Good Morning Pixlpeeps! I was going to type this up yesterday but Pixlbit was having problems (Thanks Pixlbit Magicians for fixing the problem). I started to write my blog around lunch, got lazy and forgot. I figured I might as well combine my usual what I was playing and a special first half of the week Quick Hits because I might or might not do a Quick Hits on Black Friday. If I do have one on Friday it’ll probably be me wandering around Target and Walmart taking pictures of people’s carts (I’m going to avoid the first hour of crazy where people are fighting over cheap bad electronics). Let’s get started!

Chris Is Thankful For (the non sappy version)

Cell Phones: Yesterday I was sitting in a waiting for almost three hours. During that time to try and keep from falling asleep I played a couple of games, browsed Twitter, Facebook, Reddit, and I streamed Vanderpump Rules

The last one eats a lot of data. I doubled my data use for the month by streaming an episode, but its all good because I never go over 1GB and this was my first time I went over that mark. 1.47GB used for the month!

Game Updates/DLC: I like to bitch about the long install times, and huge update files, but I’m glad developers offer these fixes and add-ons to games because they do breathe new life into games.

Tablet Games: What other platform offers a ton of game content (even with the Freemium caps) available for free? Granted there are some crappy games, but if you take the time to search past those games there are a bunch of really solid games to play. Heck I’ve been playing one for over three years, and a couple of others for more than a year.

Pixlbit: Thanks Magicians of Pixlbit for giving me an online hope to share my thoughts about a hobby we all share…and a place for me to also share my randoms of Quick Hits. Tons of good people here, and lots of content to check out. You folks rock!

So what are you folks thankful for? You can be sappy if you'd like

Chris Plays…

Guitar Hero Live – PS4: Ok so I’ve played this game for a couple of days and I’m getting used to the new controller setup

The stacked six buttons make the game easier to use, but at the same time it’s a whole new layout to get used to and many times I would confuse the locations of the black and white buttons.

The layout of the game is also different where you don’t see your score until after the set is played. The songs within the set are also played one after the other, which keeps you in the concert mindset. When you miss notes the crowd gets quiet and your band mates give you dirty looks, which is fun. I haven’t played a bunch of the Live portion of the game but I really like the concept of being able to play a bunch of songs that are currently playing. The only section of GHL I haven’t tried is Quick Play but I’m assuming it’s the one holdover from older Guitar Hero games. Currently I am playing on Regular which give me enough of a challenge until I get used to the controls. The occasional chord where it combines a white and black button still throws me off but other than that I hold my own and score between high 80s-mid 90s on songs.

Band Hero – PS3: Before I picked up GHL I was playing a lot of this game, and I will probably play more of it just to finish the World Tour, but for now GHL will get all the plastic instrument time. Anyways as for this game, it has more songs I like playing than the actual Guitar Hero that came with the guitar.

Yeah I got a perfect score on the Spice Girl’s Wannabe. #HumbleBrag

NCAA Football – PS3: Year two with the Baylor Bears is going well. I have Kyle Whittingham as my Offensive Coordinator (he’s currently the head coach of the Utah Utes) and the offense is running wild score at least 50 points a game during a 6 game winning streak.

Dash Quest – Android/iOS: I saw that Mothman posted about this game because his friend works with the developer. I’m not big on RPGs, but I do like Runners, and gave this game a try and I really like it. It has that fun 8-bit look, with simple touch controls and as you make your way through different environments you swing your weapon and block on coming enemies. At the end of each run you can spend your earned coins on upgrades to make your journey just a bit easier. The game is a lot of fun, and to get one continue after your character dies you can watch a 30 second ad. Check this game out!

Chris Takes Pictures…

I like how this one turned out, especially the angel.

Over the weekend I went to a wedding in another desert community that I rarely visit because it’s an hour away and a small town.

