You make a great point. That little timeline snafu never occurred to me. Don't think there would be much of anything left after they nuked it! Just another botched part of a disaster. I had such high hopes for this game. And I was quite disappointed by the reviews I saw and read. How could they spend so much time and cash and have it end up a bad game. I will be interested to see what you think of it if you play through the game.

**If you haven't seen "Aliens" (1986) and don't want me to ruin the ending for you- don't read this!** x)
Alright, so I don't claim to be an expert on the Alien franchise- but I do have a bit of an issue with the new Colonial Marines game. It's enough of an issue that until someone clears it up for me I refuse to play it. (I've also heard it's a terrible game, but that aside...)
I repeat again, I haven't played the game. Put down your pitchforks- this is just food for thought.
I've heard that Randy Pitchford (the President of Gearbox) says that this game is a "true sequel" to Aliens (1986). Riddle me this:
The Sulaco ship flew everyone to LV-426. It;'s no secret that there was a nuclear reactor on the colony complex. There was damage which led to the core becoming a ticking time bomb. It explodes in a big nulear mushroom-poof wiping out everything on the planet's surface.
You mean to tell me that these new marines are redispatched and spelunking arond in a colony that's been COMPLETELY nuked- and the structure just suffered a few dings and scratches? It seems as if they completely neglected the fact that the nuclear blast ever happened- even though it's painfully obvious since it's 95% of the ending to the Aliens movie.
I don't get it. x(
If you google a bit, you'll see there are plenty of other lists about the crazy loopholes and unexplained things that Gearbox is getting blamed for- but I just can't wrap my head around this grievous oversight. How can you base a game in a place that was obliterated? It's not like they played the Song of Time. xD
