My First Dungeons And Dragons Experience!

So Christmas just passed, and it was ok. I didn't really celebrate Christmas until I was 18 and moved out of Dads house (Jehovah's Witness and whatnot) so I kind of missed out on the kiddy present side and now it's kind of just meeting with family and regretting the amount of food you ate for the last few days.

I did, however get to play my first game of D&D with one of my old friends from high school and 5 other people, and it was great! I was a half elf Bard, and I insulted a Goblin to death! I used Viscious Mockery and told him his face looked like a dogs yeast infected vagina. Because the DM liked that, I got to use a D8 instead of a D6. Didn't do me much good since I rolled a 3 and just made him mad and start shooting arrows at me while proclaiming his face was pretty. On my next turn I told him he was right, that his face was pretty, but that he had the body of an aborted horse fetus. I rolled an 8. My words literally broke his heart and killed him.

The rest of the group was awesome. We had a Human Monk named Chow Yun Fat, an Autistic and anorexic Orc Barbarian named Timmy, An elven warlock named Dipflop Somethingorother, a gnomish ranger, a dwarven sorcerer, and the DMs girlfriend played my sister, a rogue, who stole from the audience while my bard distracted them.

All in all a good night, although I did roll a natural 1 while trying to backstab a goblin with a rapier... I missed, tripped over some ale, and stabbed the elven warlock in gut. I had to use my next turn to heal him, before realising he still had the rapier in him, removing it, then healing him again, thus wasting my 2 level 1 spells pretty much straight away.

We didn't finish the campaign, so we're doing it again on wednesday. So keen! Now that I actually sort of understand DnD rules I'm off to play Baldurs Gate. Toodles!

Oh, btw, how was your Christmas?

I like DnD but when I heard about Steve Jackson's Toon, I now want to play that. It's like a cartoon character, humerous version of DnD,

Also, I think you can download the rule for free on the web site.

That sounds pretty good. DnD lets you kill people with insults though, so it's pretty cartoonish as is :p Still want to play it though. I just want to play more pen and paper rpgs honestly, they're a blast.

Last time I played DnD, I couldn't stop laughing and goofing around with the rules. I think I could put that to good use in Toon.

That brought back some memories. I last played D&D about 28 years ago. I was never any good at it, spending most of my time drinking and cracking wise until I got killed.

Christmas was a quiet affair. My daughter came from Guelph and we had roast beast. I've gone through the best part of a bottle of bourbon and many beers.

I think "being good" at dungeons and dragons honestly just means contributing and having fun. being overskilled and killing everything isn't much fun imo.

Nice. I feel like quiet christmas' are the best ones honestly.

Cool, man!  I wish I had a group to play D&D with.  It's so damn fun.

I just reallyn wish I can experience my first Role-Playing session. D&D can be a good start, but I feel more keen in Shadowrun.

Shadowrun would be cool, but DnD does have a LOT of possibilities because it's been around for so long. Especially when you start delving into the Planescape realm and whatnot.
