitely a huge leap compared to those 2. It's also the first game we saw Mario fly for the first time, a world map, as well as introduce us to the Koopalings as well. It's such an iconic game and probably the most iconic game at the time. To say this game was huge is an understatement.

I never played it on the NES, but I have played it as part of the Super Mario All-Stars+SMW cart. I played it back in 2003 for the first time on my cousin's SNES on a trip to Mexico. It was such a great game. Eventually my brother got the port of SMB3 on the GBA and I remember playing it alot after he was done with it. I actually have experience with the NES version via Virtual Console. It still plays very well for an NES game, but it's still a great game no matter what version you choose.

I wanna keep this short because I could go on because it's Mario. So, when did you play it for the first time and in what format? What is your favorite memory? Thanks for reading and Happy Anniversary Super Mario Bros. 3!

Definitely subjectively. Tongue Out

Nah, I appreciate it too, and it would probably make #1 on most peoples' NES top lists.

I didn't play it until I found nintendo8.com. All I can say is it was good, but I still prefer Super Mario Bros. Nostalgia glasses? Sure. But still my preference honestly. Didn't really like 2.

Loved 2.  Never got into 3.  But I feel like I should go back to it on Wii U or 3ds or something.

I was never absolutely crazy about Mario until Mario 64.  I played them, sure, but I never LOVED Mario until that game.  Ever since it's been pure enjoyment.

Believe it or not, I played Mario 3 on a PlayChoice 10 months before it came out and even before it was previewed on The Wizard.

Mario 3 is a great game, but it's not my favorite.  I'm probably one of the only people in the world who liked Mario 2 better than Mario 3.  Heck, I also like Super Mario World and Yoshi's Island better than 3.  But 3 did have some creative power-ups.

For me, the best game on the NES was probably Zelda.

Played it on release, NES. Still the best Mario, 2D or 3D, in my estimation.  Nothing was wasted in this game. Even the map was a (board)game in itself.

I played it on Virtual Console. I love the overworld maps. You can choose an area and complete it to unlock the next. Cool.
