Good morning, Pixlbit Nation! How is everyone this Tueday? I'm spending a lazy morning drinking coffee and laughing about what some people are getting offended over on the internet. Red coffee cups are apparently an attack on Christmas. Seriously, some people have way too much time on their hands. Me, there are never enough hours in the day for everything I want to do.

Playing: I grabbed Costume Quest 2 while it was on sale last week. I've been having fun roaming around exploring every nook and cranny and I'm nearing the end of the game. I don't like the button press timing on the attacks, but it's not really affecting the outcome of the battles too much. Other than that, it's another fun little offering from Doublefine. I have to thank NSonic79 for reminding me of its existence.

Also downloaded one of the Star Wars packs for Pinball FX2. Been having fun with those, too.

Still playing Zestiria. Hoping to get in an all-day session in the next day or two.

Animal Crossing...I'm starting to lose interest in having to drop in daily. When things start to feel like a chore, it's time to take a break. I'll be sorry to lose all my pretty flowers, but oh, well.

Reading: Finished Not For Glory a few days ago and started on Hero, by the same author. It's a prequel and not a sequel. I have to say that none of Joel Rosenberg's other books are as good as Not For Glory. His Guardians of the Flame series lost my interest well before the end of the first book. Hero isn't bad, it's just not as good.

Listening: Mostly the crap they pipe into the store while I'm at work. We have no control over the content and you never know what era is going to be playing when. I don't mind the 80s stuff, it's the earlier stuff that gets on my nerves. Hopefully they won't move on to crappy Christmas music until after Thanksgiving.

Watching: Caught all the way up on Agents of SHIELD. That show just keeps getting better and better. Watched The Mummy Returns and tried watching the third movie in the collection last night (The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor), but it was so bad we shut it off after half an hour or so and watched wildlife documentaries on Netflix instead.

Other stuff: I have a mouse in the cottage,  and no, it's not a new pet. Little bastard has been chewing into my food in the cupboards. Had to throw a bunch of food out because it chewed through the bags and food got stale or it chewed into boxes, had a snack and then pooped on what was left. The most interesting sampling took place in a box that contains small envelopes of cayenne pepper. It either got a big shock, or I'm dealing with a relative of Speedy Gonzalez. There was also a trail of mouse turds going across the floor from the cupboard to Bandit's food dish, where mousie sampled the dog food that Bandit spills on the floor when he eats. Kaylee has done nothing to curb the mouse's raiding, and I am now firmly convinced she is receiving bribes to look the other way. I refuse to use poison to combat the rodents here, it gets into the food chain and kills a lot of birds of prey and small mammal predators like foxes, so I need to use a trap. As I have no desire for dead rodents in the food cupboard, I bought a live trap off Amazon and am impatiently waiting for it to arrive. I'm going to take Mousie on a lovely long drive and dump his little ass out in the campground at my old park. The owls will hopefully grab it, and if not them, the fox that lives behind the equipment shed may get lucky.

Today is Jason's and my only day off together, and we're planning to go see the new 007 movie. I am excited.

Have an awesome week, people!

Do I want to know what you mean by an attack on Christmas?

I'm seeing the new Bond film tomorrow. Looking forward to it, though I'm not expecting it to be near as good as Skyfall was.

No, Kevin, you don't, but here it is anyway: Starbucks is going low key this year with a plain red to go coffee cup. It pairs nicely with the little sleeves with nowflakes they provide, and they can use them after Christmas is over. Some nut job on the internet sees this as an attack on Christmas and Christians and has lit up the newsfeeds. Tempest in a coffee cup, if you ask me.

Hard to top Skyfall in any way, shape, or form.

Wonder if the new movie can overcome the specter of Skyfall.

Came pretty close, Joe.

I am jealous you two are going to see the next Bond flick. I will probably go in a couple of days because there is a new local theater with some ultra fancy screen, and reclining seats.

People like to be offended. If its not the color of the cup, it'll probably be a problem with the cheese danish being served. Its always something stupid that get people going.

How good is SHIELD? This season is going to be really good.

I'm trying to get myself used to speed reading, and right now my head and eyes don't like it. Hopefully I can get used to it so I can read more.

Today was our only day off together and Thursday is Jason's birthday, so it was present to him.

OMG! I was not expecting that to be the identity of Lash! Can't wait for the next episode!

I'm glad you're not using glue boards. I think they are sadistic, frankly. I've seen pieces of mouse on glue boards elsewhere. I felt very bad when we used one one time and a mouse got stuck on it. It was still alive and I didn't have the heart to put it out of its misery, so I just put it in the dumpster. Then all I could think of was that little thing laying there alone in the dark, slowly dying, stuck. Pitiful and cruel fate.

I think the social isolation I've gone through the last few years has given be a bigger picture, non-humancentric view of existence. Aside from family, human beings are about as apart from me now as any other mammal. Thus, the suffering of humans and animals has become equal to me. It reminds me of a Conan story I read where he was contemplating some large, carnivorous reptile that was waiting to eat him. In his mind, there wasn't the huge gulf between him and this other creature that civilized man would see. It was just another organimsm with its own counterpart characteristics. That's where I am now, for better or worse.

I don't blame the mouse for living large in my food cupboard and enjoying the warmth and safety living in my cottage provides, so I don't see any reason to kill it. I don't want here, it's a destructive little critter and I've had to throw away food I really can't afford to lose, so it has to go. Just because it has to go doesn't mean it needs to die. And yes, glue traps are evil and incredibly inhumane. So I wait, impatiently, for Amazon to ship my Hav-a-Hart trap, which I will bait with peanut butter and oatmeal, a mixture that no mouse I've ever dealt with has ever been able to resist.

As for your view, it's pretty much the same that Buddhism and many pre-Christian belief systems believe.

whoa that Conan story sounds awesome. I have a collection of those somewhere in my closet but I haven't read it yet!

i got Costume Quest 2 as well. I need the first one now. If only it would get discounted like 2, I'd start it right away.

I saw the Bond flick. I liked it. Not amazing though.

Finished Costume Quest 2. I thought the first one was worth the $15 price tag, but that's just me.

I really liked Spectre. Daniel Craig is the best Bond ever, in my opinion, but that may be because I'd read all the books before I ever saw a Bond movie and he's the closest to Ian Fleming's Bond, and his movies have the same flavor as the books.

I'm considering getting CQ at that price. I may do it.

I like Craig too. I noticed just a touch of humor in this one, just in a few spots. Makes me think they might be going back to the more shmarmy Bond of the past for the next one. I know, this is not a pleasing idea to you.

That mouse ate your cheynne pepper powder?  That must be Super Mouse!  He's probably breathing fire by now.  Just what you need, a fire breathing mouse!

Wasn't there a type of cheese you could feed to the mouse in Dragon Quest VIII that would make it breathe fire?

I think so, but I've never actually played that game.
