Pixlpeeps how are ya? Friday is here and I think we all should be excited…well I am anyways. I have a fun plan of maybe sorting some Lego. Maybe. I also might start up a new game that I need to remove from Mount Backlog, or maybe try for the platinum in Lego Dimensions. Anyways let’s get started with Quick Hits!
Adventures In Phone Service Part II: PEEEEAAAACCCEEEE OUT!
Last Wednesday I got a security code. I called my phone service (you know the sh*tty one) and I was made aware that someone was trying to add a new phone to my service but failed the security question (not questions). I was then transferred to someone else who said that I also put in for a new phone number. At this point I’m livid, and used some choice four letter words. The woman on the other end warned me that this was my first and last warning. I laughed and basically said you can’t hang up on me because YOU get in trouble (oh she was mad.)
I got the same BS about my phone, and I cut her off at the knees before she started. I asked her to explain to me what the difference was between the unlocked phone they sell and the one I bought from Apple. No Answer. I then ask how they can change my number again without my consent even after you question the person trying to use my service, without a security code I got sent. No Answer. At this point I’m in the car driving to a certain phone company (not the sh*tty one.)
I’m in the parking lot and I tell the woman on the other end, I’m done with your service, and all of a sudden she becomes super nice and the I’m sorry’s start flying. I (politely) tell her that I don’t need your sorry’s and I’m ready to move to another service and I want her to cancel my service. She said she couldn’t and I asked if I can do it online. She said yes, and started to say something like “give me two minutes to blah blah blah” at the first blah, I yelled out PEEEEEEAAACCCEEEEE OUT, and hung up. Funny at this point my phone went to No Service. 20 minutes later I signed up with my new service, got to pick out my own number, was assured none of the shenanigans Sh*tty Service was trying to pull flies there, and if I have any problems I can go into any of their stores for help.
The next morning I went online and deactivated my service with Sh*tty Service with no problems. The person helping me was quite polite, and I had it shut off in a minute. My last remaining connection to Sh*tty Service is that I have to pick up a SIM card they sent me from FedEx.
Chris Watches…
Billions – Showtime: This show premiered last week and I like it. The story is about a Billionaire Hedge Fund guy named Bobby Axelrod and the US Attorney For The Southern District of New York. They both hate each other and the one person that connects them is the Attorney’s wife who works for Axelrod. This show’s cast is built on actors from other big shows like Sons of Anarchy, Daredevil, John Adams, Homeland, etc. Give it a watch.
Red Oaks – Amazon Video: This is a show based in the 80s about a college student who in the summer teaches tennis at a fancy country club. I blew through Season 1, which I thought was really good. I read somewhere that Season 2 should appear this year and I can’t wait to continue the story.
Marvel’s Agent Carter – ABC: Agent Carter is back and this time she is in LA. I was hoping ABC would sneak in Pan Am (their old canceled show) and maybe a Godfather reference. C’mon a Jack Woltz, horse’s head or a Johnny Fontane song easter egg would have been great. I do like how this show is tied into the current events of this season’s Agents of SHIELD.
Chris Listens To…
I’m trying out Amazon Music and it isn’t bad. I’ve created a playlist of songs that I’ve listened to I don’t have in my iTunes library. This will be my list when I’m out buying CDs. Amazon’s music library isn’t as vast as other music services but it comes with the Prime Subscription.
In my actual iTunes library this is my current progress as of this blog (not including listened to songs on my iPod, or phone)
Last week I was 14, 711 and I’m still on pace to listen to everything in my library, even after adding 14 CDs last week.
Chris Finds Interesting Things…
So now there’s Pop figures of Saved By The Bell
They’re trying hard but I don’t need to collect any more stuff.
Some of you folks had to have grown up with a View Master (you know the disc with the pictures that you viewed in a contraption that looked like goggles.)
Apparently they are back and a lot more than I remember and now you use your cell phone. This takes the fun out of swapping out picture discs.
For $40 bucks, or around the low-end price of a new Genesis Cart in the 90s you can get this handheld
It comes with 80 games and it has an SD card reader. I want one but I don’t know if it can play other roms. I’ll check YouTube once I’m done typing this up.
Pickups
Games
I know I said I wouldn’t buy games just to have them sit, but most likely I’ll give these two games a chance
I think I have a Godfather game on PS2, 360, PC, and now Wii. Sled Shred because c’mon do you want to unlock the Jamaican Bobsled Team?
The next set of gaming stuff is for Lego Dimensions
I added the Dr. Who Level pack because it was a new level. I’ve never sat down an watched an episode so I was surprised to find out the phone booth flies around. This makes it easier to have certain characters reach hard to reach places.
I picked up the Bart Simpson Fun Pack because it is hard to find a Bart Simpson minifigure in the blind bags. Everyone keeps buying them and leaving the other Simpsons characters. As a bonus he can enter small doors within the game.
Dr. Who was $23 I think and Bart was $8 at GameStop.
The next set of Lego Dimensions I pre-ordered back in December from Amazon and I received them on Release Day.
C’mon its Ghostbusters Level Pack
The DC Team Pack with Joker and Harley Quinn.
And finally the Doc Brown Fun Pack. I now have Marty and Doc in my collection.
Ghostbusters was I think $23, the Team pack was $18 and Doc was $8. Realistically I only need to purchase a spinning Ninjago, The Arcade set, Aquaman, Emmit, and the guy from Jurassic World to open up items in the Lego Dimensions World.
Music
From the local mom and pop I picked up
It turns out I already own Kenny Chesney’s Greatest Hits. I really should finish up my updated CD list
I actually had problems ripping Incubus SCIENCE. A couple of times it said that the first CD track was not present. As for the other CD I think it maybe either autographed by someone in the band, or by the former owner.
From Goodwill’s Buy 3 Get 1 Free
I picked up Celine because its all in French and I believe was released in Canada. Something different to listen to, and besides I like her voice so why not.
New CDs from Barnes & Noble and Best Buy
I never owned a copy of 21. I now have her three albums and the Live At Royal Albert Hall. *I just checked my iTunes library and 19 isn’t there. I could have sworn I own it. I have to look through my CDs to see if I actually have it.
I bought this CD for one song, Sabor A Mi. My Spanish is terrible but I like the song, and I think I have two different versions in my library now.
Plastic Block Toys!
Toys R Us finally put these out on the floor instead of being a bonus if you spend $30
I’ve been watching this set at Toys R Us but it hasn’t gone on sale. During a visit to GameStop (where I got the Wii games) this was in the clearance bin
This was in there along with one set of Stark Bannermen. I left that because I’m not big on the Starks. At some point I’ll open this set up and build the throne room. Right now I don’t have anywhere to display it.
So there was a trip to the Swapmeet this past weekend. I haven’t been since the summer so along with my cousin we walked around. We stopped at the Fake Lego Lady’s stall and she had some new products that were interesting (and I’ve seen online.) I picked out the figures I wanted and the Fake Lego Lady said 5 for $20 instead of the 4 I got. She then said she hasn’t seen me since the Summer and pick one figure out as a Christmas Gift. These are the figures I bought
I forgot the name of the company that produces these figures but its basically the Iron Man figure painted like other super heroes. From left to right I got Mr. Fantastic, Robin, Cyclops, Spider Man, White Spider Man, and Batman. I was looking for Wolverine but she didn’t have it. I think I now have 20 Iron Man Figures (five or six from Lego, and the rest from the Fake Lego Lady.) I’m about to add the exclusive minifigure from the next Marvel game, and eventually the underwater Iron Man from the new sets.
Alright Pixlpeeps I am off. It’s the start of the weekend for me and I’m going to enjoy the weather. Have a good weekend!
That’s all for now, more later!

