Good morning Pixlpeeps! I figured I should get back on my normal routine of Monday and Friday entries, and use the rest of the week to read your writings. So guess what? I actually fired up my PS4. After updating (ugh!, seriously why can’t it update automatically like the PS3) I was ready to go. I also spent some time with the 3DS XL, along with my usual tablet gaming. Sounds like fun? Well we should get started.

First thing is that I got this notification this morning

Yeah I’m going to say no to this. I like my current setup and being able to use the SD card as additional storage for installed apps, and games.

Also this is a huge gripe for me when it comes to the freemium games on tablets

Companies that force you to either sign up with them so they can flood your inbox with BS, or connect to your Facebook so they can have a database of your friends. I’m ok with ads, and I’m ok with folks wanting to charge a couple of bucks for their game, but don’t pull this crap. I just want to play the game, not get a bunch of email that I don't want.

Oh so I did a couple of things over the weekend gaming related. I updated my Backloggery page with my latest pickups, not including tablet games yet, and I updated my games played/finished list. Both were lacking in updates and the list I forgot to add a couple of games.

Alright let’s get to what I played

Lego Dimensions – PS4

I finished off another level in Lego Dimensions and I really like how the base and the actual figures are being utilized with the onscreen puzzles. Even though its just swapping positions on the base, the light schemes and being able to write to certain bases makes this base much more interesting than the Disney Infinity Base. In actual gameplay having different figures makes the game a lot easier especially when you have characters that have specialty moves like flying and having a laser. I played two levels, one being level 5 or 6 in the Story Mode, and I finished this special level

I never played through more than a level or two in Portal, but playing this level was a lot of fun. The puzzles within this level are challenging but not difficult and it is easy to achieve all three trophies in one play through* (I also had a couple of special characters in my party to unlock certain sections, and there are still other sections for figures that haven’t been released yet)

MLB The Show 15 – PS4

I haven’t played my Road To The Show character in about a month, and when I started it up, I got a notification that Video Game Chris, currently in Double A Binghamton, had his contract bought out and was promoted to the New York Mets. It was fun to look at Citi Field and it was huge compared to the Double A stadiums I was used to. First play on defense and I threw it to the wrong base. Oh well. The first AB, on the second pitch I sent the ball to right center. This game turned out to be one hell of a debut with three Home Runs

The Mets lost to the Braves in 18 innings but that was a fun first game in the majors.

Grand Theft Auto V – PS4

I decided to continue my brother’s storyline (he started a new game) instead of my current one. I messed up around the part where Franklin does missions for Lester. The only thing I’m dreading is the portion with Trevor. I’m not a fan of his missions especially the early ones. Since I’ve already completed this game on the PS3 I just skip the cut scenes and go straight to the missions. I’d like to keep it on the hard drive but I have a couple of other games I’d like to add to the PS4, and there is a limited amount of hard drive space.

NCAA Football 14 – PS3

I am in year 3 of my Georgia State Dynasty, and currently the Panthers are ranked 3rd in the nation and I have a five game streak where the team has scored at least 50 points per game. The offense is really good, but the defense is average, but they are only giving up 17 points per game. At the end of last season I passed on the University of Miami, and Auburn to stay with the Georgia State Panthers. I'm finding a lot of fun scheduling teams from the MAC, and my rivalry game between Georgia State and Georgia Tech.

Disney’s Planes – 3DS

I finally tried this game over the weekend and so far it feels like Pilotwings. The controls are easy most of the first section of the game is tutorial items. There are different things to do in the game from flying through hoops, to collecting pellets to use the water gun, a laser (?) and another item. I’ve never seen the movie but I’m assuming the main character in the game is the main character in the movie. I can’t wait to see how the full game is once I get through all these tutorials.

Dead or Alive Dimensions – 3DS

After trying Planes for a bit I popped this game in and gave it a try. I didn’t try any of the fighting modes, but I started with the Story Mode. The Story Mode is similar to the Dead or Alive 5+ Story Mode on the Vita. From what I have seen so far the fight controls are limited to the 3DS layout but works. A pleasant surprise with this game is that I tried a little bit in 3D. The 3D looks REALLY GOOD. I might try playing this game exclusively in 3D just to see how my body handles it. In other games I would get dizzy, but with this game it seems like it really hasn’t affected me.

