I'm a bit concerned about this new sequel, but not in a negative way. I really liked the slow nature of the Demons and Dark Souls, and as much as I enjoyed Bloodborne, I prefer the slower pace of the first souls games. As the souls games move onto more powerful hardware capabilites, I worry that the devs will throw 'more' stuff at you just for the sake of it. Faster enemies, boss fights and gameyplay makes me a bit nervous. Its fine for Bloodborne, but I really just want a beautiful remake of older souls games in the way Resident Evil remake was handled. I hope DS3 is this.

Good Golly Gosh Pixl-People! It's 2016! Isn't that insane? You're probably thinking “Well no, because time keeps moving in a linear fashion and thus the changing of the year is something you should have grown accustomed to by your 20s.” Well that's true, but as I was raised a Jehovah's Witness, I am still somewhat conditioned to believe that each year is our last and that we're all going to die because we're not boring.
Oh, and I also forget my birthday a lot. What was I talking about?
Oh yes! It's 2016, and there are video games to look forward to! Unlike usual, I'm not going to list them out in any order because fuck order. If 1886 taught us anything, it's that order may look pretty, but it makes Werewolves boring.
It's also February, meaning I'll do two games every day, except for today, because this bit exists and now there's tons of writing.
Dark Souls 3
Do I need to tell you why this game is on my list? Really? Do you not know me at all? Do you not read my stuff? Are you only reading my stuff now because it's in list form, and lists are like the crystal meth of the written world – i.e. easily accessible to the poorly educated?
Well if so, Dark Souls is good. It's my favourite game ever made. It's my favourite piece of media ever created. It's a tantelizing tapestry of tightly woven vertical geography, maudlin atmosphere, and brilliant combat. Also this thing.
Dark Souls 2 was the most rubbish sequel I've ever sunk 500 hours into. It's fun, and as a game it succeeds. But it loses the atmosphere, it loses the storytelling, and it loses the cohesion that made Dark Souls the wondrous game it is.
But there's good news! The guys who made Dark Souls are back, and the guys who made Dark Souls 2 are presumably looking for work at the disappointing sequel factory, or Square Enix to you plebeians.
Seriously though, this game looks to capture the horror side of Bloodborne and mix it with the more depressing atmosphere of Dark Souls and weapon arts and hopefully just as many secrets as the original Dark Souls (seriously, if this is like a Bloodborne thing and I discover almost every secret on my first run I'll start killing off members of the clergy one by one).
But really, it's just more Dark Souls. And Dark Souls is objectively the best game ever made.