This is the desert

My artsy picture of the centerpiece

And what I was doing before the wedding began

While I was in this little town I made a couple of stops at their local Marshall’s and Ross because I always think they have something cool that isn’t at my stores, and since this town is close by a military base, they would have more of a selection. I found some sneakers and this little contraption for my phone

These are little lenses that clip on over the phone camera.

The set comes with the clip, a Wide Angle, Fish Eye, and Micro lenses. Not a bad deal for $8.

The Fish Eye

The Wide Angle *Hey there’s my shadow

The Micro

The lenses are not the best things, but they are fun, cheap, and something I’ll probably carry around with my phone and add some something new to my phone pictures.

Thanks for looking at my pictures!

Randoms

While roaming around Goodwill looking for CDs (why are they so expensive now?) I spotted this jersey

If it was my size I would have bought it

Speaking of jerseys, last night it was finally cold enough (remember East Coast, my cold is different from your cold) to wear hockey jerseys so naturally my first hockey jersey of the season is my favorite

My Paul Kariya Mighty Ducks of Anaheim jersey. I’m going to wear hockey jerseys as much as possible because its too hot to wear them here.

My local Toys R Us has a habit of putting items on the floor that haven’t hit their street date. They had the Incredible Hulk regular size minifigure that breaks an ATV. It’s a $5 polybag and a Toys R Us exclusive. When I went to pay for it once again I got the “We can’t sell this” which is fine, but stop placing these items on the floor. The manager was nice enough to put the two polybags on hold for me and on December 6th I can go back and pick them up.

While I was there I spotted this in the non-Lego aisle

Game of Thrones meets plastic construction bricks. At some point I will probably buy this.

I preordered this game back in June and I got an email from GameStop

Good thing they sent this because I forgot what the exclusive minifigure is.

Pickups

Games

Ok so this was supposed to be my Black Friday pickup but on Sunday Target had a heck of a deal.

On Target’s Cartwheel App, there was a 35% off deal if you use the app, and that brought the price of the game down from $100 to $65. Target also had a 10% off in their electronics section with the usual exclusions and it came down to $58.5 before taxes. Can’t go wrong with this because it is right around the normal retail price of a new game and you get a controller.

Music

Foo Fighters gave away an EP on iTunes for free. If you have iTunes go get it, because free music is always good

When I was roaming around Goodwill I spotted this audiobook with all the VHS tapes instead of with the CDs

I just finished ripping all 14 discs to a playlist and when I finish writing this update I will add it to my phone.

Alright Pixlbit I need to do some errands because tomorrow is turkey day. For you folks outside the USA, grab a turkey sandwich and celebrate with us. Have a good week Pixlpeeps!

That’s all for now, more later!

-Chris

I never got into it enough to start ploaying with lenses, but those are some pretty pictures with and without the fish eye.

Happy Turkey Day Eve!

The phone lenses are fun to play with but I don't see myself whipping all of that out if I'm going to take a picture but currently I do have the fish eye ready to go in the pouch.

Hope you and the family had a good Turkey Day

Lenses for the phone. Cool! When I get one, I'll get those lenses for sure. I love the wide angle shot.

The lenses are fun to mess around with, and the quality isn't bad. I'll carry them around with me but if I need to take a quick picture I don't see myself taking the time to attach them to my phone.

those lenses are pretty cool!  I have an iphone 4 and the pics it takes aren't so good.  But I'm gonna get a new phone soon, and hope to take more pics with it.

I'm thankful for my family and my dogs, and my projects which take up my time.  I wish I could be thankful there's an Eagles game on today, but honestly I'm dreading it!

When you make the jump to a new phone, you're in for a treat with the camera quality. I use an app called Camera+ and there are a lot of really cool options in terms of file quality, filters, edits, and other goodies.

Good stuff man, and it could be worse, you could have been a Cowboys fan hearing about how this current team could make a run for the Super Bowl only to watch all of that disappear because of injury and heartbreaking ways to lose each game.