I've worked in customer service before. It was a different kind of company, and it rarely ever happened, but if someone cussed me out, I wouldn't talk to them. They would go straight to management. Nobody should have to deal with that. Sorry. But then, it also sounds like your customer service was less than desirable.
Viewmasters should not have to require cell phones. These are kids toys and not every kid is going to have a cell phone. But then, I never understood the thrill of a Viewmaster because I've been blind in my left eye since birth so I don't think I got the full enjoyment out of them.
I hope I can get the Ghostbusters level pack soon, too. I've never watched Dr. Who either so I thought that purple thing he flies around in was a port-a-potty.

I agree that people should be treated with respect but after a certain point of frustration with their unwillingness to provide actual answers it happens. I would have been perfectly fine with them saying they don't know. When I was at Disney we were told if you don't have the answer simply say "I don't have an adequate answer, but let me find someone who does." That's all I wanted. Thank goodness I'm done with that phone service.
I always thought the Viewmaster was cool. Basically it looks like you're sitting in an empty movie theater with what seems like a huge image. I'm disappointed the original format isn't available but I get why they are using the cell phone.

I looked up that Genesis handheld. Doesn't look bad. Still, I don't think I'll buy it. I miss playing Genesis games, but I do have the PSP game with a bunch of them for Vita.
Those level packs are sick but... just don't have the space and organization for legos.

I used to play a ton of Genesis games on the PSP. It was perfect on a handheld.
Thank goodness the Diminsions figures are small so my whole collection fits in a small plastic bin. I don't think I will go for a complete set of the dang things, but if they ever go on sale I might pick up a couple that I wouldn't have normally have purchased.

I looked in that viewmaster thing at Xmas 'cause my nephew had one. It's neat you can look around in the image a lot.

I wonder if my younger cousins would be into this. I'd like to give it shot and see how it looks compared to the older ones (I'd like to think the one I grew up with is far superior but there is some major bias in that opinion)

I actually am curious how that viewmaster works. I liked the old ones too. Glad phone shits is done with. I want LEGO Dimensions, but don't wanna buy all those packs.

You can complete the Lego Dimensions game with the three included figures, you just can't get the minikits and what not. Give one of the previous Lego games a shot. Its the same except you don't have to switch out figures on a portal
