Hermit Mode Level: Avoiding Star Wars Spoilers

I'll need to be very careful with how I use the Internet these next few days, if at all.

Give me your PSN and Steam names in the comments, cause that may be the only way to reach me until I see the movie. lol

I downloaded Shadow Complex for free. Trailer has me excited given all the review comparisons to Super Metroid. Gonna play it some tomorrow when we travel to Temple, TX for work. Gonna have a friend bring his DVD copy of Galaxy Quest for me to watch on the way down there. 2 hour est. trip, bout hour and a half movie. Think my laptop can handle it too as long as I juice it up.

So a while back I had a blog asking what top 5 lists I should make for a podcast. Just recently said my peace on my 5 favorite games this year on The Lower Level podcast which Blake is currently editing. Be looking for that, I think he said he'd try to have it out by Thursday but it's a huge podcast where Blake, Casey, Jamie and myself give our lists then debate a final one so we'll see how long editing takes. We did decide on a theme song to open it at least. That decision was unanimous. I'll let you hear it when the podcast comes out assuming none of the other guys say it before then.

Anyway, since it's 2015, a year ripe for top 5 lists I think I just might take a look at all the top 5s you guys suggested and start answering those comments with the requested top 5s til year's end.

There's so much I want in gaming, but I really have to figure out a budget so I can pay my loans down. I had some big expenses with the car and a couple PSN sales, but the little expenses on food I've had during this travel job I've had since October left me keping only 25% of my earnings based on what I calcualted from my checking account history. That's unacceptable and I really have to do better. Luckily, my pay has been raised from $9/hr to $10/hr just yesterday, as have all auditors (starting position at RGIS, inventory team I work for). The bad news is I'll have to quit right as they are starting their busy season, since I need to look for apartments for my adjunct professor job starting next month. I am hoping to seal a deal on an apartment and help them out for a bit, since that job won't start until the 15th. They need all the help they can get, so I bet they'd let me on if I asked, especially since I've been told several times I'm one of their better newbies (they were even wanting to make me an expert/give me a raise by now, but I got stuck in certain sections due to other people not showing up). We'll see.

I really wish this site had instant messaging. It'd make Facebook so much less tempting. Right now it's a great one stop site for my news & politics junkie cravings as well as just talking to friends when I'm bored. Hoping to replace that first part with Yahoo! News (where my site blocker takes me if I try to go to Facebook) and some kind of forum. Not really a forum guy though, so maybe I'll just start texting people.

Sound off in the comments.

In honor of today's Final Smash announcement, here's the Bayonetta poster revealed along with her as a playable character since she was #1 in Europe and Worldwide and in the Top 5 USA of "realizable" characters. Anyone know the poll results? I think the light/dark thing is cool, but while the matchups make sense (Ryu vs. Lil' Mac, Pit vs. Meta Knight) for the most part, some of the "dark" characters are not that dark ... unless Mr. Game & Watch and R.O.B. the Robot have viallanous intent ... which I now want to see the story behind. I kinda want a game where they team up for evil now. Also LOL at the Villager being on the "dark" side. Forgive my ignorance, but who's the ninja looking character opposite Samus? Cool artowrk anyway though and congrats to the development team on all those big numbers related to the game. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't disappointed Shovel Knight won't be on the roster, but Bayonetta is a fine choice (a mighty European one too, if you think about it).

Amen to that brother.  I totally am not using Twitter, that seems most dangerous.

Actually I might start using Twitter more. I think I'd be more careful about what I say if I knew it was public. I think I've mouthed off on Facebook a bit too much. If I don't delete it, since that would take a while given all the pictures and stuff I have on there and the fact a lot of sites I use I log in with Facebook, I might just deactivate my current account every time I log out and create a new one that appears more professional.

Well what I mean is Twitter seems the most dangerous place for Star Wars spoilers. Of course Facebook could have one too but I closed down Twitter first.

You're right, but I don't really visit Twitter anyway and so I'm not concerned. With my luck, I'll probably just see some random headline about a spoiler when I Google Search something else. lol And of course the second Batman v. Superman trailer spoiled the whole damn movie.

I know man. WB is dumb.

I'm still gonna see it ... assuming Doomsday looks less like shit CGI and maybe Baffleck doesn't just look like a fat Ben Affleck wearing a suit. The other Batmans haven't really looked like themselves in the suit. For4 whatever reason, I just see Ben Affleck in that suit and think "that's just Affleck wearin' hockey pads."

I'm looking forward to seeing the new Star Wars movie with my family late Thursday night.  If I write about it I'll try to keep spoilers to a minimum, if at all.  If I talk about anything it'll probably be just stuff you can already see in the previews, like "is it just me, or does that new rolling droid remind you of Katamari Damacy?"

As far as Smash is concerned, I'm pretty happy with Pac-Man/Kirby/Mega Man.

We'll be having dinner with my dad for his birthday this Sunday, but I'm excited for you. I'm seeing it as soon as I can after that, cause I doubt I'll find tickets now. I'll probably ask a friend to a midday showing on like Tuesday of next week.

I figure you're just happy with Pac-Man in any case. lol I still think Shovel Knight would have been a great fit, but I have no complaints about Bayonetta. I mean, I don't even own the game, so I really can't say much anyway except that I hope a GOTY edition gets released down the line for when I get a Wii U or 3DS.

