BaD0- Damned Witness turning me to puzzles!

I love and hate The Witness. That glorified puzzle game that is sometimes clever and fun, but mostly frustrating has made me pull out Layton and other puzzle games I had stored away in the game closet. Surprisingly, I checked out Pokemon Picross, which is free on 3DS eshop, with in-game transactions, but for the most part I enjoy doing a little puzzle each day and it's quite relaxing. Unlike the witness though, the game gives you a lot of hints and wants to help you solve the puzzles, which is why I've enjoyed the game a lot more, but apples to oranges. I got a puzzle fever.

Do you like any particular puzzle games? I need to check out that 3D picross game now.

My brain works weirdly I think. I've been having very little trouble with The Witness thus far, but have struggled with some other puzzle games. I don't know what it is, maybe I'm jkust not far enough in or something.

With Witness, some of the puzzles have a simple logic that doesn't take that  much time to figure out and does feel rewarding and even refreshing. I could even see Blows premise for making a game that rewards you without having to kill minions and the players biggest challenge is themselves, but not all puzzles give the sense of reward for completing and sometimes I'm not sure what I did to solve them. I haven't gotten completely stuck, but frustrated at times, but that happes with many games. It's just that this game doesn't always give you feedback for doing something wrong you just go through a cycle of trial-n-error. Souls games do a better job of teaching you, where this game fails at it. Just my opion. Some ppl fucking love this, I am not one of those.

I like a lot of puzzle games. The Picross games are some favorites. I have both Picross and Picross 3D for my DS. I also play a game called Pixelo on Kongregate. Once you've solved all the puzzle packs, you can still go back for more with a daily puzzle download. And best of all, it really is free to play.

I dig puzzle games and the one I've been playing off and on for a couple of months is Alpha Omega on the iPad. Its a word puzzle game that is set up like a crossword and you can only move a letter once. I own a couple of Picross games but I haven't finished any of them.

I'm not really into puzzle games, but when I do, it's more of the adventure type.  I don't like 3D puzzle games so much, and even though they are fun sometimes, they can also be horrible frustrating like the water temple in Ocarina of Time.

Picross 3D is actually really good.  There's a sequel in Japan that I hope comes out here in the US.

My favorite puzzle games are Tetris, Bust-A-Move/Puzzle Bobble, and Super Puzzle Fighter 2 Turbo.

Here's a review of Pokemon Picross that I wrote a while back:

I couldnt find the 3D picross game on 3DS eshop? Is it only DS? I need to try it.

I guess it was just for DS.  I didn't think it was that long ago.  Oh well.  The sequel that is coming out in Japan is on 3DS.

Do you know if Nick's Picross game came out on Steam?

I don't know? For now, I really enjoy using the stylus on 3DS screen to fill in squares. Not sure how a controller or keyboard would work?

Puzzlers usually frustrate the hell out of me, so I stay away, but I fell for Professor Layton for the story, presentation and music. The puzzles aren't too difficult either and they give you a hint system you can use if you need it.

I agree. I prefer adventure games with puzzles like Resident Evil for example, as opposed to just the pure puzzles, but puzzles really need to offer a hint or clue, otherwise whats the point?

I hate getting stuck in a puzzle game. It means you have to stop playing. That sucks.

Thats the thing with the witness. You do eventually have to stop for a while to figure these puzzles out, you cant really do them all in your head, or at least I don't want to do that. Also sitting in front of a computer screen doing puzzles all night is fucking boring as fuck.