Tablet Gaming:

Sonic Dash 2: I got the highest score among all players during a tournament and unlocked some cool little sprites that offers a score bonus which is nice.

Simpsons Tapped Out: I really don’t care for the Halloween theme items but I did unlock a couple of new things. I think I’m in the point where I’m burned out with the game until Christmas comes along.

Fight Games: MK X and WWE Immortals are still going on. I don’t think I unlocked anything new

Asphalt 7: I am four levels away from completing the game. I didn’t play this game for a week and during the daily free spins for bonuses I kept getting stars, which helped me unlock a new level.

Need for Speed Most Wanted: I am three racers away from finishing the game again. I’m debating on moving the date on my table forward so I can purchase the special NFS Black cars. One new car is available each week.

Other Game News…

I’m currently trying out a FPS on the iPad. It was a freebie on iTunes in their Free App of the Week. I’ll let you folks know if I continue with it or remove it from my hard drive.

I also picked up some new $5 games for my $5 Hour games. I’ll start that back up once I get going on some games.

I'm starting to get the itch to play video games with a plastic guitar again. Both Guitar Hero and Rock Band look interesting but I don't need both. I'll wait for a price drop, which will give me more time to see which game is best for me. I do like Guitar Hero, but I enjoyed Rock Band on the PSP. When I had the other hard drive in my PS2 I realy enjoyed the fan made Guitar Hero games.

Alright Pixlpeeps I am off. I put off watching WWE’s Battle Ground, their new Hard Knocks like show to watch while eating lunch and I am getting hungry. Have a good week!

That’s all for now, more later!

-Chris

I just beat LEGO Dimensions.  I'll probably write a blog about it before the year's over.  The ending will make Portal fans (like me) happy.

Cool. I still have a bit of Lego burnout so I'm playing through Dimensions really slowly. At some point I will finish Lego Jurassic World

That Lego Portal pic is pretty bad ass. I had trouble with the Trevor missions. Shooting a row of guys from the wing of a moving airplane caused me to rage quit. I'll be back though.

Hate those Trevor missions. If it was just Franklin and Michael I would have played through the game multiple times. Trevor has a purpose but damn I just don't enjoy playing through his storyline.

The shooting is much improved from previous GTA games, but it's still a slight pain.

Yeah. I should mix it up when I get to his missions and play the shooting portions in first person to see if it changes my view on on his missions.

How was the NFS beta by the way? Or did you wind up doing that?

I caught the first sketch of the new Treehouse. Interesting it seemed to spoof Re-Animaror, a movie I had only become aware of two days ago because of a Cracked article.

I may install Bloodborne before GTAV just cause it's Halloween, but I should really install both. My PS4 does automatically update. You can set it to do so. Only problem is sometimes mine quits halfway through a game DL and I don't find out until I turn the system on. Need to see if there's a setting for that.

Congrats on Sonic Dash 2! Surprised how long it took for an eternal runner game of sonic, honestly.

You rooting for Royals or Mets tonight? I'm going Mets, despite the fact they beat my Red Sox in '86. I'm basically rooting for them cause Stewart likes them and I wasn't alive for the Buckley blunder. But if Royals win due to a Mets blunder in game 6, I'll think "poetic justice" and be content. Aside from Cubs or my Rangers not being there, I'm happy with how things have gone.

Shoot I totally forgot about the NFS Beta. I remember seeing the old email a couple of days ago but never followed it through.

I wish I could get into the Tapped Out during Halloween especially with the Simpsons folks putting in so much work with the Treehouse episodes.

I wonder if my PS4 is setup like that. I know the dang PS3 fires up at 6am uploading saves and downloading whatever patches/updates that are needed.

The first Sonic game is more true to the Sonic games. The second one seems to be Sonic Characters slapped into a running world with Sonic enemies. At least in the first one Dr. Robotnik is in the end of certain sections.

I'm going with the Mets. Former Aztec Pitcher Addison Reed is in the Mets bullpen plus I own a Mets hat. I probably won't wear my Mets cap for a while because I don't want to be associated with Southern California bandwagon folks
