 Question #07

 Hey Pixlbit, how are you?

amiibo

Toys to Life. If you don't know what that is, a simple way to put it is toys that you buy to use as characters (or vehicles) in a game compatible with them. You could use a figure in a game to use that character. Also, you can use your figures in the next/recent installment of said game franchise. In other words, plastic/physical dlc. First there was Skylanders. Then Disney Infinity. Last year we got amiibo. And Lego Dimensions just recently. So this week's question(s) is what is your opinion on Toys to Life? Both the concept and figures. Neat idea or waste of money? Do you think the bubble will burst if they introduce another figure line? How many do you have, if any?

Sorry if I was a little late with this, so thanks for reading and later.

It's a neat idea. Having figures for a game is almost better than having the game as a disc. I totally want to go nuts on Skylanders figures. I've been good though and I've only bought one amiibo, Olimar.

I think it's both a neat idea and a waste of money as well as a way to hide certain things probably on these discs' codes behind a paywall. Love the concept, not a huge fan of the obvious nickel-and-diming tactics designed to appeal to the collector part of gamers' brains. I own none, but got my buddy a Samus amiibo around Christmas 2013.

I think it's a neat idea and has done very well.  But it can also be viewed as a waste of money, too.  But if you enjoy it, it's not a waste.  I enjoy revieweing Skylanders titles, but I never bought a single one.  The only ones I have are the ones that came with the review copies.  I enjoy getting the Amiibo figures because I like all the characters, and most can be used with more than just one game.  Disney Infinity has a lot of neat recognizable characters, but they limit you on when you can use them, so they missed the point with that.  LEGO Dimensions has the right idea, too, but LEGO toys are expensive and are a bit too small for me to work with.  But I still enjoyed the LEGO Dimensions game, mainly because of Portal.

If you know my track record, then you know I have a small investment practically in these things, lol! I have Skylanders, Amiibo, Infinity, and Im actually thinking about getting the new Lego ones starting next year since the Harley Quinn and Jokers set doesnt release till then. I enjoy them, I know people find them to be big cash grabs but I always say, dont like something, dont buy it. I will admit Skylanders was kinda....eh this year. Superchargers was a disappointment which is sad because Trap Team all but revived the series. Infinity I think won this year with Star Wars.

I have quite a few Disney Infinity and amiibo toys displaying on my shelf. WIth the Nintendo figures, it's more about toy collecting. I don't really use them for DLC. With Infinity, they are required for the game, but also like collecting them. It is what it is. I said I wouldnt buy into this gimmick, and now I have over 10 figures, and will probably be adding the new Avengers and Star Wars figures in the near future, actually, I already own Han Solo and Chewbaca for Infinity 3.0, oops!

I love the idea but the various implementations have never got me very excited. I'm also a cheapskate, so I'm very hesitant to get into something that could cost so much. I do have Samus and Mega Man amiibos though. I enjoy having them just as little statues lol.

I don't own a single figure or toy. Cool for those that do though. Post a pic!

like KNight Driver says, it's a neat idea.  But it doesn't really appeal to me.  The lego one seems pretty cool though.

I haven't bought one Amiibo yet.
