Question #11

Hey Pixlbit, how are you?

                                      Gameboy Color

I love handheld gaming, especially if they have the name Nintendo plastered on it. Which brings us to the question of the week. Question: What is the very first handheld system you ever owned? What's the very first handheld you ever played? Do you still own it?

Sorry if I was rather late, I recently got a certain game and well, like any good game, you lose track of time. So, thanks for reading and later.

The Game Boy! I got it for Christmas the year it released with Tetris and Super Mario Land. I still have both the system and the aforementioned games.

Honestly, I was never a huge fan of the system and was eventually pretty envious of friends who got a Game Gear. The next handheld I got, I bought myself in High School, which was the Game Boy Advance when it launched. Again, wasn't the world's biggest fan of the system due to the lack of backlighting on the screen. If I did decide to play Game Boy games, I did it on the Game Boy Player on the GameCube when that eventually released.

It wasn't until the DS launched that I truly started to fall in love with handheld gaming. Between the clam shell design, the backlit screen, the backwards compatibility, and the touch screen, it finally made handheld gaming comfortable and convenient and truly gave them their own identity.

I think my first handheld was an arcade cabinet-shaped Pac-Man LCD game.

I wasn't impressed with the Game Boy at first.  I could already play Tetris on my PC, and I couldn't understand why anyone would want to play on such a tiny green screen.  The first game that really showed me there was a future in handheld gaming was Link's Awakening, which ended up being my top favorite Zelda game of all time.

Most of the time, Nintendo ruled my handheld gaming time.  I did get into a lot of PSP games, but there was one time that I liked a handheld better than Nintendo's.  And that was the Neo Geo Pocket Color.  I thought that SNK vs. Capcom: Card Fighters Clash was better than Pokemon!

Game Boy. It's still at home with the batteries corroding.

The first games handheld games I owned were those Tiger games.  My first was Double Dragon.  I lost that thing many years ago.

Mattel Electronics Baseball back in '79. It's an LED game with an overlay. It seems so simple, but I was pretty attached to it for a while back then.

I don't have my original one, but I got one of the rereleases a few years ago. I didn't play another handheld until the DS in 2004. Then, I started going back to Game Boy and Game Boy Color.

Game Boy, unfortunately I don't have it as it was stolen years ago along with my copy of Pokemon Red Version.

I started with the gameboy and Pokemon Yellow. Its still my fave of the first generation. I have the game somewhere at home, the system has been long gone.

The original Game Boy with Kirby's Dream Land. That Game Boy is still at my parents' house somewhere, as far as I know, though something happened to Dream Land and I've since re-bought it lol

The Gameboy Advance SP. Despite its size, an amazing handheld gaming device. I don't have it right now, however. Probably traded it for credit at a local game store.
