Pixlpeeps how are you doing on this fine Christmas week (for you folks who don’t celebrate Christmas, how are you doing on this fine week?) So on Friday I was writing up a Quick Hits blog, and got pulled into some Christmas shopping. I figured I would finish up the latest entry when I got home, but instead put it off until Sunday when I decided to just do another combo blog today. Sound cool? Call it being lazy/I want to talk about some games I’ve been playing/yeah being lazy. Sound good? Good, let’s get started!

 

Chris Plays…

 

I’m trying to finish up a couple of games before the New Year begins, and Band Hero is one of them. So far I am 50% finished with career mode and with each sitting I knock out a venue so in theory I can finish this game by the end of the week. I seem to have a love hate relationship with some of the song choices, but overall I like the playlist. It’s going to be hell going back to Guitar Hero Live and having to relearn to use the six smaller buttons again.

 

Yep I went with the good people who like to offend everyone and give their RPG a try. I was told it was simple enough for me to not lose interest and for right now, they’re right and I am enjoying this game. I’ll probably play more of this later on today.

 

 

I took in a level of Lego Jurassic World. I wanted to make some progress in this game so hopefully by the end of January I can finish off everything in the game and maybe earn another Platinum before jumping back into Dimensions.

 

 

For tablet games I’ve been playing this game for the past couple of weeks

 

Yup I’ve jumped back into another Star Wars tablet game and this one probably got me to play South Park. It’s one of those simple RPG’s where its all turn based. I’ve been building up my team to where I can run through the AI. Since this is a Freemium game there are options to buy certain perks

 

Yeah I don’t love the SW Universe that much. I could buy a kick ass Lego Star Wars set for that price.

 

In the game you have a choice on either playing a real opponent’s team, facing the AI in a story mode. The Good Story line is what you start out with, and once you hit a certain level, the Dark Story is unlocked. There is also a section where you can combine the light and dark characters to fight in a special storyline that is a lot harder. This one I haven’t tried yet. The game itself has a bunch of freebies that help, but if you want to progress there is a lot of grinding to items to improve your characters.

 

Chris Watches…

The Affair – Showtime: For the Season Finale we finally get the big payoff this past season has been building up to, and wow it was really good. There was some explanation and where everything finally comes together. If the show ended with this episode it would be such a perfect way to go, but I think it’ll be back next season.

Vanderpump Rules – Bravo: I’m still an episode behind in this wild reality show, and the new drama is this: The DJ likes the hostess. The Hostess doesn’t want anything serious. They are kind of seeing each other and when she says she doesn’t want anything exclusive, the DJ decides to sleep with the other hostess who is friends with the girl he likes. The best part is, she finds out, tells the other hostess’ boyfriend and you kind of have an idea of what is going to happen. Best.Show.On.TV.

NXT Takeover: London – WWE Network: This was a network exclusive on Wednesday in prime time in London, and noon here for Best Coast Time. NXT’s product is much better than the main roster WWE and the fans really get into it. For one of the wrestlers Big Cass, the fans sang Hey Cass, to Hey Jude, and for the Bayley vs Nia Jax match the fans sang Hey Bayley to Hey Baby. The best part about this exclusive is that it was two hours long, compared to a regular NXT taping that is an hour.

WWE Tables, Ladders, Chairs – WWE Network/PPV: On Sunday this was the big Pay Per View of the month and it was just as long as a Monday Night Raw. I wish the WWE would realize that Raw is just too long, and when your regular product is just as long as your special PPV it doesn’t make the event special. The matches were ok, with the exception of the Tag Team match that involved ladders, which was really good, this was another decent PPV. The teaser of old ECW matches were fun, and the storyline of Ric Flair’s daughter (WOOOOOOOOO) Charlotte turning heel is puzzling, but other than that the next PPV is the Royal Rumble in a month.

 

Chris Listens To…

Since everyone is out watching Star Wars (thanks good people for not spoiling it for me) I decided to listen to this mashup between the music of the franchise and Notorious BIG

 

Its not as good as the Grey Album from early 2000’s (Jay Z’s Black album mixed with The Beatles White Album) but its interesting and free. I believe its free to stream on Soundcloud and there should be a download link somewhere there as well.

 

I listened to all my remaining unheard Christmas music and while making a list of songs I really like for my phone I noticed that the majority of Christmas songs fall into two categories: depressing, and upbeat. I won’t listen to John Lennon’s Christmas song So This Is Christmas is so freaking depressing/preachy. If you like it, cool, but every time it comes on the radio, I’ll change the channel. I don’t want to be depressed during this time. Be political/depressing/preachy in the other 11 months of the year.

For the lucky few who have never seen the prequels this was a scene when Anakin goes evil.  Speaking of Facebook I saw this on my feed

 

Why on earth would someone post six replies, three of which is to their own reply with a bunch of nonsense that can be replaced by a simple two-letter word: “no”? Its obvious he knows how to use the edit button because he used it already. SMH at some folks.

 

When did iPhone start telling you how much battery your phone has left along with anything connected to it? It’s a nice feature; I just want to know when it started.

I finally bought the missing Godfather Soundtrack that I didn’t have in the library. I heard of the name Perfecto as a group of DJ’s but I couldn’t name a track they created. This was a perfect time to give it a listen. I think I first heard of them during the short-lived reality show The Club that was on Spike. It was a standalone club in Las Vegas that has since closed.

 

I know the Sean Kingston album is most likely hot garbage but I did like that Beautiful Girls track, so why not get the whole album? I also picked up a 50 Cent album. The Rap section is slim pickings with the exception of a mountain of a local artist’s CD.

 

I picked up this Cassadee Pope CD because I thought it was different from the Target version I own but when I compared the tracklists it looks like they are the same. Oh well I’ll leave it sealed. Expose was a late 80s group that had a couple of hits that I really like. I had the original on cassette so its nice to finally have it on CD.

It was an online return so it was $6 and now I have a physical copy to go along with the digital copy I bought on release day.

 

My final pickup is music related. On Friday when I went to the outlets I spotted a pair of Nike’s that had a lot of hype during the summer, and I finally bought a pair, for $40

 

Yeah they are loud but it was one of those shoes I thought were cool, but not for retail cool. Anyways they are nicknamed the De La Soul High Tops because of this album

 

There was a low top that was huge a couple of years ago, and Nike recently rereleased those as well. I like these because they are a fun Summer Shoe.

 

Alright Pixlbit I wish you good people nothing but the best during this Holiday Season, and may you eat lots of good food, enjoy the company of your special people, and maybe make out like a bandit from the round man in red.

For my song of the week, this is one of my absolute favorite Christmas songs

 

Growing up I wouldn’t get out of my mom’s car to go to school until this song was finished if the radio was playing it. Listening to this song reminds me of really cold mornings walking into my grandparents house during winter break and playing with my Lego, or GI Joe, and studying the JC Penny Christmas Catalog and wondering which toys I was getting for Christmas.
