I'll do it here because unlike Facebook it won't be seen by family until next week when everything is sorted and I'm busting to tell someone.
Starting January 4th I have a new job. I'm leaving the school board for a position as an Engineer in the Identity and Access Management space. It's what I was doing for the Hospitals back before 2010 and it's more in line with where I belong at this point in my career. It's also a 22k increase in salary so SCORE!
I'm excited, sad and scared all at the same time. This is what I've been dreaming I'd get back to since I left it but I love my job at the school board. The difference I make there for teachers, students and office staff is huge. They just don't pay worth a shit and sticking around would mean bankruptcy so I have to leave. It's making me very sad though.
Also scared because I need to apply some oil to my skills to get back up to speed. Can I do it? I bloody well hope so.
So I'm a bit confused with emotions at the moment.
There, I've told someone. Now I might not explode. The school board won't find out until Monday. My boss and senior management will not be pleased. :(
I'm going to have to brush up some skills for my new job in January as well ... and start apartment hunting, which I can't do until like 2 weeks from now due to my traveling circus of a job. Speaking of which, I need to download the Adobe Cloud thingy to start knocking out some InDesign/PhotoShop tasks I need the kids to do.
We can do it! And I'm glad you're getting an increase in salary! I'm going into a field that can pay very well after tenure, but ... right now it's more of a lateral move financially.