Bayonetta was a neat game, but I didn't like that she fought angels so I stopped playing it after a while, because I like angels.  And it was pretty gross and violent and I guess I'm a big baby.  But it was still a fun action game.  I would've been happier with Shovel Knight or Shantae in Smash, though.

Shantae is another good one.

That "Ninja looking character" may either be Marth or Lucina (from Fire Emblem Awakening). Hard to see from that angle.

I was happy with the presentation, mostly because of Bayonetta. It was a shame nobody from the Indie world of gaming made it and shame an Inkling from Splatoon didn't, but Bayonetta looks awesome all-around. It does makes me wanna finally start my copy of the game.

I'm not worried about spoilers, but just watching the movie itself, like seriously, every movie theater is going to be full, no question about it.

Super Step Contributing Writer

Probably Lucina. I know Marth from Melee.

I think the Mii/hat thing for Splatoon is enough, honestly. I bet they will have a Splatoon character on the original roster for the next Smash.

Yeah, I'm not gonna fight crowds. I'll catch an evening show on a weekday.

Reminds me I have to check Facebook IM to see about hooking up with a friend to see SW this weekend.

Good luck getting tix this weekend. You're gonna need the force to be with you on that one. They've already made 100 million on pre-sale.

Added you on Steam and found you on PSN, but for some reason PSN on my laptop is shitty. Maybe my privacy settings, but it says I have 0 trophies and I cannot for the life of me figure out how to add people.

I think with your Facebook issue you can have two sites: one for family and friends where you can do/say whatever is on your mind, and another that is more professional and doesn't all the crazy stuff. A couple of local news reporters have this setup and I think its a good way to keep personal and professional life separate. If Pixlbit ever decided to have an instant messaging option I hope it won't be like Facebook where one app sends you to another app instead of having everything in one tidy place. I guess the next best thing would be to Direct Message on Twitter.

I'm probably going to stay off of Reddit for a week or so because of folks wanting to spoil Star Wars. I think the people I follow on Twitter will be ok, and the worse things I will see on there will probably be how good/bad the film will be.

Nice, there is going to be a new podcast to add to the rotation. It'll be a nice change of pace to mix in with the sports podcasts I've been listening to.

I've never been sent to another app for IM. Am guessing you are on your phone? I only really use my laptop, since my phone cannot data for jack these days.

Thanks for listening to our podcast!

I wish I had cable, so I could follow my teams better. To be honest, I am a bigger Mavs fan than anything, but I just don't have cable to watch them.

Yeah I use the Facebook App, and when you get a message it shows that you have a message on the app, but when you click on the text icon, it sends you to the Facebook App which is stupid. It worked fine in the original app, but the folks at Facebook felt I needed a separate app. Its like how Facebook used to have a photo app to "help" you take pictures to post on Facebook.

Funny thing about Cable, when I didn't have it I'd complain about not having any choices for television, and I've had FiOS for a couple of years, I stick to maybe 10 channels. I haven't watch much of the Bulls or Clippers this season (I hate the new Clippers uniforms), I'll get into it once football season is done, and then I'll shift to Basketball and Hockey

So originally, I my wife and decided to wait a week or two before seeing Star Wars becasue I was concered about having to compete with legions of super fans that will be seeing the movie repeatedly every day for evey showing time. Just wanted to avoid the rush.

Then last night as we began watching watching Return of the Jedi, the wife pauses and then says "hey...wanna  take off work early and see the new Star wars on Friday?"

That was all it took. 5 mintues later we had tickets reserved for an afternoon showing for Friday. Who were we kidding? There's just no way we could wait an entire week or 2 to see the movie. Plus like you, I waaaay to worried about spoikers being revealed before I see it. By that point, I'd only have myself to blame.

I will check out Jeremy Jahns review that I'm sure will be up tomorrow at some point. He does great spoiler-free reviews, then follows up with a seperate spoiler filled review for those who have seen the movie already (but he warns you well ahead of time).

By two weeks you'd only have yourself to blame? Fuuuuck that, some of us like to see movies on our own time and still expect not to have them spoiled. I will non-Force choke a bitch who tells me ANYTHING about what happens between now and March of 2017 if it takes me that long. Tongue Out lol

Yeah, Schmoes Know do the same thing and they are friends with him. I know who you are talking about. Have not watched movie review shows in a good while though. Mostly I just don't have the money to go out and see these movies, ergo not interested in reviews.

Might be a bit longer on the podcast. It's 3 hours after I cut the break and before and after stuff out and I'm still working a lot. It might have to wait until next week unless you want to edit this weeks one. But you sound pretty busy as well, so it's cool if you can't.

Jesus fucking Christ $9-$10 an hour? Our minimum wage is $16 an hour! I mean, granted, our dollar is traling behind yours by a bit so it probably averages out, but still.

I'm pretty sure Nick mentioned something about instant messaging coming, but I could be remembering it wrong. I'd love it, or really any chat functionality.

And having Bayonetta in Smash may make me play smash...

1 USD = 1.40 AUSD, so you're trailing by 40 cents. But then everything is way the fuck more expensive in your country and you keep saying your Internet is shit. I dunno ...

And I know Aussies are not Europeans, but I associate you with them, so I'm not surprsied by your Bayonetta love. lol Everything about that chatacter screams European to me.

If you need me to edit, I'll see what I can do.
