No One Can Stop Mr. Domino

Well I don't know about that.I seem to have very little problem stopping him in his tracks. The object of the game is to lay down a path of dominoes throughout the given stage. In each stage there are "trick tiles" that cause reactions within the stage. There are power ups, health tiles, and tiles that will either slow or speed up Mr. Domino's running. The game was released in 1998 for the PS1 by Acclaim.

Mr. Domino is a real jerk. There is no other way around it. He leaves a path of destruction in his wake. For no other reason than that he likes to be a nuisance! The 6 levels that he wrecks are a casino,a grocery store,a private home,a local park,an amusement park, and a city. There are a total of five different dominoes to choose from as the playable character.

It's considered to be a puzzle game. Kinda short, but highly amusing and fun. I think it appealed to me because of my childhood. In addition to a huge tub of Legos and tons of Tinkertoy pieces I had dominoes. My Dad got me 10 boxes of them to build stuff with. I built castles, forts, bridges, all sorts of stuff. Then I would have target practice with a tiny little catapult I had. It could fling items very far,so I had to adjust it a bit.  But I also enjoyed laying down long, elaborate trails of dominoes. They would be set to trigger collisions and drops. You had to get creative to make really long chains. That is the key element of this game.

If you like quirky Japanese games this might be right up your alley. It moves quickly and fluidly for a PS1 game of this type. If you get a chain of dominoes set up just right the reward is a chain reaction of mayhem you will enjoy,I assure you. It will remain in my collection always just for that simple quality.

What I'm listening to today.........

Sounds like fun, I've always wanted to string together a chain of dominoes. Love both the songs you posted, probably my favorite Maiden song, and loved "Midnight City" whenever it came on last year. One of those I feel cool driving around at night songs. Video doesn't really reflect that emotion, more of a horror movie vibe, but great song in any case.

Glad you liked those songs. The Maiden one is from Abbey Road Live. That was one of the best performances of the song I've ever seem them do. And M83 is a group I only discovered a few months ago. Their songs are really varied. Some are very uptempo, almost dance music. Others are more like classical at times. I have a ton of their stuff in iTunes.

It was one of those games that slipped under the radar of most folks. Really odd and unusual for it's day. Lots of copies of it floating around. Always turns up at Vintage Stock when I am in there.

Interesting little game there. I will check to see if my retro game store has it.

I have that Mr. Domino game.  Very quirky and Japanese-y.  And hard.

I suppose its less time consuming than setting up a real domino chain!

I may have to keep my open for this one. I like games like this that require using your brains to figure stuff out but that also have explosions. I like explosions, have I ever mentioned that?
