Metal Gear Solid V
Finally beat this one. Surprisingly, I was only two missions away from finishing it. It's pretty clear the game was intended to be longer, as the game ends with a major unresolved event and is pretty anti-climatic. Regardless, it is an amazing game. The best game I have played in years, though I would kill for a co-op mode.
Metal Gear Rising
I only bought this because after Metal Gear Solid V, I was curious about this missing chapter in the franchise. I played the demo a few years ago and I still don't really like this game. I can't get into the cut-scene/five minutes of gameplay, cut-scene/five minutes of gameplay rhythm (is this MGS4?). It's pretty clear two different teams handled the game the way it is structured. If I do continue playing this game, I'll be skipping the cut-scenes.
Rainbow Six Vegas
I can't believe how hard this game is considering it only came out on the last generation of consoles. A game this hard would never make it passed modern focus-testing where Normal Mode is the new Easy Mode. I gave up on this one very early on.
Destiny: The Taken King
Reached level 40 and I have only a few hard, really random missions left. I really want to play more, so it's a shame I whipped through the content so quickly. Hopefully, I can get a team that can do some Raids later on.
Top Three Movies of the Year
I didn't get to watch a lot of movies this year and usually there are a lot of great movies from the Oscars I will watch later on. As it stands, there are three movies from this year that stood out to me.
3. Mad Max
This is an action movie at its best. Fun and exciting from start to finish. It takes skill to pull of a chase scene that lasts over an hour!
2. Sicario
One of the most disturbing movies I have ever seen. It's even worse that this is based partially on the real life drug cartels. Regardless, I have a strong stomach for that stuff and I found this movie to be incredibly gripping. And what a fantastic ending!
1. Ex Machina
I never thought a movie with only four characters would be my favorite movie of the year. Starts off throwing intriguing questions about the potential of artificial intelligence, then gets pretty dark in the second half. I love science fiction and this was one of the best examples of it I have seen in a while.
And that's all. I hope everyone had a merry Christmas!
