Metal Gear Solid V

Finally beat this one. Surprisingly, I was only two missions away from finishing it. It's pretty clear the game was intended to be longer, as the game ends with a major unresolved event and is pretty anti-climatic. Regardless, it is an amazing game. The best game I have played in years,  though I would kill for a co-op mode.

Metal Gear Rising

I only bought this because after Metal Gear Solid V, I was curious about this missing chapter in the franchise. I played the demo a few years ago and I still don't really like this game. I can't get into the cut-scene/five minutes of gameplay, cut-scene/five minutes of gameplay rhythm (is this MGS4?). It's pretty clear two different teams handled the game the way it is structured. If I do continue playing this game, I'll be skipping the cut-scenes.

Rainbow Six Vegas

I can't believe how hard this game is considering it only came out on the last generation of consoles. A game this hard would never make it passed modern focus-testing where Normal Mode is the new Easy Mode. I gave up on this one very early on.

Destiny: The Taken King

Reached level 40 and I have only a few hard, really random missions left. I really want to play more, so it's a shame I whipped through the content so quickly. Hopefully, I can get a team that can do some Raids later on.

Top Three Movies of the Year

I didn't get to watch a lot of movies this year and usually there are a lot of great movies from the Oscars I will watch later on. As it stands, there are three movies from this year that stood out to me.

3. Mad Max

This is an action movie at its best. Fun and exciting from start to finish. It takes skill to pull of a chase scene that lasts over an hour!

2. Sicario

One of the most disturbing movies I have ever seen. It's even worse that this is based partially on the real life drug cartels. Regardless, I have a strong stomach for that stuff and I found this movie to be incredibly gripping. And what a fantastic ending!

1. Ex Machina

I never thought a movie with only four characters would be my favorite movie of the year. Starts off throwing intriguing questions about the potential of artificial intelligence, then gets pretty dark in the second half. I love science fiction and this was one of the best examples of it I have seen in a while.

And that's all. I hope everyone had a merry Christmas!

I wasn't as big on Mad Max as a lot of people, but enjoyed it. I really haven't seen much of Sicario or Ex Machina, they seem to have just come from nowhere, but people like those so maybe I'll check them out.

Can't really comment on the games as aside from MGSV: Ground Zeroes I have not played them.

I didn't like Mad Max as much as a lot of people either, but it did manage to be the best action movie I have seen in a while.regardless.

It's too bad you didn't get MGSV for Christmas. It will last you quite a while, unlike Ground Zeroes.

I'd probably consider MGSV if it had co-op.

The thing is, they wouldn't even really have to change anything about the game since you already have an AI-controlled partner.

My brother got Mad Max for Christmas and we've watched it again now.  It's such a visually striking movie, which is surprising as it's just "wars fighting other cars".  I think it's a great film.

Yeah, the visuals are quite striking. It would have been great to see the film in the theatre.

MGS V, I put 210 hours into the game and still couldnt beat it!  I play every game on the easiest difficulty and MGS V does not have that. You cant use the chicken hat on all missions. Its a shame Kojima decided to do that. Im a grandfather who still works 60 plus hours a week I dont have time to master a game enough to get an S ranking or even beat it on normal difficulty. And thats a shame because I have no desire to pick it up again or ever replay it.

Wow after 210 hours, I probably would have no desire to play the game either. I have only put in about 80 hours in it. I do have a friend who told me he put in 220 hours though.

I didn't get the final cut ending or anything. I just got the "Truth Revealed" ending, which is what most people consider the true ending to the game. I don't know if you got that. Either way, it is an incredibly tough game. I had to take two hiatus' to get the ending I got and there are really unfair spikes in difficulty.

Metal Gear Solid V is my game of the year. I loved every minute of that game. I agree that it was maybe was't quite done, but that's on Konami I think. Glad you enjoyed it as well.

Yep, it's my GOTY as well. And yeah, it's definitely Konami's fault. The game was plenty long though and I can't say I deserved more.

Unless somebody else or Kojima with Sony get the IP, I wouldn't hold my breath for more MGS V considering we are talking about Konami and it's spectacular fall from grace. By far, the worst company of this year.

Due to time and also release dates, I haven't managed to see your top three, although Fury Road has more to do with the fact that i'm catching up with the past three Mad Max movies (so far only seen the very first). I'd say my favorite of this year so far would be The Force Awakens.

I'm not exactly looking forward to more after MGSV. Even if Konami manages to make more MGS, it won't be nearly as good without Kojima Productions.

I've been thinking about Mad Max. Of course, Fallout 4 has sated my appetite for post-apocalyptic action, but I'm a fan of the movies.
